Trade Target: Twins Should Say "Hello" to Adell
Fire Dan Gladden replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Always a fan of high upside, low cost players. We all know a change of scenery, a different coach, a different voice can have huge impacts. While not a complete flier, I would imagine the cost would be relatively low. Nice find Seth! -
With the exception of Buxton, Correa, and probably Duran, every player on the roster is a potential trade piece. Hearing names come up in talks should never surprise anybody. Talk is cheap. I would be extremely surprised to see Arraez be traded unless it is part of a big name trade. They really do not have someone "prepared" to take his position (like Miranda at 3B). The potential replacements are unproven. A young, cost-controlled, infielder that is realistically top quarter to top third at their position is nothing to sneeze at. Factor in that he is a fan favorite, and you have a valuable asset.

How Bad Did the Twins Need Andrew McCutchen?
Fire Dan Gladden replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Kind of feels like you could take out Andrew McCutchen and insert just about any FA right handed hitting OF into this article. Not sure how the Twins missed out, or even may have missed out, on anything here.- 12 replies

Have the Twins Improved the Roster this Winter?
Fire Dan Gladden replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
On paper, this is the same team that was in first place a large chunk of the year with a whole lot of talent on the DL. Vasquez, Gallo, and Farmer are all moves to improve or raise the floor. Yes, there is a lot of "prove it" coming off the DL, especially with the pitching staff. But if those guys just perform at their pre-injury level, your improvement is right there,- 29 replies

The Case to Bring Back Miguel Sanó
Fire Dan Gladden replied to Jeremy Nygaard's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
In some ways I feel bad for Sano. Fair or not, the words potential and expectations have chased him forever. He got jerked around in our system, had some injury issues, and was chastised for a lack of work ethic (not 100% sure how warranted). While I think his skill set would fit into something the Twins need, I do not think he should come back here. He needs a fresh start with no level of expectations from the FO or the coaching staff. In some ways this is a positive for him because he can really choose his next step. That being said, we all know how this is going to turn out. He will go to the Orioles or some other low level team and hit .270 with 40 HR. That is the Twins way...- 55 replies

Three Areas the Twins Need Change During 2023
Fire Dan Gladden replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Baserunning was a disaster. Agreed that this needs to be better. Not sure what to hope with the infield defense. There is a good chance Arraez will get the lion's share of time at 1B, especially if the bat continues to be strong. A healthy Polanco will help. Correa is Correa. Miranda is a huge wildcard and more than likely a regression. On the flip side they will have the best defensive outfield in baseball unless they trade Kepler. A common denominator among winning teams is luck. If the luck thing goes the other direction for the Twins next year, it could be a huge swing.- 25 replies

I agree with your take. The FO knew how much risk they were willing to absorb, and it worked out for them in the end. But the FO will not get any credit at this point, it will be viewed as luck, which is a shame. When you dig into then minutia of this contract, Correa really did not get anything he was hoping for. The Twins are paying a premium for his "best" years, and really only have to pay further if he continues to be a viable starter after that. I really don't understand how anybody can be upset with this contract. This isn't a Lance Lynn situation. Correa could have probably gotten a similar contract from other clubs. This was one of the places he wanted to be, and ultimately chose to sign here. Think about that for a minute.... one of the best players in baseball chose to come to Minnesota. How can you not be optimistic about that? For the rest of you... well... haters gotta hate.

The Twins' Road to Nowhere
Fire Dan Gladden replied to Matt Braun's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Hey Paul, Thanks for the comments. Without going down a huge rabbit hole, I just think that Dan Gladden is an atrocious radio guy. He still makes multiple errors every game, leaves a ton of dead air time without calling the game, and generally provides little to no insight to the broadcast. He makes the Twins games unlistenable. I truly have no clue why he is still part of the broadcast team.- 59 replies

