    The thing that bugs me is when a couple guys get called up in succession and one guy is used and does well, and another isn’t used, usually because he’s trusted less. Ultimately the guy that gets used gets sent down and the guy that stinks keeps collecting the MLB check until the big club is brave enough (or forced) to use him. I call this the Kohl Stewart effect.

    I'd say it's the only possible answer that the person asking the question can expect to receive. That doesn't make it true OR false, just completely meaningless to analyze and report.

    This bears repeating on a regular basis. Fans treat these interviews as the truth, probably because content aggregators (like MLBTR) also treat them as gospel, for self serving reasons. (Edit: Also because many people are always looking for reasons to be mad) But, as you point out, OF COURSE that's not the case. They are in the middle of a week-long negotiation. Why would they give their "opponents" any reason to have any sort of extra upper hand. They're smart. Of course they aren't going to do that.

    Ultimately it comes down to organizational philosophy. Do you want you window cracked open for 10 years OR Do you want you window all the way open for 5 years OR Do you want to blow the window wide open for 2 years Cracked open windows are cheaper than blown open windows. Cracked open windows provide more job security for high impact employees (Front Office, Manager, etc) Blown Open windows almost always are preferred by fans. Small to mid market team probably don't win championships very often without the "Blown Open" approach, but it can also send those teams into a multi year downswing

    I haven’t found a way to look up bases loaded stats within a date range, but our stats for the year are so laughable I can hardly post them....Overall - 205/226/301 2 outs - 139/205/194

    I went to the Angels day game in May and he was hitting like .140 to start the game. Got a couple hits that game and has never looked back.

    I'm curious about a deeper analysis of triple plays. Like what percent of them are fluky where someone was trying to get an extra base. What percent of them are grounders vs liners vs flyballs. What's the most common? 5-4-3? Is there a database?
