  1. I've always liked to be like ATL where they do a good job in player evaluation, drafting, development, trading & extending their players while avoiding FA as much as possible. I'd be willing to extend all of these players. Ryan, Ober & Lewis still have a lot of upside, so I'd try to get a deal on them by extending them. I'd be open to extending Jeffers if they could extend him as he is a backup catcher. But the Twins have hyped him up as a primary catcher & with Boras as his agent with Jeffers's good numbers as backup to make his overall numbers better, he's going to ask top starting catcher dollars. Which, I'm totally against another bad contract.
  2. The advantage of a Helman was if Buxton got hurt you could bring him up & be that RH bat that the Twins have to have & when Buxton comes back, Helman goes down. Bader, you are stuck with him & his salary. hell or high waters like Margot.
  3. I'm optimistic, Buck is in a good spot, and Correa seems to have a handle on his plantar facilitisis with shoe support, exercises & treatment. Steward seems to feel pretty good. Alcala, Lewis, Paddack & Miranda are one more year past surgery, proper health management will keep them productive as long as possible. I'm more concerned with Topa chronic knee & Lee's back, if there is a proper way to manage their pain & to keep them productive.
  4. Casas was allowed put together one good season, can he maintain that? Casas is more of a HR hitter, but Miranda is more of pure hitter yet he can put together a pretty high OPS. It might take a little before he's 100% & regain his stamina. In Miranda's last full season in the MiLB he hit 30 HRs.
  5. OPS, When he gets 100% & completes a full season he could get to a 20+ season.
  6. If given a chance Miranda can be just as good as Casas. Keep him at 1B & let him recover 100% & be productive as our primary 1Bman when he's healthy. Let's invest in our own capable players they pay the best dividends. Too bad if they don't fit into your weird analytics. I don't trust Julien, Gasper or Ford. If we can't go inhouse then trade for a cheap secondary MLB 1Bman.
  7. Falvey didn't hire Molitor, but Falvey probably was the reason why he was fired & Rocco was hired.
  8. You are right. I'm not sure how it'll end. Hope he'll figure it out.
  9. MN hasn't had a decent lead-off hitter for a long time. You could argue that Arraez was pretty good since he had high OBPs which I agree but what separates Martin from Arraez is his speed & ability to take & steal an extra base & intimidate pitchers to make mistakes to following batters or walks that spark rallies. Martin has always had a high OBP, he had high OPS in college & AFL it doesn't matter much between RHPs or LHPs so he could start every day. So many players with higher OPS often hit a bunch of solo HRs when we don't need them & normally SO when we do. So OPS doesn't tell the whole story also OPS doesn't take into consideration stolen or taken extra bases that is the same thing as hitting a double or triple or harassing a pitcher when the game is on the line. Martin's stats will improve with time & frequency on the field. Seems like many look for reasons to keep Martin off the field but for the Twins to really be competitive they need to take advantage of Martin's abilities & find reasons to keep him on the field. I'm not advocating for him to spend a lot of time in CF.
  10. Who's idea was it to pinch hit with Margot? Was it Rocco or Falvey? IMO it was Falvey as always wanting to showcase his brilliant acquisitions. Rocco is one of Falvey's yes-men. This year is no different than last year where Desclavani was going make a huge impact in the rotation, Paddack was taking Gray's place & pitch 140+ innings. And Margot was to be our great defense replacement for Buck & RH OF bat to platoon & pitch hit for Larnach & Wallner. I don't know how acquiring Bader changes anything. Instead of expensive Margot going to be our great defensive Buxton replacement & RH OF bat to platoon & PH for Larnach & Wallner, it's now expensive Bader. Falvey will tell Baldelli to bat Bader as much as possible against LHPs & Rocco will do it.
  11. IMO it's a waste of money, money that could be spent on extending our own players. For too many years, Twins stuck with Cave as Bucks replacement who was terrible & lost a lot of games with him in CF. Now the focus is on a former elite CFer & poor bat hoping somehow he can turn back time. After crying we have no money that's why we can't improve the team, Now they're spending $6.5- 8.5M & plus '26 buyout for someone who'll cover for the LHPs for Buck when he's down (which I hope is minimal) & platoon for Larnach or Wallner to maximize his use. This amounts to very little playing time & impact to justify this amount of money that was spent. I can't help but brace myself for the negative aftereffects of trading away someone we really need to afford someone we don't need. Keirsey is a true CF a better fielder than Castro, Martin, Wallner & Larnach, with untapped upside. Bader shouldn't have anything to do with him but somehow he will.
  12. I remember when Garlic was the big thing. His big RH bat to use against LHPs. I thought what a waste of a roster spot, an all-rounded OFer would have been better. But year after year, the Twins way start to seep into our psyche & we start to accept totally the idea of platooning over developing a more complete hitter. I have yielded to the platooning idea. We need people like you to keep the rest us in line. I agree with you, especially in theory but it might take some time for me to totally agree with you but keep up the good work. You might not get this text if I'm one of those you blocked.