The Twins' Road to Nowhere
Fire Dan Gladden replied to Matt Braun's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
They have an almost full starting rotation coming off the DL, I would call that a boatload... I don't think I have been accused of being a "rose-colored glasses homer" in all of my comments. I am not really defending the FO, more calling out people making wild claims about the FO. Many to most of the comments made here are based out of anger and/or other emotions. Even the TD "insiders" only bring a certain level of certainty. Many, many assumptions are made. You can't use that type of historical data to account for the actions of this FO. To say that Terry Ryan wouldn't go after high priced FA is fair, but you can't hold that premise against this FO. A lot of people jumping on me for my initial comments: While not as aggressively negative as many of the other posts we have seen here, this article does attempt to attack a process without having all the facts. I appreciate the time and effort put into writing this post, but it cherry picks contracts to support the stance and uses it as a springboard into why other things did or did not happened. Show me how 1 year contracts perform as whole. Show me how 1 year contracts impact other signings by all teams, not just the Twins. Where is the statistical data to back up your statements. Without that, there is simply no proof or justification in anything, just a lot of conjecture. The bottom line is that all of us, myself included, that think they know what is going on in the Twins FO really don't know. Period. Nobody here at TD knows. I don't need to know who the sources are to know that everything that comes out of the FO, either publicly or "leaked" needs to be taken with a grain of salt. What are the motives? Lastly, TD is a place to share opinions. I get that. But the amount of vitriol and negativity on this site is overwhelming. As I was told elsewhere, if I don't like it stop posting. I have slowed my reading here because the articles keep retreading the same approach or the same conjecture. I have slowed my commenting as well. I don't need to comment on the two or three follow-up stories about a signing after I have already posted on the first one.- 59 replies

The Twins' Road to Nowhere
Fire Dan Gladden replied to Matt Braun's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The entirety of your article dances around these statements. Why aren't the Twins spending more money and only signing one-year deals. When they do sign long term deals, the look to trade them right away. They are penny pinching on Correa. You cherry pick contracts that did not work, many of which were fliers that everyone knew were lottery tickets, or make good deals that came very late in the signing season and use that as a basis to describe the entire Twins ethos. Outside of a very few, players sign short term deals and move from team to team. The days of collusion and players staying with one team their entire career are basically over. As an overarching statement, this article is yet another in what has become a reoccurring theme over the last few months: Focus on everything bad that is the Minnesota Twins. No new information, just regurgitation of the same opinions.- 59 replies

Does Andrew McCutchen Do Anything For You?
Fire Dan Gladden replied to Lou Hennessy's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
So the Twins have something like nine OF on the 40-man, they just signed Joey Gallo to an eruption of negativity, and you want to gauge the whether the Twins should sign another OF that brings virtually nothing to the table but a name?- 35 replies

The Twins' Road to Nowhere
Fire Dan Gladden replied to Matt Braun's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I am so tired of commenting on articles and stories like this. The Twins didn't sign anybody, so they have no focus, no direction, the FO sucks, torch the owner... 1) Stop assuming efforts aren't made. 2) Stop assuming the Twins aren't willing to spend money on a particular player. 3) Stop assuming they should be in on every FA on the market 4) Stop assuming every FA wants to come to MN The Twins have a boatload of talent coming off of injuries, they upgraded at catcher, got a placeholder replacement for Correa, made the decision to go with MIranda at 3B, and picked up another viable piece in the OF. Stop saying there is no plan. Stop saying everyone is dumb or cheap. Just say you don't agree with the plan currently being taken.- 59 replies

Sorry guys... Gallo is not penciled in at RF. At the moment he is penciled in at LF. Kepler is still your RF. He will be until he is no longer here. Still waiting to hear anything other than conjecture he is on the trading block...

WE MUST TRADE!!!!! sorry mob, Be prepared for your Opening day starting OF to be Gallo, Buxton, Kepler. There has been zero discussion on this being the best defensive OF in baseball. You don't think that will help our SP?

Rumor: Twins Interested in Michael Wacha
Fire Dan Gladden replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
I understand the logic. For me, especially if the price is right, he represents potential veteran pitching depth at a higher level than Archer or Bundy. He may be seen more as a BP guy, depending on how they are looking at him. It is getting tiresome of people trolling every single move the Twins make. "Everything is wrong because the Twins don't pay and nobody wants to come to Minnesota."
