  1. The beauty of having a bullpen full of gaping, obvious holes is that these reclamation projects see the Twins and having a ton of innings opportunity. Did Zoll invent “no-moneyball”
  2. It's really easy to look at the rotation and see how it could be a top 10 rotation. It's also not too hard to look at this lineup and envision a 60th percentile team outcome that's above MLB average. BUUUUUUUT This defense and this bullpen. Woof. You need to squint REALLY hard to see anything not in the bottom quarter of MLB. The only regular I feel like is above average is Buxton, and even HIS defense, I think we need to start recognizing, is approaching average. And the bullpen, there is ZERO path to averageness outside of 2-3 starters being converted to the bullpen and having good seasons.
  3. We're all just getting through the offseason, pal. If it doesn't add to the conversation that YOU want, then don't click on the very appropriately titled article link. I personally like that type of conversation. I like thinking about the reasons why it would make sense to do things that don't immediately seem to make sense. I like thinking outside the box. Nobody is predicting that it will happen. We're all here killing time until April.
  4. For the people that like the move but not the timing.... How many more bad moves (or non-moves) do you want Falvey to make before the "right time" comes along? Is this timing ideal? No. But whatever. Tom felt a change needed to be made, so he made it.
  5. The Vikings couldn't even let the Twins lead the local sports news for 2 hours. Kwesi fired
  6. The writing was on the wall when Falvey wasn't around for the initial Tom Pohlad presser. The Occam's Razor in my mind is that Tom Pohlad thought Falvey was doing a bad job on not only the business side, but also the baseball side, he didn't like how he talked for days without really saying anything, and there were a couple moves that once Tom settled in a little bit, he felt were pretty hard to forgive (the fire sale and probably Correa). So he fired him.
  7. I'm with the "optimists" feeling that over is the play, but if I was going to argue the other side... If the Twins were on track for 74 wins on August 1st, I believe there would be players traded away, which would push us towards the under. Said another way, if this team doesn't trade anyone away, "over" feels like a good play, but obviously projecting trades is difficult and will play a big part in the over/under.
  8. With the release of ESPN's top 100 prospect list today, we have at least 4 players eligible for PPI (Player Promotion Incentive) this season because they appear on at least 2 of the 3 "major" top 100 ranking lists (ESPN, BA, MLB.com) Jenkins Rodriguez Culpepper Prielipp Two players could become eligible if they appear on MLB.com's not-yet-published top 100. Tait Soto
  9. I'm trying to squint hard and find a way that a potential lockout could affect this option/buyout and I just can't see it. So, I'm officially with everyone else in that this is a complete and total 100% chance that the option is not picked up and it's pure silliness related to MLB's "file and trial" preference. They can be like "no. no. no. we worked out a multi-year deal. This is totally different that just coming to a one year agreement," and anyone with half a brain can see exactly what happened. And also, who cares? "Yeah, it's a 1-year deal. It's what we wanted to do. If you've got a problem with it you can pound sand, MLB."
  10. I usually expect one unexpected inclusion per year from Law. Didn't get one this year. His Twins rankings seem pretty in line with other outlets, but maybe just a touch lower on average.
  11. I could see a scenario where and guy of Joe Ryan's ability, paired with his injury history would be open to a huge payday that buys out a few years of free agency. I can also see, from the Twins perspective, not really wanting to be tied in to a big contract beyond 2029. I like the idea of 4 years, but as has been stated, the original post numbers are woefully small. Could Joe get 30M per year over like 6 years if he keeps doing what he's doing and stays healthy? Absolutely. But those are both unknowns. 2 years is a long time to avoid injuries as a pitcher. So, what would Joe accept? Would 4/80 get it done? Maybe not quite, but at 4/90 you might be offering him more than he's willing to refuse. Smooth out those numbers however you like, but that's essentially 10/20/30/30. Now, would the Twins do that? I suspect not. But that's probably in the ballpark of what it would take.
  12. I look forward to every new signing article, so the same 5 users can reiterate to all of us how certain they are that the Twins are going to suck in 2026.
  13. In general I agree with the idea that one more year of service time for most prospects is worth more than the long shot at the draft pick, but in this specific case, given Prielipp's age and injury history, I think it might be worth a shot.
  14. Trade Lopez and Jeffers to Boston for Duran and Justin Slaten (net minus 14M) Trade Larnach for whatever relief help you can get for him (net minus 4M) Sign Coulombe (1/4M) and Seranthony Dominguez (1/9M) (net plus 13M) Move Prielipp to the bullpen. Sign Nathaniel Lowe (1/11M) (net plus 11M) Overall payroll up ~$6M from where it’s at right now. C – Caratini 1B – Lowe 2B – Keaschall SS – Lee 3B – Lewis LF – Duran CF – Buxton RF – Wallner DH – Bell Bench – Martin, Clemens, Gray, Jackson Rotation – Ryan, Ober, SWR, Zebby, Bradley (Abel, Festa, Morris, Rojas as next men up) Bullpen – Dominguez, Sands, Topa, Prielipp, Orze, Coulombe, Funderburk, Guy from Larnach trade (Ohl, Adams, Raya, Klein as next men up)
  15. I think many of us consider the bullpen to be Prielipp's most likely long term landing spot, and given the lack of movement by the FO to retool the bullpen this offseason from outside the organization, it seems like the FO is assuming several open spots will be filled by players who have been starters. Prielipp seems like an obvious prime candidate for that and, hot off the presses, he is now a Baseball America top 100 prospect. That got me thinking about PPI (Prospect Promotion Incentive). He would need to also appear on ESPN or MLB's top 100 preseason list to become eligible, but given the visibility of the closer role, if Prielipp has a successful season as the Twins closer he would certainly garner some ROY consideration, whereas if he was "just" a setup man, that seems less likely. Do you think Front Offices take this sort of thing into consideration?
  16. Don't get me wrong, I think Culpepper will contribute to the Twins by mid season, but the orginaization can't assume that and I think we all just have forgotten that he's only played 59 games at AA. I think it might be more likely he starts the year at AA than AAA.
  17. Based on what? His limited time in the majors is roughly split between all 4 infield positions and his time in the minors he was predominantly a SS.
  18. I feel like people forgot that Keachall had TJ Surgery 18 months ago and before that he was playing CF regularly. Gabriel Gonzalez as a better overall defensive OF? Get real.
  19. I like Jeffers, but what teams are looking at their 2026 catching options and thinking “Jeffers would be a big upgrade over this” To someone’s earlier point, if a team who was looking at 2026 as a contending year felt they needed a better catcher they could’ve accomplished that by signing Caratini. Sure Jeffers is a bit better and only a one year commitment, but a) the difference between them in not THAT vast, and b) for most teams looking to compete in 2026, the extra year commitment at $7m is a big whatever, especially compared to the asset(s) that might be needed to acquire Jeffers from the Twins. So you need to find a team that wants to really compete in 2026, lacks good catching, is kind of pinching pennies, and has some trade assets they are willing to give up.
  20. Really interesting how many people in this thread feel like they know what the Twins 2026 payroll is going to be. a) the Twins haven’t said anything about it with any detail b) what possible incentive would they have to give payroll details? ”Yep. We’re going to be at $110M on the button.” They would lose what little amount of leverage they might feel like they have.
  21. ... and grandfather themselves in as much as possible. Can't really force the Dodgers to immediately get cap compliant if the contracts are already signed. I mean you COULD, but that seems unlikely
