  1. Castro has done a nice job for us. I'm glad he's on the roster. I certainly don't want to diminish his accomplishments this season. I'm happy he is on the roster. However, Lets look at his numbers in regards to how Rocco runs his roster which we should all know by now is heavily influenced by the left/right split. Thus Far in 2024 (Small Sample Size Alert): VS RH Pitchers: 93 AB's - .204 AVG .612 OPS VS LH Pitchers: 25 AB's - .408 AVG . 1,279 OPS 78% of his AB's have been against Right Handed Pitchers. Career (Large Sample Size Alert): VS RH Pitchers: 1053 AB's - .238 AVG .688 OPS VS LH Pitchers: 430 AB's - .277 AVG .724 OPS 71% of his career AB's have been against Right Handed Pitchers. He is below league average against Right Handers but is deployed every day against them due to necessity caused by injury. Again... He's done a nice job for us in his every day role with the club but he has been below league average against Right Handers thus far this year and throughout his career. This is the price you pay when you commit roster spots to short side platoon specialists. Injuries are always going to change everything. We spent 3 roster spots on the short side to the tune of 13.35 Million Dollars in 2024. Injuries happen and they become the guys who have to face right handers and they struggle at doing that. Our injuries thus far this year have been to Right Handed hitters... when left handed hitters get hurt and they will... the situation becomes worse. Again... I don't have a problem with Castro on the roster. I'm a fan but the reality needs to be pointed out.
  2. I wasn't able to watch the game so I'm hesitant to comment based on my reviewing of box scores. The only thing that I can assume was that Duran was warmed up. Rocco might have gotten him up to rescue Jax. It's nice to have multiple relievers who can be called on to pitch the ninth and it's nice to have the opportunity to deploy your biggest gun in other innings... not just the ninth.
  3. I think it's very important to pay attention to who typed what. If you don't... that's how you end up with the impression of some sort of collective opinion amongst a bunch of individual opinions.
  4. Makes sense but I assume there has to be a breach of contract first. Assumptions that I can only make without knowing when the payments are due.
  5. Diamond Sports Group is having this issue with 12 different teams to varying degrees of Comcast percentages of households. What happens with the advertising contracts? They all have a different value now and decrease in value the longer this drags out. When the Twins go to the mail box looking for the check... It can't be good news but I don't know how this Bankruptcy stuff works. Hopefully someone can shed some light.
  6. They need total control of their product if they want to expand the reach and increase the number of consumers of their product.
  7. They signed a one year deal with a media company/regional sports network that COULDN'T GAURENTEE REGIONAL coverage because of an expiring deal with the largest cable television provider in that limited REGION... also a company under bankruptcy proceedings using an outdated delivery system that demands exclusivity to restrict access.
  8. Post All-Star Break in 2023. He was statistically one of the best players in baseball.
  9. If he continues at this pace in 2024. He'd would be in pretty rare company. I would expect a QO if an extension can't be reached. I can't really comment on Kepler though. I would have cut him last June.
  10. One of the top hitting catchers in baseball. Am I over rating him or under rating him?
  11. Willi Castro has started 18 straight games.
  12. The 7 snobbiest cities in Minnesota got into my news feed. I didn’t click on it. The 10 best pizza joints in Minnesota got into my news feed. I didnt read it. I read this article from Cody Christie and by clicking on it. I probably doomed my algorithm.
  13. I don't know... So I will ask. How much does the bankruptcy proceedings influence the negotiation between Comcast and Diamond? On the surface... you'd think that Comcast held the cards because this has to be a huge revenue hit for Diamond but, with the shadow of bankruptcy hanging over them... isn't there a possibility that the Twins will not see a penny of this thing? In a nutshell.. Considering everything and the games to be played. Forget about the Twins and Comcast for a moment... What does Diamond want to accomplish here.
  14. I'm no different than anyone else. I can roll my eyes at times with the some of the content but at the same time... I can only imagine that providing content every day has to be very very very hard to do. Yet it has to be produced. Without content... how can the site sustain itself? How much actual news is being generated daily to provide subject matter for a website that NEEDS content generated daily? An article can be written on the 10 game win streak or the sausage. How is that different from the article about the 9 game win streak. Things just don't change that much day to day to provide the interesting content necessary until every once in awhile something big happens... like all of sudden not being able to watch the game or the Twins trade Jorge Polanco. The next thing to consider is what does the community react to. What trips triggers? An article on Matt LeCroy is written with 3 replies and 85 views over 5 days compared to an article ranking which veterans are most likely to be let go which generates 69 responses and a close to a thousand views in less than 24 hours. "Who gets the blame for the Twins poor start" generates 94 replies and 2,300 views. You and I don't control the content... we shouldn't. Everybody controls the content. Everybody votes every day with their interest and the Macarena spends 14 weeks at #1 on the charts. There is enough content here that I'm able to find stuff to vote for but I understand what you are saying.
