  1. Its like signing Beliesle but with more Ks. He had the same results being unscored on in 50 of 61 appearances and had 5 appearances where he gave up most his runs. Just like Beliesle.
  2. If we signed Darvish, we could afford to trade top pitching prospects for Archer. So a package of Gonsalves, Jay, Gordon, and Kohl and maybe someone else could be enticing. With a rotation of Darvish, Archer, Santana, Berrios and Gibson/ May / Mejia, plus still have Littell, Sledgers, Jorge, and Romero and Thorpe still on the farm.
  3. good insurance if we dont pick up Santana's option next season. this gives us more payroll flexibility in that regard.
  4. i guess this is insurance on Santana option not getting picked up and Gibson. i thought we had 6 starters in AAA knocking on door to bigs going into next season. we need someone for next season. Though it will help for Pineda to pitch away from Yankee stadium.
  5. i hate the yanks too
  6. i agree with bith comments above. spend on either bullpen or rotation uogrades and trade for the others. 1 starter and 2 relievers minimum.
  7. Seth, Where would Severino rank? And did we move back to a top 10 farm system with these new prospects?
  8. I was hoping we could use those funds to help aquire a reliever. we probably woukd need to add a propect too. but.... I agree with John and am glad they were drafted this year. Pearson appears to be the Angels version of Enlow. getting a player who dropped for signability issues. The Catcher is the new Stewart for our org. nice glove no hit catcher.
  9. angels have bedrosian, giants have strickland i guess, i dont kniw who seattle has but i bet we can find a controlable reliever that thriws gas for our international funds and.....
  10. i wonder what we can trade for with our extra money to help those still in it give him a reasonabke offer. could we trade with SD for hand with international money and a prospect like tyler jay and kohl stewart.
  11. i wouldnt count on anything comming out that fast. i would suspect those five teams are at the top going into the process. but that doesnt mean he has decided yet.
  12. if im ohteni and i focus on the areas of concern first to find the 3 best places to play. then i go to them and say you are getting one of the best players at a low cost...trade for some cap space to sign me to the best bonus you can. while money isnt his motivator. a few extra million doesnt hurt either.
  13. of course we may also be in a spot where we have to give up prospects to sign him too.
  14. so if ohteni agent is smart he will try to lower the amount of teams left in the running to 2 or 3 with a week to go to see who can improve their offer. maybe get to 3 to 6 million give or take. so the winner of Ohteni may have to trade a few prospects to get him. if we are not in the running then we are in the drivers seat to demand a really good prospect for the cap space to sign ohteni.
  15. i wonder if a team such as seattle or texas would trade their international cap space for a player like kohl stewart or some other prospects so we could get our offer up to 5 or 6 million before Ohteni signs. Of course Ohteni would let those teams know ahead of time so they have time to make the trade. if a team really wanted him they could trade their way up to 7 to 10 million so he could sign. would you offer Gorden for Texas 3 million cap space if it gave us ohteni? or which Yankees prospect should we pry from them for our space?
  16. i think Park would have had a shot if he produced in the minirs next year and vargas fizzled or someone was hurt. but Rooker is rising fast and our new front office didnt seem enamored by him either. but if we are able to sign Ohteni then he would get the potential at bats the Park would be fighting for next season so there would be almost no chance for Park. so i guess the contract he got in Korea is the best outcome dor him.
  17. actually stats show bunting is a negative play on a macro level. on a micro level, i guarentee there are times it makes sense to bunt.
  18. i would have protected atleast 2 mire players. and i feel justified to question the front office for that too. we can debate who, but we still have the opportunity to trade these guys too.
  19. plus with the public getting these rumors that the Twins are doing what they always do but now making it visible so it helps create interest and sell more tickets. thus allowing bigger tucket expenditures. but now we have to get one or its a huge let down. getting a solid starting pitcher and 2 solid relievers not on a minor league contract work for me.
  20. they have tje space for a 1 year blip on payroll. they can spend 35 million on Darvish and 2 relievers next year knowing Mauers contract is off the books along with others.
  21. how do you figure Lynn get 150 million. that number is over 50 million or more then what he will actually get.
  22. as a 5th OF that brings Otani sure. also needs to make less than 1 million cause we have 2 options with same skillset. or he can bring Darvish instead of Otani as well.
  23. Ivan Nova has 2 years and 18 million left in his contract. could probably be had for a prospect or two. would Businetz and Kohl Stewart be enough? This isnt meant to be our only pitching aquisition either. but him and another starter makes our rotation look good.
  24. I am also in the camp of a Dozier extention. A 4 or 5 year extention at 14 -15 million per season seems fine to me. He can also slide over to first at some point.
  25. I do think beyween Vargas and Grossman we keep Grossman because he is cheap high on base percentage and we need rh power to handle lh pitchers better. Vargas is lh so i feel he is the more likely option to go.
