  1. I mean, even if you're crazy low on him, you still need to mention him in "Depth Starters" right?
  2. Not even a mention of Randy Dobnak, who, as best I can tell, is still rookie eligible.
  3. If you can get 400 total inning over 3 years, which is close to what he’s totaled the last 3, and he’s anything resembling the production during the last 3 years, then 27M AAV is completely fine
  4. Totally agree. April games are 50/50 at best for good weather, but it's not like if you played for the Angles you wouldn't have any chance of running into crappy April/May weather on the road. I get it. It's a negative, but I've always though more has been made of it that what it should be.
  5. It would also be pretty interesting to know what percentage of players that played at least 5 years for a team, after they retire, end up living within 100 miles of that city.
  6. Random thought.... To counteract some of the negativity on the cold in MN as it relates to free agents, It would be really interesting to put a pin in a map of where all of the Twins players on the 40-man are currently. I'm guessing a pretty low percentage are in MN. Point being, if you don't want to spend winters in MN, then don't.
  7. Oh wait... Sano would be 1b. Still if they felt they needed more room for something, Rosario makes sense
  8. This was exactly my thought when I saw Rosenthal’s tweet about entering the Donaldson sweepstakes. Combined, those two would be 45-50M per season, which puts payroll in the 145M range, which SHOULD be fine, but if they felt they needed to clear some payroll so they could sign a 1b, then Rosario is the most likely target
  9. Something I've been thinking about but just officially confirmed.... I think mentally, one of the benefits for Asian players playing on the West Coast is the amount of flights that can get them directly to their home country. Makes sense. I thought I remembered a new route from MSP to ICN (Seoul, South Korea) being talked about, and sure enough, in April of 2019 Delta started a new direct daily flight between the two cities. That might seem like a small thing, but I bet it's actually something that may significantly help sway Ryu off of the west coast. Also, it would help with getting Korean Ryu fans to and from some of the games they may want to see in person. We also shouldn't completely neglect the little increase in marketing opportunities by having one of the few active South Korean players. I'm in for 3/72
  10. At the extremes...If we get 2018 Snell, then we win the trade almost no matter what If we get 2019 Snell, then the Rays win the trade, unless all the prospects included never really amount to anything. Snell will likely fall somewhere in the middle, so it’ll depend on what the prospects become.
  11. Pssst... nicksaviking thinks TB would laugh at that trade without Graterol. But he's a moderator, so he was just being nice.
  12. Everyone once in a while, when a player retires, you hear something like "That officially closes out the 1965 Bert Blyleven trade tree" Those are fun
  13. Re: "There's no chance Dobnak explodes into some new Strata" I guess it depends on what Strata you have him in currently. For some people him turning into a 4th starter is a new strata. I'm guessing you were talking about a true #1 or #2 starter, which I agree is extremely unlikely, but "no chance" ignores the history of a Randy Dobnak like player doing just that every few years. And with how you very effectively laid out how tough some of his pitches are to face, I think ending the article with a "no chance" closing statement does the rest of the article a disservice.
  14. The Reds seem like they could be considered in the same bucket of competitiveness as the Rockies and D-backs
  15. How dare you badmouth MVP-Vote-Getting Eddie Rosario like that?
  16. A name that might not be as sexy as some others mentioned, but could still be interesting.... What about Sonny Gray? He had a higher WAR in 2019 that anyone else mentioned in this thread (Darvish, Jon Gray, Sale, Ray, Snell, Price) 2/20 left on his contract, with a $12M team option for 2022. Edited to add: Last 3 months of the season.... 15 starts 93IP 20ER (1.94ERA) 114K (11 K/9)
  17. If it wasn't for the suspension I wouldn't have been surprised at all if he got a QO.
  18. Literally not a single person has slotted him in above 4th on the staff. We don’t like this deal because he solidifies the top of out rotation we like this deal because as your 4th/5th starter he’s a good combination of experience and upside. And the contract is super palatable. The only way this signing can be viewed negatively is if you project the assumption that this is our biggest pitching signing.
  19. You say “treading water” I say “keeping the best parts of a 101 win team with still plenty of money, time, and players available to make upgrades”
  20. From ESPN’s article: In 14 starts prior to the suspension, Pineda was 10-4 with a 2.96 ERA and 87 strikeouts in 82 innings.
  21. I wish the Pohlads would try to buy a title.
  22. I'm jealous of the Braves FO aggressiveness. Historically the Twins and Braves have had similar payrolls and currently I'd say the two teams mirror each other pretty well.