  15. The topics you introduce are intelligent, timely topics worthy of discussion.
  16. @Jocko87 @wsnydes @Dave The Dastardly @Craig Arko Thanks so much... truly kind words. It was a team of people... It was a community. It was a good run. Fun while it lasted.
  17. Not many realize why your use of the word "untangle" is a perfect description. I don't know if this map has been updated but a map like this exists in the "blackout" world. The entire country has been claimed. If anyone thinks Oakland moving to Las Vegas was just something you decide to do and simply do with no complication. Look at the map. The Angels, The D-Backs, The Dodgers, The Padres are all laying claim to Vegas and probably seeking some compensation for the A's taking over the market. The Giants are also in the group of Teams with Vegas market share but I'm sure they are not complaining about Oakland leaving the area. Do you want to move a team to Portland... Good Luck... The Mariners are going to scream about it. Do you want to move a team to Brookings South Dakota... Good Luck... The Twins are going to stop that from happening. 😁
  18. I don't know if it is possible for anyone to miss the game thread more than I... because I miss it so much it physically hurts. Twinsdaily users who have joined more recently won't know exactly what I'm referring to but I'm am talking about the Glory days of around 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013. The Twins on the field were about as bad as it gets. Lots of losses yet the negative comments were few and easily dismissed or passed over because the majority of game thread participants were having a fantastic time from Chief's Dad Jokes, to Bark Art, to all of us. It was an incredible group of participants. I wrote a lot of openers during that stretch with the wonderful help of Squirrel. I tried my best to start with that fun tone. It was hard to come up with that much weird stuff daily but regardless if I was successful or not, I did it with pride and I never looked at it like it was a burden even though it kind of was. I was a fully formed adult with fully formed life responsibilities, a full time job and yet like a kid who couldn't wait to open packages X-mas morning, I couldn't wait for the work day to end so I could go home, turn on the Twins and just let those adult responsibilities slip away so I could laugh, joke with all those wonderful people on the game thread. Every... single... day, the game thread was going to be a way to end my day with a smile on my face. There were times that I was laughing so hard that tears were coming out of my eyes. It's really hard to explain to your wife why you are sitting in a living room by yourself watching the Twins and laughing audibly out loud. I honestly can't express how much I looked forward to it... every... single... day. Sadly, those glory days were probably not sustainable because here's the deal. When a town grows... it isn't just Andy and Opie moving into town. Otis is coming to. By about 2015 I started to notice the pendulum swinging the other way. The negative posters started to arrive which is going to happen with growth and as time went by those numbers grew and the people who made me laugh started waning and it just kept getting worse every year. There were many days that I showed up excited to game thread in Glory Days style and the glory days were gone because there was literally no one to play with. The room was filled with fire this coach, how stupid is that player. I was an avid game threader because It made me happy. There is enough negative in this world to challenge everyone's happiness, I do not want to seek out more of it in my off time. So, I would simply close my lap top by the 2nd inning and leave. One less guy trying to have fun while only the rats were left to chew on the woodwork. Woodwork with craftmanship that a lot of us put a lot of elbow grease into. Once the tide had turned with no sign of an ebb. Those game thread intros that were not a burden became a burden. The time I spent on the game threads was only sending me to bed angry. I crave happiness... I don't want to go bed angry. So, eventually... I just pulled the plug. I mourn this loss. What I lost was important to me. More important than I can express. I've tried to jump in on occasion lately but the room is still to... not what I'm looking for. It will be almost impossible to bring the game threads back to the glory days because the negative is here to stay. The only chance to at least make it better is participation from people who would actually like to be happy and those folks don't surround themselves with unhappiness to find happiness.
  19. Agreed -- Accessibility! Blackouts are a very simplistic symbol of the root of the problem. Blackouts are only necessary because nobody is going to hand you 50 million a year for the rights to broadcast your product unless those rights are exclusive. Once you grant exclusivity you are limiting accessibility and exclusivity is granted for $$$. They are paying for 50 million market share and audience level which determines how much they can charge advertisers and cable companies. If you are eroding that market share through other offerings... you will be paid a lot less for the rights if paid at all. Exclusivity is a necessary evil in order to get the most money I don't have the how because it isn't just as simple just simply doing it. But, as @Jocko87 suggested... the clubs need to take the broadcast rights in house in order to be every where every one is on every device. They don't need Bally sales professionals to generate revenue for Bally. They can hire their own sales professionals to generate revenue for them.
  20. Jay Jackson is the only possibility because there is only so much roster space that you can devote to your bullpen. The rest on this list are here for the year.
  21. If MLB is involved. That makes it harder for me to target my frustration. This package for 2025 better be good!
