    It looks like the trade route is the way we are going. I do hope we sign Donaldson. I like the idea of going into the playoffs with the number 1 ranked offense. Solid rotation and bullpen.

    Also last year Keuchel was rumored to want a 5 year $100 million. He could end up with 5 years and $94 million in contracts and $87 million after proration last year. Not bad for him.

    The good news is this should take Chicago out of the Ryu sweepstakes. It's either us or LA at this point.... Our next option is likely trade but for whom?

    If the Twins don't make the upgrades, then it makes it harder for me to justify upgrading my tickets to the ones that cost 3 & 4 times as much. That may not seem like much to the Twins owners but I know I'm not the only one who has to make deductions like this. Do I pay for the $10. Ticket, $25, or $100. If I feel the Twins are all in I will gladly buy the $100 tickets. Right now I am at $25 ticket. I want to feel like I should buy the expensive tickets to keep from missing out.

    Cody Allen is still Available. So is Carlos Gomez. And for that Loogy there is Zack Duke. Kendry Morales is still available for 1B. Kintzlers is still available to be a mid relief pitcher. So is David Gale. And lots of other former pitchers

    The next rookie who will slide in and be successful while being under the radar is Tyler Wells. Who remembers him from a year ago?

    Here is how I would structure my offer so I can win the bid. 3 year 66 million with 1 million incentives for 160 innings and 2 or 3 million at 180 innings. 5 million buyout of an option 4 season that becomes guaranteed with either 185 innings pitched year 3 or 350 innings over years 2 & 3. Year four has a salary of 23 million with same incentives. Total guarantee is 71 million with the potential to be 101 million over 4 years. I mean go ahead and play with the numbers but that I how I would structure my offer to give him maximum dollars while minimizing my risk. You still have to structure it so the guarantee is high compared to others and the incentives are reachable and reasonable. I may be willing to make the 5 million buyout a 10 million buyout. That guarantees Ryu practically 25.33 a year for 3 and makes it a smaller choice to accept/ reject the option.

    We still need 1 more veteran starter. If we were rebuilding it would be different but since we are not we can afford 1 spot in the rotation for a rookie. We already have another open spot for 6 weeks or 5 or so starts. Let's get that 1 more starter whether it be Ryu, Keuchel, or even Terehen. And I will happily trust the 5th starter spot to a rookie.

    The teams we could potentially trade for a pitcher due to budget or team is rebuilding include: SF, Col, Pittsburgh, Miami, Boston, KC, Det, Sea. Maybe Cubs.

    I like signing Romo. I am good with signing another mid reliever as well. Kintzlers is available. As is Swarzak. Also I hope we go get either Ryu and sign a cheap 1B, or Donaldson, Wood and Smyley, or trade for an ace and sign a cheap 1B. And call it an off-season

    I was just looking at Kintzlers stats and was thinking, we could sign him too. I doubt he costs too much.

    I am not screaming this time like I did about the Darvish lack of signing. But I don't get it. They won 101 games last year. They are 1 starter from being better than last year, and they are not done making moves. I do hope the Twins decide to sack up and pay someone. Even a little too much just to say we went for it and paid for the upgrade. That gets that monkey off our back and allows us to move.forward.

    I am annoyed because the Twins have labeled Bumgarner as one of their top targets. And we easily have the capacity to overpay once on a contract to get the player. It would be different if Bumgarner received a 5 year 110 million deal. But even on this 85 million 15 million is deferred.

    D C. Twins,. Last year we had three teams tanking. Next year we may have two depending on what Chicago does. With 19 games against each means we should win 70% against a tanking team. That's 13.3 wins against each tanking team. Against a team competing we should fall in the 60-40 or 55-45 depending on how competitive they are so against the Sox I would go so far as to say we should win around 55% of the time with more moves by both teams. That comes out to 10.45 wins. Close to a 3 win difference. Allow for variance and now we are a 96-98 win team without regression. With regression. I would say we are a 90-95 win team. And the 87-92 is if we are in a division where there are no tanking teams.

    If we want to upgrade it's gonna be for someone like Donaldson or if LA signs Donaldson we could trade for Turner.

    Why trade for Seager when we can sign a similar 1B for 5-8 million. Lots of those to choose from...Moreland, Cron, Smoak, Thames to name a few.

    I also want to add that Anaheim is 30-35 million from the luxury tax threshold. I think their highest payroll has been 165 million give or take. How high do you think they want to take payroll now.?

    The biggest competition for Ryu is from LA. LA is also in the hunt for Madbum. If LA signs Madbum, then Minnesota becomes the next team who is aggressively pursuing him. You think the Angels who also need pitching would go after him but looking closer the Angels are now 15 million over.last years payroll with a need for a C, Reliever, and 1 or 2 more starters. Last year no starting pitcher had more than 18 starts for the always injured Angels staff. There is another starter who better fits their needs especially with a great IF defense. Keuchel is rarely hurt and rarely misses starts, pitches lots of innings and is cheaper than Ryu. I also don't think the Angels will go to hard after Madbum either. Why do that when they could add more stability with Terehan. The cost of Keuchel and Terehan would be close to what Madbum costs on a yearly basis. Therefore I expect LA to get Madbum, Minnesota to get Ryu, and Anaheim to sign Keuchel. On Donaldson it's going to come down to preference. I see the big three suitors as Washington who will offer defferrals, LA, and Minnesota. I think LA could win the bidding but Minnesota can offer the chance to be at the heart of a historic offense. I hope that LA is content after signing Madbum as I'm sure they want Minnesota to be content after signing Ryu....All teams are capable of winning so it will come down to offers and preference.

    I can see him here in Minnesota for the next 3 seasons. His career wont be long 4 to 6 seasons max. He is a solid 3rd string C that can play other positions. if he can OPS close to .700 he is OK as a back up. adding C means he can get away with a .680 OPS and still be valuable. I put the over / under on career at bats at 1500. I just hope he gets to do something fun in a World Series while he is on the team. That way he will be remembered forever in Minnesota.

    With Rendon and Simmons in the IF, Keuchel makes a lot of sense. He won't cost as much either. While Bumgarner and Ryu would be nice. They already have Pujols, Trout, and now Rendon on the books for close to 100 million. That makes me think Tehran would be the 2nd pitcher they prefer, or someone in that range who can pitch 180 innings
