  1. I know this was talked about in another thread but Demuth a top 10 Twins pick from a year or two ago that didn't sign was drafted in the 5th round by the Mariners
  2. on sam clay this is what MLB.com had to say
  3. MLB.com has more info on the players in their draft section. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/draft/y2014/drafttracker.jsp#ft=round&fv=3
  4. Now that we have more facts, which of these decisions was the correct one?Signing Stephen Drew to a 3 year 39 million (his asking price) or Escobar at SS and Nick Burdi as our 2nd round draft pick and future bullpen arm?
  5. If we have 2 draft picks make the majors its a good draft so if Burdi and Gordon make it then we have a successful draft. Hopefully we can get 1 or 2 more major leaguers out of it.
  6. So would having an overpowering RH and LH reliever tandem to set up and close out games when were competitive again with Fien, Zach Jones, Deunsing and Thielbar and Tonkin. Now that's a pen.
  7. Seth's first comment in the mock 3.0 article
  8. Twins up 4 - 0 but with Corriea pitching I am not comfortable with the lead yet. but getting there.
  9. I am curious as to how our top prospect list looks with Gordon. I wonder when we will see the update in the list.
  10. I am going to go with a proposal of Max Keplar and Deunsing for Jon Jay. that seems fair to me or if St Louis would rather go with Darnel Logan for depth I could do that too.
  11. We could go on a tear and win 85+ games this year like we did a few years ago when the Twins made it all the way back to force game 163 after they went something like 73-32 to finish the season. It is possible....... I am optimistic and I have us at best case scenario 85-86 wins but more likely 78 - 82.
  12. I think it says he read the newspaper. linking to a newspaper would be an interesting trick.
  13. last year this team was worthless when Joe Mauer went down. THis season we are competitive despite his slump. (meaning we are not dependant on Joe being a super star not joe sux)
  14. I wouldn't object to a Willingham extension. He is filling a hole in the lineup and Sano and Buxton are not coming up right away next year as we originally planned. 1 year 8 million with 2 million incentives for plate appearances with maybe an option year. Deduno is one of my favorite players so I hope he hangs around a while. I realize that's not an argument for him to stay on the roster but ....Guerrier is too. I think he'll be here for the year and I can see him here next year on a 1 year 2 million or less. Santana can stay in CF and Escobar can play SS as long as Escobar can hit .270+ and Santana remains productive. There is a CF who may be on the market soon. We could probably get him for a prospect like Max Kepler and a bullpen arm maybe......and that would be Denard Span. there are reports on MLBTraderumors.com that they may consider moving him. And the last part of the transformation beginning is the 2 corner stone FA are also on the roster now. Hughes and Nolasco that's 400 + innings in the rotation the next several years.
  15. Due to smart roster management I think Corriea should stay until at least the all star break. I was extremely against the 2nd season on his contract but Gibson could still implode or get hurt. Deduno could get hurt too. If we replace Corriea and that happens we will have all of the depth up from AAA that we have. There will be no where to go should one or 2 of these guys not be ready yet. This would also cripple the AAA Rochester season as right now they are highly competitive and would want to continue that as they haven't been too competitive for a while. After the allstar break we will have more certainty on Gibson and with fewer starts left there will be less time for injuries to cause major problems as by the time a replacement failed we would be near the end of the season. Right now there is too much season left. I am fine waiting till mid to late July before we start promoting up after trading Corriea. Plus if Corriea pitches better we could trade him to a contender like Toronto who is in contention and has an offense. but they will want to see better pitching from Corriea too. (Toronto is looking for a pitcher but doesn't want to give up a lot in prospects or pay a lot of money. Corriea is a fit if he improves. He hasn't been mentioned but others like Hammels has.)
  16. Seth, When do you plan on updating the prospect ranking list?
  17. Also for Promotions. I don't pretend to know all promotions needed but I am not in a hurry to promote Barrios to quickly. He just turned 20 and just became a dad. He has a lot going on without the added pressure. Though I would consider sending him up for a few starts at the end of the season unless fort myers is going to the play offs. I would like to find out if Tomshaw is this years Baxendale or if he can cut it at AA. AA and AAA are not that different in terms of promotion so I don't worry about that one too much. There are several pitchers on both staffs mostly AAA that deserve a promotion to the majors. So I am hoping we either go on a big tear with Corriea pitching and winning a bunch of games or we trade him and bring someone up who can get acclimated to pitching in Minnesota. My fear is Gibson is teetering on the line of being a 5th / AAAA starter and 3rd starter. I hope he takes the full step forward and becomes the number 3 we all hope he can be. Otherwise we do have other pitchers about ready to take his place.
  18. Stuart was the best defensive C in the draft and should move quickly to be a back up if we go off of his defense. But his bat isn't that great. I think it's a little better than its been but not much. I don't know about the other C Garver other than he came out of know where and has been hitting.
  19. If he remains as dominating as his last start or close to it for several starts he'll have to get promoted. But I am not pushing the issue until the last month of the season. We have a lot of timeavailable for him to grow. There's no reason to push him. though if he goes to AA at the allstar break he may be in the competition for a rotation spot next spring. That's a fast track. I'll really be surprised if he beats Buxton to the bigs.
  20. Nice Hedge. The contract likely will either be a Joe Mays contract or a real bargain.
  21. As I recall the Twins have used their roster for these types of players. Presley was a rule 5 pick up. Florimon was a waiver claim, Escobar was part of a salary dump, Burton was a minor league free agent signing, Fuld was a waiver claim. Lots of examples of how we do this all of the time.
  22. Kohl is also getting used to throwing lots more innings than he's used to. So its understandable if the Twins would want to be a little cautious with the use of his slider this season. I'm sure he is still on an innings limit this year.
  23. Corriea had a 4.76 ERA in May. its moving in the right direction but still too high. I am fine waiting till the allstar break. After that I hope the Twins are able to find a way to get atleast one of Rochesters deserving pitchers up here.
  24. Does anyone know what happened to Zach Jones? I see he has been on the DL all season. He was the reliever with the 100MPH fast ball.
