  1. Sir, you need to drink something stronger if you are a Twins fan
  2. Nice catch by Larnach - and he did not get hurt
  3. Put Carew in the lineup for Game #2 - bet he would still get a couple of hits.
  4. With 3 unearned runs today I am thinking we are now leading the lead in Unearned runs allowed - from eyeballing the ytd stats - which is something. Can't overcome errors or maybe we are just bad so those errors hurt more.
  5. Not sure if I have ever seen a pitch in the middle of the strike zone called a ball
  6. Another Fun fact - Thorpe started the first game against LA back in April - so he is going back-to-back against the same opponent in the same stadium.
  7. Odds on Twins scoring a run with runners on 1st and 3rd and no outs? 5%?
  8. I am trying to come up with some things that could make it much worse but it is hard and I don't want to put them down in print to further jinx them. Good news on the first inning we got a hit every other at-bat! And it ended quick! All Twins game the rest of this season should be 7 innings - Baseball Lite. Do fans get 20%+ back on the tickets? Joking aside something does seem wrong going with 7 inning games this year.
  9. Let's hope this double-header goes better than the others have this season. I think last one we did not score a run in either game. An interesting trip - fly out to the coast and play two games (granted not 2 full 9-inning games) and fly back probably all within about 24 hours. Doesn't seem like a good recipe for success but can it really get much worse?
  10. Well, not the way to continue the momentum from yesterday's win. Bullpen did a very nice job today, Cruz as well.
  11. Good Job Polanco - you didn't swing at Ball 4 like last time
  12. Wake-up Offense and answer that run - someone besides Cruz do something productive.
  13. How can you walk that bum? Give me a break
  14. At this point I think I would rather see some Refsnyder rather than Garlick. I think Refsnyder plays a better defense as well. Garlick always seems very slow to get to the ball.
  15. Nice comeback win - so great to finally beat the White Sox!! Good to see Sano hit and the bullpen deliver.
  16. We can’t catch the ball! How frustrating
  17. I have seen them play enough bad baseball this year to attribute very little if any of their futility to bad luck. Losing has been a team effort - one part of the team will always fail at a key moment - if it is not the Starting Pitching, then the Bullpen blows a lead, if the bullpen pitches well, then the defense caves in, if not that then the offense stagnates. Sometimes everything falters. Also consistently not delivering with men in scoring position - the offense has been disjointed. The team has been disjointed. Almost wonder if the playoff futility has impacted them mentally. Do they need a mental coach or better coaching? What is up with the bullpen allowing inherited runners to score at a record pace - bad pitching or bad preparation. I can't attribute that to bad luck at this point because the bullpen has been consistently awful. Maybe bad luck that the every pitcher in the bullpen has collapsed at various points - there has not been a constant reliable arm to calm the storm. Astudillo hits well except when it is a pressure situation - then we can count on a pop-up, double-play or one of his rare strikeouts. Bad luck or can't rise up to the moment or just not good enough? Honestly Refsnyder has come up and hit and hit with men in scoring position - I know that won't last, but at least it is refreshing to see.
  18. This will certainly add some interest to the game.
  19. Very hard to watch this. Yet Another inherited base runner scores. I would call mercy on this game - maybe this season
  20. Hmm,.. with the way both teams are playing and how Chicago kills lefties I am not coming into this game with a lot of optimism, but on any given day anything can happen. We can hope for the best! I am expecting a boycott at today's game - no, not from how the Twins are playing but rather on the presumptive surname of the White Sox Right-fielder.
  21. One thought I had regarding the 6th inning decision - there were runners on 2nd and 3rd and one out. Vaughn was up and Collins was on deck. I was thinking if we should have walked Vaughn to pitch to Collins who is not as good a hitter. Would also set up the force at any base or double-play but then a walk forces in a run and Pineda just walked 2 people and Robles is know to give up a walk. Collins might have been pinch-hit for as well but Collins seemed to be struggling so I thought that could have been another choice.
  22. I have noticed that as well this year - that other teams seem to have more stable lineups. It seems the Twins are attempting some analytic lineup model. Even in past playoff games they may have trotted out a lineup that was different that what was used in the regular season. I don't know if there might not be greater value in lineup consistency in terms of offensive rhythm and production - getting big inning rallies. As you mentioned there have been injuries and positive covid tests this year which lead to more changes but guys seem to be moved up and down in the order a good bit more than other teams.
  23. Best thing about this losing this day game is that we don't have to watch them lose tonight. Get it over with and enjoy the evening.
