  1. Hasn't Colorado lost 17 of their last 20? that's where the increase in possibility of a sweep against them comes from. The Twins have their record against better competition then they are playing right now to get to the record they have. I think if they are around .500 at the deadline they should sit still and not move everyone. What do you expect them to be able to get? we have lots of prospects but wouldn't it be better to build a foundation of winning that the prospects coming up can move into than getting a C level prospect at best in a trade?
  2. If the Twins Sweep Colorado they will be 45-49 heading into the break. We play Cleveland, Tampa Bay, Whitesox, and Kansas City. If we go 9-4 in those 13 games we are at 54-53. Do we go in sell mode at that? This is the easiest stretch of the schedule we have so at worst we should be 52-55. I don't know if I would want to sell at that point as I would rather see if we can be a better than .500 team this year. We have so many prospects that if all we can get is a c prospect, I might rather keep the player and see if we can win. Corriea might be the only exception as he may be blocking talent from arriving if Nolasco comes back healthy. But I wouldn't trade Corriea until after Nolasco is back.
  3. Doesn't Pino have the highest or second highest K rate in the rotation? His WHIP is 1.35 which is a little high but overall he has been solid.
  4. As a fan I am not a big fan of the oh well I give up this year. Lets trade everyone and just quit. I would rather the Twins or any other team (Astros) have some dignity and make an effort to win games now and in the future. I think teams that sell off should forfeit their first round pick to keep too many teams from doing that. (that may be a little harsh) but their should be some kind of penalty for throwing in the towel like the Marlins do every so often and the Astros have done the last few years. Last year looked like a competition the last few weeks for draft pick position for the next draft as the bottom feeders were all loosing games at a fast pace. I am not saying a team should loose a draft pick for trading a player and going young, but if a team throws in the towel and trades everyone there should be a price to pay of some kind. With all of that said, Corriea is a good piece to trade and maybe a reliever or 2. and maybe one of Morales or Willingham as Colabello and Parmelee are able to fill in and Vargas isn't far behind. But I think we can finish this month strong and be competitive this year. but I would wait till the end of July to decide as this is the easiest stretch of games we have all season. If we are around .500 or better we are in it to some degree.
  5. There should also be some relievers from that draft too.
  6. looks like he only has about 50 innings left this season based on what Seth just posted. So he'll likely be back at AA next year to start the season. That's ok. Next year he'll only be a phone call away whether at AA or when he goes to AAA eventually.
  7. At least you don't have to watch your comments now.
  8. So he gave up 3 hits in 18 at bats. 2 mistakes resulting in HRs. 4 Ks in 5 innings. a little wild with 3 walks probably nerves. How is this a bad performance besides the 2 HRs. I mean even with the 3 walks he had a WHIP of 1.2 which is better than a lot of players on our team now.
  9. I can see him starting next April in Fort Myers because of the weather. Once the weather warms up he moves up. or he could go to New Britain.
  10. Also they are going to have lots of 40 man roster decisions to make this offseason. Why add one more spot taken to the mix.
  11. Here's an interesting story in the making going on right now for a starter for next year. Pino was 1 out away from a quality start 2 starts ago when he gave up a hit and the 4th run. that out would have him with 3 quality starts out of 4 starts. something to build on.... Yes I know he is 2 out of 4 in quality starts but if he continues to show he belongs then..... we could have the next Bob Tewksbury on our hands.
  12. I think the stories tend to go where the interest lies for the team as a whole. Lately the Twins are loosing a lot of 1 run games because the offense has been inept. not a fun topic, while The Twins have tons of top minor league prospects that are succeeding and getting promoted and making progress coming back from injury. That is much more fun to talk about. The first month of the season when the Twins were hitting the content went towards analyzing if the Twins could maintain and be a .500 team this year.
  13. I am glad to see Turner turning his season around and showing he can in fact hit a baseball. I know the defense is almost major league ready so to see his bat come around gives hope that he can make it as a big league starting C. I would like to see Diebenson Romero at least get a September call up if he doesn't get called up earlier. He definitely has earned it.
  14. In Nolasco's defense, sometimes its hard to know when to say when. Sometimes its hard to say I need to slow down or I need some help, especially when its for a task you feel you should have a handle on it. Sometimes as the one in the middle of it all you don't realize your causing a problem till its too late. Competition gets the better of you. But this has obviously been going on for a while, and that's the issue I have is that no one questioned him 5 or 6 starts ago. He's struggled all season except for a few decent starts in May. In baseball, its a daily grind so you should expect to play sore. If its affecting your play after a few weeks and your results aren't getting any better then you should look into it. The soreness may not be a major injury but having a player back at a level where performance improves is important.
  15. I thought the move to sign Nolasco was a real good one. I still think he has value. I do think he needs a break to get away and restart. Hopefully the allstar break is enough. but something needs to change. Has the back up catcher caught him at all? someone mentioned it could be working with Suzuki earlier in this post.
  16. Well, it looks like we are going to have our prospects make it to the majors together. May, Meyer, with Berrios right behind with Sano, Buxton and maybe Rosario next year with some of our relief prospects. So its looking more like the youth movement will really take off next season.
  17. I think he'll make an ok 4th OF as long as he can get on base over .320 -.330 and steal bases. He'll have enough of a career to be set for life financially. He'll probably end up with over 300 stolen bases and that is nothing to sneeze at. (yes overall he is sub par but he isn't without value to the team)
  18. The Twins traded Worely because he was going to be buried here at AAA and be so far down the depth chart that it was addition by subtraction for us. And it was a chance for redemption for Worely.
  19. We could probably include a reliever too. I imagine Seattle could use another one with out going over their roster.
  20. with 3 starting pitchers in the top 50 makes me like the odds that at least 1 of them will pan out. Also when is Seth going to do his top 50 prospect update midseason version? That's usually a good read.
  21. with 3 starting pitchers in the top 50 makes me like the odds that at least 1 of them will pan out.
  22. If Berrios dominates the rest of the season in AA could he earn a Sept callup?
  23. I think Perkins is more valuable to the Twins than other teams. He is signed below market. He is from here, and an allstar caliber player. I am almost ready to give up on the season. If the Twins are going to make a move, they have to do it pretty soon. If they are not over .500 by the end of July then we are definitely out of it.
  24. I do want to point out that the Anderson has had a lot of success with our bullpen pitchers. Theilbar is solid, Deunsing is too. Fien came out of nowhere from Detriot. Burton was successful before his injuries and came to Minnesota and was successful (compared to Worely). Guerrier was an Anderson success story too wasn't he originally from the Whitesox or Cleveland organization as a failed AAA starter? I don't hold any stock in Worely he came off an injury and was overweight and out of shape when he got here. That's a lot to come back from especially his stuff isn't that great to begin with. Didn't he have the lowest swing strike rate? Most of his k's came on pitch location and getting the calls. I do think he is a solid pitcher 4/th or 5th starter. I was hoping he would develop into a number 3 with us but I don't see that now or ever.
  25. so I guess Dozier didn't make it.?
