  1. It's unbelievable when the Twins are complaining about Castro's $6,25M salary, when he is so valuable to the team & then turn around to sign Bader (who's a bench upgrade on defense, especially as platooning cOF but leaves a lot to be desired offensively & IMO not necessary) to a $6.5-8.5M + '26 buyout. Swapping these 2 guys out shows very bad player evaluation & money mismanagement. Castro's time at CF & SS should be moderated. Hoping that Buxton & Correa play more often & that Keirsey & Lee are ready to play there also more often. But it's nice to have Castro around to fill in if need be at SS & CF along with valuable time at LF, 2B & 3B. With less time SS & CF would take off the burden & release more production. Besides putting Castro as a fire sale puts Twins in a bind & his market goes down. We'll never get what he's worth to us. He offers his services at 1B because he wants to stay here one way or another. Twins seem to always get hurt so he'll be busy & needed in other positions. His flexibility is always valuable to us by adding depth everywhere. It'll be a big mistake to trade away Castro.
  2. 1B is a waste of his talents. He'll be too busy subbing more important positions when he's not playing LF. MN has to find an inhouse player & stick with him. Not pick up a FA every year to man the position, taking away valuable experience from our players so they can perfect that position . We don't need a GG to cover for our 2Bman we need someone who can mash. Miranda is the one. Let him recuperate 100% from his shoulder surgery, by keeping him at 1B & productive. We do need depth, I don't trust Julien, Gasper, or Ford. IMO Lewis could use a break from 3B once in a while to play 1B. Give him a shot there where we could use more help.
  3. Thank you arby58 for the debate, Maybe most fit into this pattern but my eye tells me his defense plays in the MLB & my gut tells me he's a late bloomer & deserves the chance to prove himself on the MLB level.
  4. IMO starting '24, Martin wasn't considered for the backup Buck-CF position & was considered more as the RH bat on the corners & his natural position 2B. Castro was kinda the LH replacement, so during spring training he didn't get the reps there as he should & after spring training Margot was acquired to be Buck's RH replacement. Margot was supposed be that great RH bat & glove. But he never panned out in either (so you can appreciate my skepticism) & Castro was busy most of the time elsewhere, So Martin was thrust into the CF role, He made some great plays & made rookie mistakes. I've stated many times before that Keirsey was a much better option than Martin at CF. Martin was chosen over him because of his RH bat. Baldelli noted that they'd give Martin more reps at CF at spring training, which is a good idea but now I doubt that'll happen. The sticker is they couldn't call up Keirsey because Margot had his roster spot. It wasn't due to Keirsey's ability as a true CFer & offense. With Keirsey on the roster, IMO Martin shouldn't see any CF even if Bader wasn't around. So yes Keirsey's defense is well worth the bench spot that shouldn't be doubted & his hitting will come around to more than validate his worth.
  5. We both have an eye on the importance defense & I appreciate that about you even though we don't agree on the importance of defense at 1B & RF.
  6. Eeles started the Twins running & I took immediate note. I've been following him & he should be given recognition to be a viable MLB candidate. IMO he should replace Julien as the LH 2B option. But that won't happen because Twins will give Julien every opportunity even when it's obvious that he's toast. Beyond that they'll give their acquisition Gasper every opportunity to prove that he's not a MLBer. Eeles is a nobody to the Twins except a break glass option when all of their other players absolutely bomb or get injured.
  7. I addressed everything, If you want me to address your idea that hitting in lower MiLB matters & hitting in higher MiLB does not, meet the formula to suggest a MLB regular. Then I say your idea is off. Lower minors mean nothing if they can hit there & everything depends on whether they hit in the upper MiLB to gauge a MLB candidate. Let me add that during WWII many MiLBers entered the war. They came back older & reentered pro ball. Many had successful MLB careers. They did because they had character. Keirsey has character. & that isn't found on the spreadsheet.
  8. If you are talking about DH or 1B, then yes, I'd agree with you. But not CF
  9. You're right he's been hitting the last 2, for Pete sake. I was giving reason for delay which is very viable. It affected everybody, more those down the pecking order. Many didn't really make it back from the covid season. Let me add that during WWII many young MiLBers went in to serve. They came out older & entered pro ball again & had good MLB careers. They did because they had character. Keirsey has character.
  10. 13 ABs is not a cup of coffee, it's a sip. Unless maybe you're Royce Lewis, very few do well in their 1st 13 ABs much less able to hit their 1st HR. Most good rookies take a prolonged time in MLB to start to get acclimated to MLB. He has yet to have that opportunity. Lewis didn't hit his 1st HR until around his 20th AB. Because of Keirsey's interruption in '20 & slow start, MN has written Keirsey off a long time ago. So whatever he does it doesn't matter because they have already formed their option. Their feeling seems to seep into the fanbase.
