  1. He signed late. He had an ailment that held him out even longer. He can't even put the bat on the ball 46% of the time right now. He'll probably be fine later, but that isn't who I would choose to start and bat 5th on Thursday.
  2. Gonzalez 0-3 with 3 Ks today ... Astudillo at the ready
  3. Astudillo should start at 3B and catch once a week. Work Gonzalez in when La Tortuga takes an off day after catching and then let him spell Schoop once a week until he's warmed up. If Austin doesn't make the team, then Garver can give Cron a breather at first once a week. Don't just play Marwin because he's making $10.5 mill. Free La Tortuga!
  4. Will Animales be open at Able during the event?
  5. Maybe it's a tree killing deterrent .... Although they still print ballpark passes (at least at Target field), so the trees aren't out of the woods yet.
  6. But getting them is just a silver lining to something bad happening .... I don't look forward to reading them, but I enjoy reading them when they're written.
  7. I saw this featured on the Fangraphs landing page. Quite the read.
  8. +1 million (I'm sure others just want to tax the #$%# out of him)
  9. Just got my opener tickets today, so I hope the warming trend continues.
  10. Parker had a bad day, but his overall spring line looks pretty good sans ERA. Addison Reed should be shutdown. Take the loss and give one of these guys like Harper or Morin a shot.
  11. Austin has just 400 career PAs and a 100 OP+ to go with it. Not many hit the ball harder. I sure hope he can get a longer look.
  12. Nice write up ... Will have to keep an eye on Colina this year .... How was his command and control? He got the walks a bit high for awhile last season, but it seems that he's hard to hit.
  13. I guess they are doing a subscription service this year every month. You just have to decide by the 24th of each month if you want the next month. I like it. $49 a month to stand in the Two Gingers Bar and watch the Twins. No Hom Opener and No Mauer Day on 6/15, so 79 games for $294. https://www.mlb.com/twins/tickets/specials/twins-pass
  14. How about that Brian Navaretto?
  15. So I'm into day 6 of doing this, and I have to say I think it's the way to go. I heard from others about the Russell Westbrook vs. Jazz fan story, and then my super conservative co-worker comes in and talks trash about Ilian Omar on a daily basis. That's it though. I've turned off all notifications from any app that even thinks about sending political news. I think everyone should try this. 2019 is looking up!!
  16. I like Kepler up there. Hopefully a better BABIP can get his OBP up above .350 this season. It would also be good for him to get his PPA over 4, since the leadoff guy should be giving the rest of the lineup a chance to look at more pitches.
  17. Are the Twins going to have any type of Spring Ballpark Pass this season?
  18. Who does Tyler Austin hit 40 HRs for this year? 1) Gardy 2) Yost 3) Renteria
  19. It could, but the key to these types of overhauls is getting buy in from the players. It will be easier with the younger players and the players that start in a system like this from day one. Perhaps this is another reason that the FO is avoiding much commitment in the FA world. The older guys are more likely to push back on someone telling them that "some dumb computer should be tellin' them the way to throw a ball".
  20. Expectations for Buxton and Sano are close to zero for me. I think the FO extended the correct players so far (just hope they are still talking to Berrios). With that said, I agree with Nick. A 701 OPS season from Buxton makes him a quality CF option. Even at a 650 OPS, you have to play him every day and bat him 9th. His defense and disruption ability on the basepaths make up the difference. If it gets worse than that, he probably becomes a LHP platoon option and late inning defensive replacement. I'm definitely not going to set myself up for more disappointment with these two. Lower the bar and you'll have a good time.
  21. Here we go .... Toot, toot!!! All aboard the guilt train! Same tactics the preachers used when I was kid ... Instead of pushing the guilt of non-existent original sin, it's now non-existent white privilege. Have fun everyone! No point in taking part in this conversation anymore.
  22. Sounds like clocking out on consuming news (well except for baseball news and concert tour date news) is probably the way to go. I hear it's actually really good for the psyche. I wonder if my curiosity can be held in check though.
  23. Not offended. I can understand that viewpoint. However, I do believe that the second generation is attempting. My daughter (probably the most color blind, least prejudice person on the planet) has befriended several Somali girls at school. They want to be like everyone else. However, I think the distrust goes both ways, so it's going to take more time. My problem is when I hear people down at Riverside interviewed saying that they think sharia law is better than what we have here. It's nonsense. I mean rule under those circumstances is exactly why people leave in the first place.
  24. Yes, but this is based on the otherness of ideology which I think takes a lot longer than 5 years (which I believe is the standard waiting period) to fully affect. Embracing "When in Rome" takes longer, IMO. Some ideologies like sharia law deserve to be insulted and belittled.
