Gleeman & the Geek: Twins Traded Deadline Fire Sale
Doctor Gast replied to John Bonnes's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Because of the bad BP, the rotation will end up being stretched out further. The result is, as always, a burned-out rotation resulting in further to injuries & non-quality innings. -
Gleeman & the Geek: Twins Traded Deadline Fire Sale

I was super disappointed with the trades. Every trade we lost & lacked relevance. Where most of those trades should have blown our socks off & never came close. A Varland trade that no way should have happened. -
Gleeman & the Geek: Twins Traded Deadline Fire Sale
Doctor Gast replied to John Bonnes's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Correa was at his lowest trade value ever by far, so I wouldn't trade him. Much like the situation with Pablo, Ober, Larnach & Wallner. If he wanted to be traded, then tell him get your trade value up & we'll trade you in the offseason. If HOU really wanted him, then pay for the player he's capable of. -
The Twins' biggest problem wasn't about not getting enough money but how Falvey allocated the money he got. He feels he had to overpay for those players he wanted. He overpaid for FAs like Donaldson, Gallo, Vazquez and Correa. Donaldson & Correa were long contacts that we had to get rid of & paid through the nose to get rid of them. There are some FAs whom he didn't pay that much for but the players were so bad that he overpaid. They took big salary dumps on worthless players like DeSclavini, Margot & Sanchez, And gave a big extension to players like Paddack while rehabbing. We aren't NYY, where we can throw money around. We also had a lot of players that hit the top of their trade value & weren't needed, who could have been traded to shore up our fragile areas (where we didn't need to spend money). But they didn't & their trade values have tanked. He also extravagantly brought in FAs, where our own players were as good or even better than those they brought in. We could have made the Twins much more competitive w/o having to depend on a boatload from the Pohlads. Maybe in Falvey's mind, he thought he was signing an elite SS for many years, just like he thought many players he acquired were going to be good but weren't & SPs Mahle, Desclavani & Paddack's arms were healthy when they weren't. While Falvey thought he had an elite SS for years & paid for it, despite SF & NYM didn't think so. In reality he got a 3Bman for the bulk of the contract & should have paid accordingly. Since we are talking about how things could have been better. Although Falvey probably has an open door policy so players could come in & air their opinions. But I'd like to question how much does Falvey really listens? Correa shared that he had for 2 yrs. told Falvey that he needed to shift to 3B, Correa has made it known to Falvey who the Twins should target. It appears that it met deaf ears. Do you think that this could have affected the morale? Varland was sad & surprised about being traded & Paddack wasn't surprise but was sad. But they have adjusted well & are happy, both have dominated for their teams, Correa, Castro & Duran seem to be very happy & are also dominating. Although the Twins had the talent to compete, they were very flat, Could it because of the atmosphere the Twins created?

Games are won & lost in the margins. You might have OK pitching, even OK offense, but have poor defense & poor fundamentals, forget it. If you don't develop bunting, don't expect your players to bunt. Keirsey should have been sent down to AAA a long time ago so he could have been called up at this time. After sitting for an awful long time & when he finally played, he miraculously had a good game & then he was benched. Why not let him ride his good fortune? Martin had a good game & he sits. Julien isn't a 2Bman & he's not hitting, why is he playing every day?

Baldelli finally used long relief. Ohl isn't my favorite pitcher, but we really need a long RP, I'd prefer Sands but we are short on higher leverage BP.

Twins (Ober) vs Guardians (Bibee): 8/2/25, 3:10pm
Doctor Gast replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Archived Game Threads
Julien & Roden did such a great job last night that they're starting tonight & leading off (I don't know what it is, but Baldelli knows). Martin, you'd better clean up your act (I don't know what it is, but Baldelli knows). If the new owners take over in a few weeks, I can't wait for them to clean house from Falvey down to all that adheres to him. If they do that, they'll completely change the air of Twins territory tremendously for the better & restore hope. Otherwise, the dark cloud will continue to hang over us & continue to lose attendance. -
If the Pohlads were smart enough to walk away from Falvey, I wouldn't mind if the Pohlads stayed. But they can't; instead, they promoted him. Carl didn't know how to run a ball club, but he was able to find someone who knew what he was doing, Andy MacPhail. And won 2 World Series. Joe doesn't have that knack & is easily duped. If Falvey can dupe the next owner(s), we are in deep trouble. Falvey shouldn't be in charge of a rebuild. The Falvey start is horrendous. Why keep him around to further put MN in the hole they can't get out of?
-
You always hear from the Twins. "Don't look at the results, trust the process". What happened to the process? The process was broken from the start. They thought they were the smartest in the room, but they had no idea what they were doing. Results do matter; the long period of bad results, you have to wonder what's going on? They can't be wrong, so it's the players' fault for not executing their brilliant plan. Get rid of all of them!
-
What gets me is that Correa said he felt he needed to switch to 3B, 2 years ago. What should have happened was that Falvey acknowledged that & find a new SS & switch Lewis to 1B preseason. But in Falvey style, he did not believe what he said; he ignored reality & just plowed through with his agenda like nothing was said. Falvey has blinders on; he doesn't care or has any idea what reality is. He is always right, so why listen to common sense? Much of his foot & ankle problems could be related to him playing SS & the switch to 3B could greatly improve his performance & he could great help HOU at a discount at a bad time for us. If Falvey took his head out of his ,,,,,,,, computer, we wouldn't be in this situation.

