  1. I'd think that he'd be a DH & help out at 1B if need be. That'd affect Larnach, Bader will also affect Larnach, with Emma coming up. I'm afraid of Larnach's playing time will be limited.
  2. Some cry that 1B is so difficult & so important. I got news for you CF is a heck of a lot tougher & of more importance. To be good at it, you need a lot of MLB coaching, mentoring & experience, no matter if he had some time there before. Veteran Kepler was smart to turn it down because he knows it's not so easy (& that can affect you offensively) as some people think. Rookies don't have that luxury, they say play CF, you play CF ready or not. So he didn't get much of a chance because Margot got it.
  3. You prefer HR hitters that hit solo HRs when they don't count & SO when they do. Martin is a hitter that will try to get OB any way he can, turning walks & singles into doubles & triples, doubles into triples & triples into HRs. Causes pitchers to make mistakes so following batters can capitalize on them & spark rallies. He hits RHPs as well as LHPs. A perfect leadoff hitter the Twins can groom if they are smart. The Twins need to find ways to keep him in the lineup, not keep him off. If you don't care about all this, then you're not a Twins fan. He has made some really nice plays in CF but I agree he makes mistakes. I would not be disappointed if he started at 2B & they sent Julien & Lee down to AAA.
  4. I guess it could be cheap enough to have him on the bench & DH.
  5. You left out some important info like. His terrible '24 & that offense-desperate SEA waivered him. How bad his defense is & how much they paid him. "Oh. he'll just fill in for Miranda & Julien" that's what they said about Santana with Miranda & Kiriloff but in reality, Santana forced recovering Miranda & Kiriloff off 1B to more arm-demanding positions to keep their bats in the lineup until they ended up on the IL. Nobody off FA onto the MLB is that cheap, I don't expect France to be that cheap to justify keeping France on the bench where he belongs. Seth gave such a great article that Miranda would be our premiere 1Bman, it made too much sense. As always Falvey can't allow that kind of thinking.
  6. Everybody thought Scott Hatteberg couldn't play 1B, he didn't have the experience. But they showed everybody that he could.
  7. Miranda's last full MiLB season '21 , he was very impressive, he hit 30 HRs, 94 RBIs, .344 .401 .572 .973 Set him at 1B & let him recover 100%. & the above stats are what we can look forward to. Like I stated before I don't trust Julien & I'll add I don't trust Gasper, Ford or Alvarez to support Miranda. I'd like to see Lewis and Keaschal brought in to support Miranda. IMO they both could use 1B to keep them healthy & productive during this time. Let's keep it inhouse if all possible.
  8. I can't believe we agree on something chpetti19. The league had the book on Julien & many 1B/ DH types that had the same hitting approach. They have taken away his HR advantage, so he'll have to transform himself & if he can do that IMO he'll no longer profiles at 1B.
  9. I've always liked to be like ATL where they do a good job in player evaluation, drafting, development, trading & extending their players while avoiding FA as much as possible. I'd be willing to extend all of these players. Ryan, Ober & Lewis still have a lot of upside, so I'd try to get a deal on them by extending them. I'd be open to extending Jeffers if they could extend him as he is a backup catcher. But the Twins have hyped him up as a primary catcher & with Boras as his agent with Jeffers's good numbers as backup to make his overall numbers better, he's going to ask top starting catcher dollars. Which, I'm totally against another bad contract.
  10. The advantage of a Helman was if Buxton got hurt you could bring him up & be that RH bat that the Twins have to have & when Buxton comes back, Helman goes down. Bader, you are stuck with him & his salary. hell or high waters like Margot.
  11. I'm optimistic, Buck is in a good spot, and Correa seems to have a handle on his plantar facilitisis with shoe support, exercises & treatment. Steward seems to feel pretty good. Alcala, Lewis, Paddack & Miranda are one more year past surgery, proper health management will keep them productive as long as possible. I'm more concerned with Topa chronic knee & Lee's back, if there is a proper way to manage their pain & to keep them productive.
  12. Casas was allowed put together one good season, can he maintain that? Casas is more of a HR hitter, but Miranda is more of pure hitter yet he can put together a pretty high OPS. It might take a little before he's 100% & regain his stamina. In Miranda's last full season in the MiLB he hit 30 HRs.
