  1. Looking forward to seeing what this lineup does. It may not be much but at least it is a mix of some new and young faces. Hopefully they don't make Harvey look like an Ace.
  2. Pineda has been very consistent when he has pitched - the one issue I have is that he has had a hard time completing a full season either due to injury or suspension. He is not getting any younger either. He would probably be a fairly valuable trade asset come deadline time as the acquiring team knows he only has to last a couple of months with them and he will give them a solid consistent performance. To me if we get a valuable offer we have to trade him. This assumes his forearm stiffness is nothing and goes away. I would not object to keep him if either he signed a team-friendly 2 yr contract at about the same level he is now and we do not get a valuable trade offer for him. Next year in the rotation we have Maeda, Berrios and maybe Dobnak plus bringing up a rookie or two and and/or signing another FA so I don't think re-signing or extending him squeezes anyone out. We will still need arms to let the prospects develop.
  3. We have a knack of making mediocre pitchers look like aces. Uggh
  4. Refsnyder is scratched and Astudillo is in for him in RF, with Garlick moving to CF and Kirilloff in LF thus qualifying this group as a strong candidate for worst outfield defense of the season. Hope for a lot of Strikeouts and groundouts with some pop-ups mixed in.
  5. Refreshing to see Garlicks at-bat. Took the pitch the other way to advance the Refsnyder to third base where he scored on the wild pitch. So often we have seen a strikeout or pop-up in that situation this year. Good base-running by Refsnyder as well.
  6. Nice to see Berrios with such a well-pitched game! Rogers wrapped up the 9th nicely as well. Now to slay the extra innings dragon again. Hopefully our offense can make contact with the ball.
  7. Given our track record on inherited runners scoring - this game appears to be over.
  8. Sano comes out of hibernation once every 10 days - other than that his plate appearances are a disaster. In fairness it is not just him - it is a team effort. I think we have seen enough of Shoemaker at this point as well - time to replace him in the rotation. Bullpen is the same all year - continually does not rise to the challenge. Even when they hold a lead it’s like walking on a tightrope.
  9. Rogers didn’t have any inherited runners to let score so he thought he would give up a couple of his own and then knuckle down
  10. An appropriate use of Garlick...
  11. Every so often Sano just like to single-handedly provide our offense that results in a win.
  12. Well, the Twins have decided to provide some more excitement
  13. Or that will do as well - nice contact there Sano!
  14. OK, Sano - just a soft single - make contact and go the other way
  15. If you want to get paid like an ace you better start pitching like an ace.
  16. I am particularly enjoying Refsnyder's surprise showing. Realize that is going against his track record, but he is taking quality at-bats and playing solid defense. Not meaning to throw Cave under the bus and I know he is out hurt but I would rather see Refsnyder as the backup outfielder over him since he hits right and we have a lot of left-hand bats in the OF.
  17. That was a pretty bad at bat by Cruz there. Swung at balls and watched strikes. Had an opportunity to advance the runner with that high outside strike but watched it go by.
  18. On the Good News front the game took under 2 hours - the pain is over quicker. Looks like they can't get out of there soon enough.
  19. Too much to ask for - Let's play two
  20. Something besides a strikeout here Larnach
  21. Guess they want to boost some of their others pitchers confidence.
  22. Why take Cobb out - he had retired 12 hitters in a row and had 57 pitches?
  23. I actually thought they were bringing in Duffey to hit Gosselin since he had 4 RBI's against us. Figured he is our new designated plunker.
  24. Honestly have some pride in your performance - this is an embarrassing display yet again. Thorpe should have finished this out - he was at 63 pitches.