Yeah, Julien was bad at 2B, not a great glove, slow reactions, not smooth at the DP & SO a lot, Gasper & Roden are AAAA players, they are Falvey's babies & will be showcased & given every opportunity for a miracle to happen. Fubberburk isn't good. Baldelli missed not putting someone in to bunt. Which CLE did correctly? So what's new? Why wasn't Eeles given a chance? He's more than deserves it, even though he doesn't fit their profile. With all the bad, it's easy to overlook the good, which most everybody did. Ryan pitched a good game, as did most of the BP. More so, Martin almost single-handedly won the game for the Twins. He did a good job at leadoff (which I've always advocated), and he appeared to have driven in the 1st run. He always makes things happen; his swinging bunt single ignited our only 2 runs. If they executed that bunt, Martin's fly ball would have been a sacrifice. The ball was really dead last night. Did Martin's fly ball have a chance to go out under different conditions? I don't know, I didn't see it & it wasn't shown in the highlights. IMO, if Baldelli did & had a little better player selection, If Kwan didn't play that ball perfectly & a little better execution on Lee going home. Martin would have been the hero. Like the author insinuated, Twins changed a lot in what was good. But what should have been changed remained the same. Baldelli's bad managing.

The Twins Finally Picked a Lane
Doctor Gast replied to Matthew Taylor's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Falvey has never been good at trying to initiate any trade & has always failed miserably. Falvey at the other end of selling is fixed, sit and wait. In the beginning he had some success but now the FOs know they don't have to offer him a fair trade & that he'll crack & settle for less. MN has become a garbage can. Where FOs go to dump their unwanted players & dump salary on worthless players & bring home some player after dumpster diving. I don't think the problem has never been Falvey fluctuating of not picking a definite lane. It's more him not adequately maneuvering in the lane he picks.- 301 replies

The Twins Finally Picked a Lane
Doctor Gast replied to Matthew Taylor's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Give me a break, Mike. A good defensive potential & overall 18/19 yr.old catcher you might say you have no idea if he can make it. Tait has no potential at defense. Well-respected pundits have said that he won't stick at catcher, But leave it to the Twins & you to think he can miraculously learn to be a passable defensive catcher on his own.- 301 replies

Ope, Didn't Mean to Let You Have Hope
Doctor Gast replied to Chris Hanel's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
You are probably right, but it doesn't make sense. France wasn't that expensive, so keep him as a platoon 1Bman & PH isn't a bad idea or even DFA him is better than giving Varland away. -
The Twins Finally Picked a Lane
Doctor Gast replied to Matthew Taylor's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
This will be '22 all over again when Jeffers was the primary catcher. Very quickly, he crashed & burned. Tait isn't a catcher; he's only a bat, but that's all Twins care about. It's much too early to know how Jimenez will turn out. How MN is developing catchers, it'll be a long time, if ever at all.- 301 replies

The Twins Finally Picked a Lane
Doctor Gast replied to Matthew Taylor's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Twins have been in limbo & confusion for so many years because Falvey & Co. are incompetent & have no idea how to manage a team. They have picked a lane, but it's going in the wrong direction on a one-way lane, leading to an accident. The solution isn't taking a distinct lane; it's taking the steering wheel out of their hands.- 301 replies

Agreed, the rebuild hasn't started because we didn't get anyone of value, Falvey just tore down. We had plenty of opportunities with trading either Duran or Jax to get great young players that helped to shore up our fragile rotation & catching, now & well into the future. Falvey couldn't be bothered to get someone of value (something he's terrible at), because his laser-focused objective was to tear down. What is the next step this next offseason? Trade off Lopez, Ober & Ryan because our window is slammed shut for years to come? Trade off Wallner & Larnach to jump start a new brand (doubt that will happen because it makes too much sense)? Trade off Jeffers because we can't afford his Boras extension (also doubt it because it makes too much sense)? More than likely, they'll make Jeffers their primary catcher & give him an outlandish extension (that's what Falvey does too well, unfortunately). Give their crown jewel Royce Lewis a Boras extension (don't get me wrong, I really like both Lewis & Jeffers). What's the outlook? Years of muddling in the cellar of a pitiful AL Central even after Falvey is long gone.

Falvey must have misread the memo by giving away some of those who should have stayed & keeping some of the players that should have been traded. Of all the idiotic transactions that Falvey has ever done (which is most), Varland's trade made the least sense. The last half of the Calvin Griffin era & the last 2 years of Falvey were pretty bad , But the last 2 days have been by far the darkest of Twins' history. It's hard to believe that the Twins would be able to give tickets away.
