  1. In my opinion, the most forgotten [underrated] player of the 1980s was Gary Ward. Glad you have him on your list. Gaetti forgotten or underrated?? Are you kidding....we all remember the Rat and his clutch play and big hits in the 1987 run. Shane Mack would be my pick as the most forgotten and underrated player of the 1990s. In the 1991 series he batted 5th....ahead of Hrbek and behind Chili Davis. A career .299 hitter with lots of athletic ability.
  2. I will watch. Holding my nose...if you will. If these spoiled over-paid brats [that I love to watch] go back to work ONLY because they have powerful entities supporting them [TV, MLBPA, etc...], and millions of non-essential scum can not work because of the lack of that kind of support. It is not only immoral......but bad PR for baseball. How about the essential workers that don't have sufficient PPEs?? Play ball and give it all to charity. Or sit down and spend your millions you already have in the bank. Just my advice....
  3. Well....at least Buxton didn't re-injure himself. That in itself is a miracle.
  4. Question -- Is Pineda down at Spring Training? If so...does he look good?
  5. ....and wouldn't it been fun if the AAA team played in CHS field in St. Paul and not in Rochester, New York!!! Would love to wander down to St. Paul to check out what may be heading to the big club. Send the Saints back to Midway [is it still there??].
  6. Again....the disaster called the "playoff series with the Yankees".......was the fault of our thin bullpen and Pineda being suspended. Not our "top" 3 starters. Berrios handed the ball off in relatively decent condition in game 1. A Rookie then began the disaster. Odorizzi started a game when the series was basically over. He should have been the starter for game #2 in Yankee Stadium [a place he has pitched many times]. And the disaster was on.
  7. The only thing I can predict....is the Mets will be predicted to win the division AGAIN in 2021....and not do it....AGAIN.
  8. Build them billion dollar stadiums, pay them tens of millions to play ball, and networks rake in billions in AD $$$ -------------- and this is what you get. You get people "looking" the other way after obvious cheating. They don't even bother taking away awards or trophies. Different era....same reasons for cheating. The difference is they now have a Player's Union to tell them being "remorseful" is enough.
  9. Congrats to a great Player...and a very interesting listen from the booth. I am a little surprised to not see The Rat on the list. One of my favorites...and a very clutch player with an excellent glove.
  10. Here is a silly question. Why not, as a precaution, change the signs up for every batter [as they do when someone is on second]? If they can "feel" that the signs are being stolen....do something about it. I am not defending the sign stealing cheaters. Baseball has lots of problems....add one more.
  11. Yes. .....and we don't yet know how widespread it is.
  12. Starting pitching is over rated these days. Just find guys who can go 5+ innings without giving up more than 2-3 runs on average.....and let your bullpen bring it home. That's where the talent needs to be. They are the pitching heroes today......unless your name is Verlander. The first few innings are so low-leverage....you don't need to waste lots of money and high-end talent on guys like Thor. Please don't... Plus...I want Buxton one more year, before I get tired of him.
  13. I would like it if they spent the "Donaldson money" on more veteran BP help. If that is possible [don't have anybody in mind]. Not that I would turn Donaldson away....but he isn't coming here. Solve the 3B problem by signing a glove at SS [as has been suggested in this comment section]. Move Sano to 1B, Polanco to 2B [where he started his career], and Arraez to 3B [he is a rookie...he will embrace it]. The starting staff is now better than how we ended last year. Not saying much....but it is better.
  14. Got me on that one. But I'll stick by my overall point. Which was -- They do a very good job spending their money.
  15. [unless they sign with the Yankees...then they head to the Hall of Fame]. They have a way of "handling" those big free agents.
  16. This is a baseball problem. They won't fix the team payroll problem because they want the Yankees to be one of the best teams in the MLB every year. Can't wait until the next Yankees vs Red Sox ESPN TV series. Gosh it's fun. I hope Costas is doing the games. Gosh he sucks.
  17. Too be honest about all this.............nobody ever does anything over the winter or at the trade deadline....except the usual suspects [Yankees, Dodgers, Mets, Red Sox, and an annual exception]. The coastal elites [to borrow a political phrase] make all the noise. It's baseball's market-size problem that the coastal teams don't want fixed. So it won't get fixed. So what....lots of ways to skin a cat. But the Twins should have signed Bundy before the Angels got him. That is the type of pitcher the Twins should look for....and of course bullpen help [veterans ONLY please].
  18. MadBum is a liar. He wants to pitch in the National league so he can PITCH to NL pitchers....not so he can hit against them. Such a crock. This feels like another Lance Lynn situation. A good pitcher with an attitude = bad results. So long MadBum. Have fun with the Dodgers. How about a clever sign-and-trade with the Dodgers - MadBum for some Dodger bullpen talent?? That might be too clever. Never mind.
  19. Pohlad was looking for an excuse to lament and let us know that he "got outbid yet again....damn". He can use this article to fashion himself a nice excuse. But no worries. Remember, if Pineda had been legal..........Berrios, Odorizzi, and Pineda would have been a decent 1-2-3 punch in the playoffs. What we should be investigating, is how to get MadBum types in the bullpen. We need 2 or 3 to go with the young live arms we have there now. Not much out there [i understand that]....maybe a clever trade is in order?? Or plow thru until the trade deadline next year?? Then unload a prospect or 2 to get bullpen help. Like last year.....er, I mean....
  20. The main issue with this team is the lack of veteran arms in the bullpen. I don't know enough about the Bullpen Free Agent market to have solutions....but I do know where the Twins have issues. Why not just get rid of Perez....and spend money on the Bullpen and one starter? Both scenarios I've seen on this web site mess with the everyday lineup too much.