  11. The main player I'm concerned about is Emma, I don't look at age especially those who suffered from the covid canceled MiLB. I'm looking at the ability of the player, there's a lot of late bloomers for one reason or another have a late start but rake, Keirsey should have his shot. I'm not talking about a long-term starting CF position, I'm talking about a short-term bench position that Keirsey can very well cover & we don't have to pay someone well over $7M, to block anyone or force us to trade someone that we need more than this position. It's easy to overlook the small & insignificant. The Twins tend to this (or make something out of nothing). Castro wasn't supposed to be on the '23 team even though he had a good spring training, he was too small & insignificant. But he got his chance as a bench player & he was one of the reasons we did well in '23 & won the MVP in '24. That's all I'm asking for Keirsey. I saw something in Castro & I see something Keirsey. Sometimes the small & insignificant can make the difference. I'm not ashamed of my position of not going goo goo over big names or falling for their hype.
  12. I thought I'd look up Bader's highlights on YouTube for '24. Mainly what I saw was bloop hits, some HRs mainly solos & no defense. I looked up the defense, there were for past years but not last year. The main problem last season was the expensive outhouse Margot who was supposed to back up Buck. He was terrible to where we had to over-depend on Martin & Castro & blocked the access to Keirsey who could actually do a good job of subbing Buck. We know what we have in Keirsey, very dependable defense with good potential offensively. We don't know what we'll get in Bader. Is he going to turn into another Margot? Keirsey will cost us nothing, Bader will cost us $6.25- 8.25M plus '26 buyout. Keirsey blocks nobody, Bader blocks & limits our players playing time, especially Emma. I don't care if he might be better than the other FAs. IMO Bader wasn't needed & he was overpaid (sounds familiar). Acquiring him most likely will force the Twins to trade someone they actually need. Don't the Twins think these things out?
  13. They do this by evaluating, drafting, developing & then trusting their unproven young player to get the job done. I'd like the Twins to start doing this if anything that Falvey had brought over from CLE this would be it. & if they have any extra money, I wish they extend our foundational young players, not throw it away on FA.
  14. I agree, that Paddack would help the team but after signing Bader that pretty much signed the death warrant on a budget cut. IMO Paddack is easier to replace so that makes him the odd man out. Nevertheless, I'd prefer him to stay besides we'd probably only get a lotto ticket in return.
  15. Trading Lazardo has made MIA a little short & to protect some of their younger arms & to take off some of the burden they are putting on them. Hope they'd be interested in Paddack, they might be looking for more of a cheaper inning eater.
  16. I don't like the idea of Julien being our backup 1Bman. But Castro at 1B is a waste of talent that can be better put to use at other positions. I & others have suggested giving Lewis a shot at 1B. It makes more sense to me but you better let him know well before spring training.
  17. I love the idea of the offseason. But I hate the way this FO does the offseason. Nothing for most of the season & then the bizarre & then a punch in the gut. I don't get all the fringe players they like to collect w/o addressing the problem, then add players we don't need, then trade off players we need to afford the players we don't need. Each year at this time, I hear these rumors & I say to myself, this FO can't be that dumb & then pow, right in the gut, it happens. If these rumors are right which I no longer put it by them. The FO gets another big fat F. I project again this team won't come close to competing this year & will hurt this team for years to come. What a way to hand over this team to the new owners, creating such a mess. The new owners will have their hands full & the first order of business is to take control of this team away from Falvey.
  18. You forgot we lost Margot, which was our greatest gain. Nothing this FO has done has moved the needle. Coloumbe might have helped a little, but the others have just occupied valuable roster spots.
  19. Garlick, ketchup, & pickles to go with the Ober sandwich.
  20. I actually prefer Endy Rodriguez. He can help out at 1B & also give us some quality catching help.
  21. BAL don't like to trade their players, neither do MN or very good at it. How does this trade get done if nobody initiates it?
  22. & probably throw in Henriquez for good measure.
  23. I'd hope so. But FO is very slow to learn from their mistakes; Margo hasn't been the 1st to be cemented in the roster long after their being inept.
  24. Like Margot, Bader is progressively getting worse at fielding & their hitting is atrocious. It'll be interesting to see which would be badder, Margot or Bader. (please forgive the pun). Like Margot, he'll get too much playing time, take up a valuable roster spot, from our own players, be too expensive, & be a hindrance to our offense.
