  1. This is really depressing at the moment. The trading deadline is tomorrow at 5pm. Why did the Twins need to collapse today? I was trying to be positive when Paddack was dealt for nothing because it seemed from reports that there was zero interest in Paddack. Then we see that 2 months of a middle relief pitcher brings between SF and NYM. The worst (very arguable) game in Twins history infected the front office as well. Oh my. What could possibly be next? Will we hear that no teams were really interested in Castro or Bader? More?
  2. He has worked in big cities. I don't know what these guys get paid but he might have just made the Phillies dozens of millions. I'm just sitting here shaking my head. The Twins did not need to trade anyone but the expiring contracts.
  3. Wow. This was my initial reaction. The Twins had all the cards and folded on a hand that would play another two plus years. Incredible.
  4. Is there any indication that anyone among the ownership actually cares a lick? Maybe, but it has been crickets for a long time from anyone connected to ownership. Twins fans are left with trusting that Derek Falvey and his FO care about their work. I think they care quite a bit, even if I don't understand their mode of thinking regarding baseball. I wish them luck.
  5. So Charlee Soto, who is #13 in the Twins org.
  6. Yes, but Schwarber is a far far better hitter and only played 7 games in the field this year and 5 games all of 2024. So, I will allow a pure DH. BTW, Schwarber hustles too. You are correct, I'm real tired of the Falvey Twins.
  7. Well stated. As perhaps the most polite member of this online community you captured it succinctly. Mama said there would be days like this, but stands out as among the worst in Twins history.
  8. It will take a pretty serious conversation to salve that treatment of Jax. Jax is an established, if not famous, MLB late inning pitcher. Jax is probably the most disciplined player the Twins have had in many years. There was brief moment where it looked like he was going to go off in a big way on Rocco. I think Jax is almost surely going to be traded.
  9. I am. I'm tired of watching DH only types in the outfield. I'm tired of guys who are not aware of the game they are playing in. I'm tired of guys who cannot run. Wallner and Larnach would never have a uniform on my team. I have no idea what they are like as human beings. I will accept they work very hard and are excellent people. They interest me in the same fashion as Giancarlo Stanton and he hits bombs too. When I see how hard Trevor Story (big contract), Jarren Duran (still in arbitration), and Roman Anthony (raw rookie) play, hustling all out on every play .... yes, I get down on the jogging Twins.
  10. Salary relief is all that would be accomplished by trading Correa. That and letting him go play for a winning team. I doubt there would be a return player. The Twins might get off by paying $10M per year. Hard to know what's going on.
  11. Does anyone think Wallner, Larnach, Keirsey Jr., France, Vazquez, Clemens, and Gasper would even draw a lottery ticket in return? That leaves Jeffers, Lee, Lewis, Correa, and Buxton as MLB players on the roster. Bader and Castro are gone.
  12. The Twins need to reset after the off day tomorrow. I'm not sure the White Sox or Rockies ever looked this down and out.
  13. Believe it when it is done. The national writers need to create stories. Yes, they hear .... "is interested ...."
  14. The Phillies need players. They could use any or all of Castro, Bader, Coulombe, and a relief pitcher like Jax or Duran. They would become the favorites with the right moves. They lose in the playoffs without a couple of additions. Worse, they have a number of valuable players on expiring contracts too. Rock and hard place for Philly. Yes, much better place than our Twins but they need to make something happen.
  15. Ideally, Castro and Bader have the day off, but the Twins kept Gasper up which means nobody for the outfield.
  16. Willi has expressed gratefulness to the Guardians for trading him to a club that gave him a chance, to the Tigers for helping him to learn multiple positions, and he has loved his time with the Twins. I think Castro knows this is his last game as a Twin and that has got to be hard. More than any other expiring contract, I feel for Willi.
  17. It has to be quite an adjustment to play all out in high school and college and then get to the major leagues where jogging is ok. The young pitchers are likely gobsmacked by some of their teammates defensive skills.
  18. They show the replay with Clemens running and getting thrown out at the plate. Clemens seems like a guy who plays hard, but we can clearly see him not going at full speed a couple of times and easing up at third base before he then tries to score. Contrast that with Trevor Story busting his ass out of the box on every ball he puts in play (that I have seen). Why does a marginal player who has been released previously not go full speed any time he runs the bases? I don't get it. Is this a don't get injured running hard team philosophy?
  19. Was watching the play at the plate several times with Clemens. I still have no idea when a blocking call can be made against a catcher. I'm not sure I ever liked the rule, but agree with a reduction in injuries. Wong is not a big guy and at one time he would have been run over for blocking the plate.
  20. This is approximately how I see this deal. No further offers forthcoming. The Twins wanting to move Paddack. No other teams making calls. Deadline coming. Get it done. Ask for more but clearly declined so just negotiate a new home for Dobnak. Detroit says ok. We have zero idea but this makes sense. Detroit pretty much has the AL Central wrapped up barring a fantastic collapse but they also want home field, so any negligible addition might help.
  21. Right fielder ran a long way to catch that ball by Jenkins; impressive. Jenkins swung the bat well.
  22. The article is a stretch. Paddack had virtually no market. The Twins didn't want to hold him because he does nothing for them except as a fishing buddy for Brooks Lee. The Tigers made a call, conversations ensued, and a deal was completed. Unless this catching prospect actually reaches MLB, the entire deal is not noteworthy for the Twins. Besides now Dobnak is in Toledo which is closer to his home.
