  1. Neshek currently pitches for Philidelphia on the last year of a 3 year contract making 6.5 million. He could really help our pen right now. What would he cost in terms of prospects? This is not a should we thread. This is what do you think his value is in terms of our prospects in a trade. We can talk about the merrits of should we get help in another thread.
  2. So he wasnt on the roster when he had TJ? Good
  3. I think its about time for Belisle to go. I dont think Pressley has an option so to the DL. Need to trade for Neshek with Phils. He'll be a FA after tje season but i bet he would sign a 2 year 10 million extension to play at home. And try bringing up atleast one of the kids.
  4. Just a reminder that Sano is a free agent in 4 seasons including this one. I would trade anyone in A ball and below and be choosy about certain AA or AAA players depending on what we get back. Also why trade Santana since he will be here for 3 more seasons. Next season we get May back to go with Berrios, Mejia, Santana and ?, Sledgers, Gonsalves, and Romero and possibly Vanderbuilt pitcher could be in the rotation next year. So i am fine with a rental starter. I think Neshek is someone we should target. I would trade Haley and low A prospect for him. Not sure on starting pitchers but i would rather not wait.
  5. I would be willing to give up a lot more for pitchers with multiple years of control then for a rental. For Cole i would give up Gonsalves, Mejia, Gordon, and another prospect. That would give us an ace during this run we are currently on. We have several good prospects coming in the draft. We do have another internal starter option. As Sledgers looks about ready for a call up from AAA. As far as getting a rental depends on Hughes comming back, or Gibson turning it around, or Sledgers if he can come up. And I imagine they will want a month or 2 to sort through that before making a trade. I am also interested in trading for Neshek as im sure he is available from the Phils.
  6. Hughes arm felt dead meaning no umph to his pitching. I think some time off could help. He's close to 50 innings after being out most of last year. Could just be too much too soon for him.
  7. Aaron Sledgers is in AAA too.
  8. Neshek could be had from Philly and wont cost too much. As far as a starter is concerned i can wait if Berrios is gonna be good. I think aquiring 1 reliever and bringing 1 up is the best route. 1 for high leverage and 1 for low leverage and get experience. Pressley and Belisle are pitching better of late.
  9. The good news is we have options. We could probably get Neshek in trade too. I just hope the front office takes some positive action soon and stops dickering around with retreads. If were contenders then Haley, Wilk need to go and we need bbetter results from Pressley too. Id have to check but i think most of Belisle crap is from a few really bad outings. He may need to go soon too. We can easily remake the pen and results matter.
  10. We were 5 when i wrote that. Also why are we better now then last year. Answer maturing young players and Santana. Young players can get better with experience. I am assuming Berrios is up for good and solid.
  11. Neshek could likely be had for a prospect. He could help our pen.
  12. by the end of the season we will probably have 2 or 3 names in the top 100 (See draft) and by next year we could have 4 or more depending on how some of our prospects return from injury and how some advance (Thorpe and Romero) so not a big deal. We have lots of reliever prospects which is good because we need some relievers to be ready to win jobs soon (Now). The ranking has no bearing on club needs.
  13. keep in mind the old regime pretty much put the pieces in place for our current run minus 2 relievers and 2 catchers. We are on pace to win over 90 games this season. Right now our questions are who will be our 5th starter? can we get some bullpen reinforcements either from the minors or by trade? and one more hitter to protect Sano would be nice. but I'm not sure where that hitter would go unless its either Joe Mauer heating up or a new first basemen with Mauer going to the bench.
  14. We have so many reliever prospects. I wonder when we start calling up the good ones. Also we could make a trade for old Neshek as he may be available with the Phillies off to a bad start. Gibson would be a decent trade. If Gibson can be a 4th starter there that's a win for them. He isn't getting it done here. Its not like the Phillies gave up anything to get Neshek and they get back a potential 4th starter. or we could trade over some other combo of prospects and stuff. Also wanted to be clear, with so many relief prospects I would like to see some of them start coming up but if the preference is to wait till late summer. Then, if we can make a trade now that will help us continue to carry forward and win considerably.
  15. So for Cahill, who would we need to send? How is SD farm? I dont remember it being strong. Would Wade and a reliever or kohl stewart get it done?
  16. And get a consensus trade idea out there
  17. I agree with the number 4 starter. I like the CaHill idea and Hellickson could be had too. I just know how much everyone here clamors for an ace and Darvish, Greinke, and Cueto could be available this sunmer with lots of 3/4 starters. I too get tired of bad trade offers which is why i was trying to get the community to analyze options and propose their own ideas and maybe do a pole to see which trade proposal we think is most possible.
  18. Keep in mond there will likely be more pitchers on the market then last year by a large margin and there wont be many first round picks as consolation prizes so sellers loose a lot of.leverage over years last. Something to think about.
  19. In that scenario we get an ace. And someone to replace Santiago next season. While the prosoects are good and Romero is even a potential ace. He is not on the same timeline as our current core. Loosing Jay hurts but we have lots of relivers knocking on the door now. We have Buxton so Wade is at best a 4th OF here. AZ gets the benefit of prospects and saving 140 million or so. We have Mauer and Santiago comming off the books soon to offset cost. Now i dont kniw the full value of our propects but is that enough. Why or why not.
  20. Ok so if there are lots of pitchers available. You can get one at a reasonable cost. I will give you a scenario. Say the Twins are 56 - 44. Would you want to trade for a 4th starter or ace. You decide and communicate your answer and any premise you need to add to justify your decision. Or just say no trade and keep it short. Cause this post is about taking action. I think getting a 4th starter helps win the division or compete with Cleveland but an ace gives us a better shot in playoffs. I like someone like Greinke if AZ chips in some money. What would i trade? Here is a package i would consider. Romero, Jay, Wade, Palacious or Engelb, and maybe another pitcher from a group of pitchers to be named. And Az kicks in 30 million. How far off from a trade am I?
  21. I also meamt include trade ideas too but kets not stray from the topic
  22. So back to the original question.....IF....tje Twins are in contention, should we trade for a starter. If Berrios zucceeds this time we will have 4 starters. We could go for Greinke if Az falls further back. He is signed for years and we can trade less talent deoending on how much contract we take. Remember Mauer is done after next year. Or we can go after a 4 starter. It depends on what you feel as a consensus feel we need. Pleas only reply with either Greinke, number 4 starter or name who you think we can target. When we get a consensus we can figure out a fair trade package to send.
  23. I'll be honest. I loved both of Hughes contracts at the time they were signed. If Hughes pitches 180 to 190 innings of 4.00 to 4.5 era he is worth the 13 million he is being paid. Which is why i liked the second extention. There was room for him to regress and provide value on his contract.
  24. Ok so far im hearing that no one would go for it if we have a chance but you would do the Terry Ryan thing and go after a number 4 starter. Ok who is fair to trade for a 4 starter. Who would you trade for Estrada or Kennedy? And then lets do a poll to work towards a consensus to weed out crap offers.
  25. What would be fun is to try to come to a consensus agreement for a package to offer from the community. Maybe take the 3 or 4 top proposals and do a poll for the Twinsdaily pitcher to target and what we think is fair value....