  13. If you put money in Falvey's hands he will spend it & then some. He has spent a lot of money but I don't see much impact. All the action he has done I feel there'll be a negative reaction. Right now my interest is leaning towards noninterested in buying tickets or buying any subscription to watch the Twins. But the negative reaction stemming from Falvey's transactions will push me over the cliff. Instead of gaining popularity they'll lose because of the negative impact.
  14. IMO we were much deeper in the OF (even before Bader) than the 2B, 3B & SS. With Julien's terrible offense & defense, he should be at AAA or traded. Correa, Lewis & Lee always hurt plus Miranda should be fixed at 1B leaves healthy Castro to sub all three positions & Martin to help out 2B. You take Castro out of the equation, that leaves a very thin & vulnerable INF. Yes, I don't consider Gasper as a viable MLB option.
  15. Yes, I wanted to comment on that, Twins lack very much a lead-off hitter. Having Margot, Julien, Larnach & Castro was very strange. Besides Margot's PHing record. Twins crazy weird analytics drive me crazy.
  16. It's unbelievable when the Twins are complaining about Castro's $6,25M salary, when he is so valuable to the team & then turn around to sign Bader (who's a bench upgrade on defense, especially as platooning cOF but leaves a lot to be desired offensively & IMO not necessary) to a $6.5-8.5M + '26 buyout. Swapping these 2 guys out shows very bad player evaluation & money mismanagement. Castro's time at CF & SS should be moderated. Hoping that Buxton & Correa play more often & that Keirsey & Lee are ready to play there also more often. But it's nice to have Castro around to fill in if need be at SS & CF along with valuable time at LF, 2B & 3B. With less time SS & CF would take off the burden & release more production. Besides putting Castro as a fire sale puts Twins in a bind & his market goes down. We'll never get what he's worth to us. He offers his services at 1B because he wants to stay here one way or another. Twins seem to always get hurt so he'll be busy & needed in other positions. His flexibility is always valuable to us by adding depth everywhere. It'll be a big mistake to trade away Castro.
  17. 1B is a waste of his talents. He'll be too busy subbing more important positions when he's not playing LF. MN has to find an inhouse player & stick with him. Not pick up a FA every year to man the position, taking away valuable experience from our players so they can perfect that position . We don't need a GG to cover for our 2Bman we need someone who can mash. Miranda is the one. Let him recuperate 100% from his shoulder surgery, by keeping him at 1B & productive. We do need depth, I don't trust Julien, Gasper, or Ford. IMO Lewis could use a break from 3B once in a while to play 1B. Give him a shot there where we could use more help.
  18. Thank you arby58 for the debate, Maybe most fit into this pattern but my eye tells me his defense plays in the MLB & my gut tells me he's a late bloomer & deserves the chance to prove himself on the MLB level.
  19. IMO starting '24, Martin wasn't considered for the backup Buck-CF position & was considered more as the RH bat on the corners & his natural position 2B. Castro was kinda the LH replacement, so during spring training he didn't get the reps there as he should & after spring training Margot was acquired to be Buck's RH replacement. Margot was supposed be that great RH bat & glove. But he never panned out in either (so you can appreciate my skepticism) & Castro was busy most of the time elsewhere, So Martin was thrust into the CF role, He made some great plays & made rookie mistakes. I've stated many times before that Keirsey was a much better option than Martin at CF. Martin was chosen over him because of his RH bat. Baldelli noted that they'd give Martin more reps at CF at spring training, which is a good idea but now I doubt that'll happen. The sticker is they couldn't call up Keirsey because Margot had his roster spot. It wasn't due to Keirsey's ability as a true CFer & offense. With Keirsey on the roster, IMO Martin shouldn't see any CF even if Bader wasn't around. So yes Keirsey's defense is well worth the bench spot that shouldn't be doubted & his hitting will come around to more than validate his worth.
  20. We both have an eye on the importance defense & I appreciate that about you even though we don't agree on the importance of defense at 1B & RF.
  21. Eeles started the Twins running & I took immediate note. I've been following him & he should be given recognition to be a viable MLB candidate. IMO he should replace Julien as the LH 2B option. But that won't happen because Twins will give Julien every opportunity even when it's obvious that he's toast. Beyond that they'll give their acquisition Gasper every opportunity to prove that he's not a MLBer. Eeles is a nobody to the Twins except a break glass option when all of their other players absolutely bomb or get injured.
  22. I addressed everything, If you want me to address your idea that hitting in lower MiLB matters & hitting in higher MiLB does not, meet the formula to suggest a MLB regular. Then I say your idea is off. Lower minors mean nothing if they can hit there & everything depends on whether they hit in the upper MiLB to gauge a MLB candidate. Let me add that during WWII many MiLBers entered the war. They came back older & reentered pro ball. Many had successful MLB careers. They did because they had character. Keirsey has character. & that isn't found on the spreadsheet.
  23. If you are talking about DH or 1B, then yes, I'd agree with you. But not CF
  24. You're right he's been hitting the last 2, for Pete sake. I was giving reason for delay which is very viable. It affected everybody, more those down the pecking order. Many didn't really make it back from the covid season. Let me add that during WWII many young MiLBers went in to serve. They came out older & entered pro ball again & had good MLB careers. They did because they had character. Keirsey has character.
