  1. I do think beyween Vargas and Grossman we keep Grossman because he is cheap high on base percentage and we need rh power to handle lh pitchers better. Vargas is lh so i feel he is the more likely option to go.
  2. My offseaon blueprint is similar. I dont see the need to release Vargas or Grossman at this point but 1 will need to go so we can get a rh power hitter. there should be some inexpensive options available with the glut out there. I like Seths picks for the pen. I agree with signing 2 relievers. I would also be happy if they resigned Kintzler as one of the relievers or a different one who is almost as good. I also agree we should get a short term contract for the rotation intead of a long term one. I like Vargas as well as Seths pick and Cobb could be a good buy medium low candidate. I also would be fine with a Darvish contract.
  3. I think Burdi is out all next year too....just sign kintzler and belisle and run with it
  4. I think Burdi is out all next year too....just sign kintzler and belisle and run with it
  5. I would go with any of Gordon, Romero or Gonsalves cause they are all so close to the majors. Rooker and Lewis are close and may even be better but are far enough back, they have more hurdles to jumo to the bigs and i think that plays a role unless you have an obvious generational talent. I do think all 5 will play in the bigs at some point.
  6. Morneau signed a front loaded contract a few years back.
  7. I actually fully agree with your numbers. Maybe do the year before as an option too. But thats nitpicking here.
  8. The Twins could use a RH power hitter for the middle of the lineup. The lineup is a little lefty leaning. There will be several options available as power hitting 1B is an excess on the market. We can sign one who is still on the market lingering to a 1 year contract as Rooker or Palka should be ready at some point. Park could make it as well. and we have internal rotation options as well (Vargas, Grossman, Escobar, Garver or whoever they swap out for defensively). If the Twins go out and sign a hitter then its likely that one of Vargas or Grossman will get cut in spring training. Neither will be too expensive my guess is Vargas, but a RH power hitter will give the lineup more balance and the FA signee will not likely get 500 AB unless there is injuries on the team because of matchup and rotating door for others to DH. Also i suspect that if they sign someone they will not likely make over 5 million next year so it won't be a big drain on the budget so we can go after pitching.
  9. I would be surprised if they didn't resign Kintzler next year. He likes it in Minnesota and i could see them working out a 2 year with option or 3 year contract. If they can get Belisle on a 1 year deal again for around 3.5 to 4 million I would do that. But in all seriousness, the Twins do need to sign a second reliever. I do like the idea of signing Wade Davis and using Kintzler as a set up man. That gives 3 different looks from Hildenburger the side armer to Kintzler the ground ball machine to Davis who overpowers hitters. then we just need a good lefty. (Tyler Jay.....)
  10. I see the Twins going after Kintzler. I like Minor, gregerson, Joe Smith as the 2nd reliever. And if the Twins sign a 3rd reliever expect minor league deals or at best Belisle if he wants to return for around 3 million or so.
  11. I might try to front load the contract to make those fa years left. Add 5 million to each of first 3 seasons and subtract 6 in each of last 3 or so.
  12. I expect the front office to strike fast for a starter. That will set them up to wait out the offseason for a hitter and they would just be on the hunt for relievers.
  13. There is an abundance of 1B on the market, so i think they can find a bat at a reasonable cost. Pitching will be interesting. We will definately have better depth with several starters ready in AAA next season. Once we find one starter the bullpen will be the big concern.
  14. I'd up the fa years to 20 million for all 3 years.
  15. Last offseason i said extend him. This offseason i say it again. At the end of his 5 year extension he should have over 300 HRs, 1000 runs, and some other good counting stats maybe 750-800 RBIs. He likes it here and we are in contention window. Why wouldnt he want to resign. We are not too far from Mississippi where hes from.
  16. I was thinking 5 years and 65 to 75 million is what its going to take to sign him.
  17. Rosario Hildenberger Santana Buxton/Dozier tie The MVP is close enough to call a tie. Dozier helped keep the team focused after trade deadline. Buxton gave pitchers confidence to pitch and know the defense can make outs.
  18. Mlbtraderumors.com show us with 20th draft slot next year at this point.
  19. Well if they get a hit off the Yanks bullpen. They practiced a lot of bunting to scratch for a run.
  20. I actually have Colon in this discussion as he went 4-0 after the trade deasli e in august and showed Gibson how to pitch and succeed with crap so Gibson turned a corner and Colon definately kept things light. A good vet to have around.... But my vote is a tie Buxton / Dozier....southern power...
  21. Why did the chicken cross the road?......To prove to the armadillo it can be done....
  22. Kansaa city is the team with a schedule similar to ours. Everyone else has harder schedules.
  23. He will still need some counting stats to get in. 1000 + RBIs 2500 hits 500 and preferably 600 doubles and i think the conversation goes more in his favor.
  24. I wonder if Colon "trusting his stuff" and succeeding is such the example that it is helping the others to do the same and now were seeing them succeed too.
