Im 100% in that I dont value errors anymore as official scoring is horrendous throughout the majors. I am a UZR guy (understand some dont like it) & he is not the worst fielding SS in majors according to that. Does he need to improve, yes...definately. Think some are forgetting how bad the SS play was last yr.....Dozier has NOT been in that class of poor play.
Offensively, hes just a rookie. People forget how bad Ben Revere was last yr. How bout Trevor Plouffe or even the MVP Morneau. Even this yrs MVP Mike Trout hit only .220 last yr. Give him the year & see what happens next yr. Shown decent HR power (prob a 10/15 guy) & sb speed (prob a 15/20 guy). Thing that bothers me is he was such a patient walk orientated hitter in minors but only 12bb this yr in 77gms
Curiously, Hicks started in LF Sunday for the first non-CF start since 2010 (12 in RF for Beloit that yr).
Could they be getting him used to other OF spots for a Sept recall (since Gardy would never play him in CF over Revere/Span)
After his start on SAT, Wheeler leads the MWL in Ws (12), tied for first in starts (22), is 5th in IP (126.2), 7th in Ks (96), 14th in ERA (3.34)
Take away his 6 June starts (6.28era in 28.2IP) & his 16 starts include a 2.48ERA
Oswaldo had a pretty bad week goin 0 for last 14 & 1 for last 21 before getting a nite off SAT.
Dropped his average to .301 & slgg dropped under .500 to .484
I agree that if Gardy is thinking about playing him in the OF, why doesnt he play OF in ROC??
This is something that Ive noticed over the yrs with their minor league teams.
lst yr, Rene Tosoni played basically LF with MN but had only played a handful of gms (including after demotion) in LF in minors over his career.
Both Aaron Hicks & Ben Revere (first rounders) started their careers in GCL and started their next yr in Beloit. This is what they will do with Buxton. Question is whether he will start the yr there or pick up the yr in May/June.
With the team in BOS (close drive to new brit)....I wouldnt be shocked if he's brought up for Sundays game.
On Gardy's radio show Friday....he says he wants to bring him up, sooner the better as there are few off days & he wants an extra bench player.
Said the reason is that he needs to know they can go down to 12 pitchers. Luis Perdomo has pitched 2/3 of a meaningless inning in the last week & Jeff Manship hasnt pitched since his recall. Dont think the 12/13th guys are needed right now.
They are getting a solid 6IP every start and if they are gonna do it, it will be soon.
Said he's willing to play him in LF or RF as well as 1B
Best thing about Chris' play in AAA (IMO) is how hes crushed lefties
18/50 .360/.429/.540
Think I heard that Deduno is out of options & that will hurt him massively. A guy like him who doesnt have the chance to optioned out has to be near perfect OR established. He is neither. Cant see under any situation where MN will see him as one of the 5 starters next yr. Possibly in the pen, but that walk rate REALLY cries out in the pen. Think he's just been a good story & seriously doubt if he will do enough the last 11 starts to merit anything.
Last 17gms 16/53 (.302) 14runs 4doubles 3triples 4HR (.717slgg) 16k 8bb 2hbp (.413OBP) 3/5sbs
11 of 16 hits for XBases....sweet.
The kid is for real....but anyone checking on him & just seeing his season stats dont realize how good he's been
Gibson had his Sept 7 (I believe) and was back Juy 10.
That's 2 months, which seems about right. If Wimmers had it in May/June, he coulda been back for the start of the year (rehab only of course).
Now, he should probably start in beginning of June (start of GCL??)
He may get an extra month than Gibson got BUT it still suxx
tho he did attend JC....Rene Tosoni is one who skipped Beloit to go straight to Ft Myers (tho he made a 2gm playoff appearance after ELIZ)They definately move em up slowly
maybe im missing it, but I havent noticed hostile/heated discussions, just different points of view where neither poster wants to budge off their opinion/view.Know there are occassions where...for ex...I may have a more extreme view of something than others, but other topics will be the exact opposite and that having a heated but civil discussion isnt viewed as hostile and scares others off. I personally stick a lil more to minor leagues & maybe Ive missed some of the more heated threads.
wouldnt say there is NO shot as Gardy played Brian Dinkelman alot last Sept after not playing alot of infield the past couple yrs.
However, Id say its more likely that Dozier will play some 2B with Escobar at SS.
Always possible but with Beloit in the playoffs & New Brit probably makin it.....could hamper Ft Myers a tad, maybe not tho.
Play in the next 4 wks will also determine where they end up