  13. OPS, When he gets 100% & completes a full season he could get to a 20+ season.
  14. If given a chance Miranda can be just as good as Casas. Keep him at 1B & let him recover 100% & be productive as our primary 1Bman when he's healthy. Let's invest in our own capable players they pay the best dividends. Too bad if they don't fit into your weird analytics. I don't trust Julien, Gasper or Ford. If we can't go inhouse then trade for a cheap secondary MLB 1Bman.
  15. Falvey didn't hire Molitor, but Falvey probably was the reason why he was fired & Rocco was hired.
  16. You are right. I'm not sure how it'll end. Hope he'll figure it out.
  17. MN hasn't had a decent lead-off hitter for a long time. You could argue that Arraez was pretty good since he had high OBPs which I agree but what separates Martin from Arraez is his speed & ability to take & steal an extra base & intimidate pitchers to make mistakes to following batters or walks that spark rallies. Martin has always had a high OBP, he had high OPS in college & AFL it doesn't matter much between RHPs or LHPs so he could start every day. So many players with higher OPS often hit a bunch of solo HRs when we don't need them & normally SO when we do. So OPS doesn't tell the whole story also OPS doesn't take into consideration stolen or taken extra bases that is the same thing as hitting a double or triple or harassing a pitcher when the game is on the line. Martin's stats will improve with time & frequency on the field. Seems like many look for reasons to keep Martin off the field but for the Twins to really be competitive they need to take advantage of Martin's abilities & find reasons to keep him on the field. I'm not advocating for him to spend a lot of time in CF.
  18. Who's idea was it to pinch hit with Margot? Was it Rocco or Falvey? IMO it was Falvey as always wanting to showcase his brilliant acquisitions. Rocco is one of Falvey's yes-men. This year is no different than last year where Desclavani was going make a huge impact in the rotation, Paddack was taking Gray's place & pitch 140+ innings. And Margot was to be our great defense replacement for Buck & RH OF bat to platoon & pitch hit for Larnach & Wallner. I don't know how acquiring Bader changes anything. Instead of expensive Margot going to be our great defensive Buxton replacement & RH OF bat to platoon & PH for Larnach & Wallner, it's now expensive Bader. Falvey will tell Baldelli to bat Bader as much as possible against LHPs & Rocco will do it.
  19. IMO it's a waste of money, money that could be spent on extending our own players. For too many years, Twins stuck with Cave as Bucks replacement who was terrible & lost a lot of games with him in CF. Now the focus is on a former elite CFer & poor bat hoping somehow he can turn back time. After crying we have no money that's why we can't improve the team, Now they're spending $6.5- 8.5M & plus '26 buyout for someone who'll cover for the LHPs for Buck when he's down (which I hope is minimal) & platoon for Larnach or Wallner to maximize his use. This amounts to very little playing time & impact to justify this amount of money that was spent. I can't help but brace myself for the negative aftereffects of trading away someone we really need to afford someone we don't need. Keirsey is a true CF a better fielder than Castro, Martin, Wallner & Larnach, with untapped upside. Bader shouldn't have anything to do with him but somehow he will.
  20. I remember when Garlic was the big thing. His big RH bat to use against LHPs. I thought what a waste of a roster spot, an all-rounded OFer would have been better. But year after year, the Twins way start to seep into our psyche & we start to accept totally the idea of platooning over developing a more complete hitter. I have yielded to the platooning idea. We need people like you to keep the rest us in line. I agree with you, especially in theory but it might take some time for me to totally agree with you but keep up the good work. You might not get this text if I'm one of those you blocked.
  21. If you put money in Falvey's hands he will spend it & then some. He has spent a lot of money but I don't see much impact. All the action he has done I feel there'll be a negative reaction. Right now my interest is leaning towards noninterested in buying tickets or buying any subscription to watch the Twins. But the negative reaction stemming from Falvey's transactions will push me over the cliff. Instead of gaining popularity they'll lose because of the negative impact.
  22. IMO we were much deeper in the OF (even before Bader) than the 2B, 3B & SS. With Julien's terrible offense & defense, he should be at AAA or traded. Correa, Lewis & Lee always hurt plus Miranda should be fixed at 1B leaves healthy Castro to sub all three positions & Martin to help out 2B. You take Castro out of the equation, that leaves a very thin & vulnerable INF. Yes, I don't consider Gasper as a viable MLB option.
  23. Yes, I wanted to comment on that, Twins lack very much a lead-off hitter. Having Margot, Julien, Larnach & Castro was very strange. Besides Margot's PHing record. Twins crazy weird analytics drive me crazy.
