  1. Rock and a hard place if Buxton and Jeffers sit. The Twins could put Alan Roden on 60 day IL if a catcher needs to be added today. Buck is likely to sit again with the cold weather being a reality. The guys playing need to hit and field. Maybe Zebby Matthews can throw 8 innings tonight to give the bullpen a day off. Players will need to step up with their opportunities.
  2. Tait looks like he is making progress when i watch him play (via milb.com). I would expect him to need a year at AA in 2027 and another year at AAA in 2028 to get up to speed at his craft. He will only be 22 years old if he can contribute on the big club in 2029. I'm hoping he can learn to be a good catcher. The hitting should take care of itself as he gains experience.
  3. Tough spot for the Twins. A team needs to roster two catchers and any change means someone gets added to the 40 person roster.
  4. I am curious - are you watching all of these players in games on a regular basis? How many Saints games did you watch where Jenkins was playing before he was injured? Just curious.
  5. Sunday was a low point for Royce Lewis. Three strikeouts and then he gets pinch hit for in the 8th inning. While I don't know how successful Arcia can be in MLB and want Culpeper to player another month at AAA, it does look like a change is needed. Lewis does not appear capable of adjusting at this time. A reset is in order. Maybe an IL stint with a few weeks in Ft. Myers is an option. Royce just looks sad right now.
  6. Sweet win. I know this team has more than a few weaknesses but they are playing hard. Today was a confort victory.
  7. No, I'm watching the Twins on big screen and switching between Saints and Kernels on small screen. Yasser Mercedes with 3 run bomb. Winokur with 4 RBIs. Defense matters. Two great plays means a solo shot.
  8. Today, for the first time, I am feeling sorry for Royce Lewis. Five pitches right down the middle ... nothing. Maybe worse, Royce swings at four pitches well out of the strike zone and every swing was full pull with little awareness of what the pitcher was doing. Maybe he can turn it around, but Royce looks more unplayable than any guy on the roster and the coaches know that.
  9. The Twins are at a tough place in their season as regards the makeup of the 13 position players. Buxton and Jeffers are clear keepers, although Jeffers is a free agent at the end of the year and may be traded in July. Lee, Larnach, and Martin have taken positive steps towards being contributors towards winning. That leaves eight players who have been walking a line below a level desired for a team seeking to contend in a weak AL Central. A few of these players are reasonable as part time players (Caratini, Clemons) and the second year player, Keaschall, is finding it difficult to fit in as an MLB regular. Bell, Lewis, Gray, Kreidler, and Outman are all iffy. The roster that opens the season usually gets 50 games or so to show they belong in uniform at the MLB level. Demotions and release are not often used before June except as strong steps to change a problem. The problem for the Twins is with their odds of gaining an obvious boost from the minor leagues. This conundrum makes the job of the front office difficult if the eight struggling position players do not turn around their seasons. June could be an interesting month.
  10. Molitor stays positive but focused on the game; he sees everything and points out small details when it makes sense. There is almost no nonsense talk with with Molly.
  11. Watching Prielipp was fun. The bats are who they are
  12. The Twins began the year with an odd bullpen but they have been ok recently. The real holes are with position player defense (although better than a month ago) and weak offense.
  13. Dasan Hill threw 72 pitches over 5 innings, no runs with 2 hits and 7 strike outs. Hill was mostly working on his breaking ball stuff. He hit 98 on his fastball a couple of times. Twins could use some bats.
  14. I'm not sure what can be done about Lewis. He turned the second one but looked unprepared on the first DP ball. Where is his head? Hopefully something positive can occur but he looks out of place in MLB.
  15. Baseball is hard and Royce is not only struggling but looking like he cannot adjust. Is he overmatched versus MLB pitching?
  16. Weak obstruction call. The speed of the play and the fact the runner was clearly tagged before he could arrive at. the bag and finally that the runner still had half the base to slide into made for a stupid umpire decision no matter how the rule is written. If a call on the field cannot be reviewed, why can the umpires get together and review it? The play was important and the ruling clearly violated the intended reason for the rule, which is to punish fielders dropping a leg so that the runner cannot reach the base, which actually takes time that was not possible on that play. Indefensible call. The runner was out before contact.
  17. This is a valid point. The umpire made the call and according to rule it should not be reviewed.
  18. Molitor is so good on the TV (or radio). He sees everything. Outman and Martin is a start.
  19. Defense is a real weakness for the Twins. It isn't as bad as at the beginning of the year so some progress is being made. The team needs a few of their players to vastly improve their offensive output to cover for their gloves or hope one of the "waiting for an opportunity" guys arrives filling both sides of a position player's job.
  20. Milwaukee will be a really good test of his pitching ability. The Brewers are a well coached team.
