  1. They also have to figure out in advance what to do when the producers decide that they have had enough of paying for other people to not produce and either leave the system or simply stop producing themselves.
  2. Thanks, Nick. Are Trey Cabbage, Travis Blankenhorn and Andrew Bechtold pretty much not being counted on long term in the pipeline at this position? That's a lot of recent misses there at 3B, if that is the case. I only ask since Charles Mack is listed third and put up a .588 OPS in the GCL (albeit as a freshly drafted 18 yo).
  3. I think the Twins have scouts down in Caracas with some Disney producers watching the spin rates on Molotov cocktails. A reboot or sequel to Million Dollar Arm incoming.
  4. Does this really qualify as breaking news? Granite had become an afterthought. He was redundant as another LH outfielder behind Rosario, Kepler, Cave, and Wade. I would put this in the category of "Other Minor League Notes".
  5. It's actually one of my favorites. I think you missed what I was trying to do there.
  6. Fair explanation ... I'm not totally sold that their isn't more leeway given on the left side, but I guess there are three violations there.
  7. I would prefer not to read that.
  8. Here is verbatim what I posted in response to Speaker Pelosi being supported/congratulated for her toughness against Trump during the shutdown and after Trump eventually caved: "Now she just needs to give Occasional Cortex a daily spanking and put her in the basement on the sand granule sorting committee with Milton Wadams for the next two years."
  9. Arraez seems to be getting pretty much ignored here. Whether his amazing hit tool can be the thunder that pushes Gordon to realize his potential or allows him to surpass Gordon as at least the temporary heir, I think he should at least be recognized as more than just a 40-man addition. Otherwise, this yet another great article in this series.
  10. "POTUS Donald Trump" thread page 11, #210. There are several posts on that page that I would probably label disrespectful in a vacuum. Honestly, I don't have a problem with the post itself. It's actually good satire. Comedians have been doing this stuff for a long time, and people in that camp are going to reuse it. I just don't think there should be any protected class of politicians. If you can make fun of one them, you can make fun of them all.
  11. Now just need Kimbrel to go to the Twins or NL and good offseason. I'd probably give the Yankees the #1 spot as far as AL teams that bettered themselves the most, but the Twins are probably #2. Damn Yankees.
  12. Are the Twins done with extensions this spring? I was hoping for a Berrios deal, especially with framework available from the Nola and Severino deals. Everything has been quiet though. Is Berrios just going to wait and attempt to put up more of a Nola or Severino-esque season before inking?
  13. This is going to be a complicated discussion, because I feel like we both have different ideas about how big a role the federal government should play in our lives. The media attempts to make us feel like the federal government should be at the forefront of all our minds at all times. Before I could go much further on who should pay for what, I'd have to be convinced that "the what" isn't going to be a massive waste and that programs weren't going to be abused. As far as that video (and others I've seen), she does seem prepared in the chamber. I don't like her tactic of forming a statement and then trying to get a subject expert to agree with her, but I think that's probably politics 101. I don't have a problem with her ideals at the base, but she doesn't seem to know or care how to get there without treading into a model of the country that I would never agree with. When she's not prepared in the chamber, I think she has this aura of arrogant naivety that is just laughable.
  14. Since you asked, I'm most in favor of use taxes. It goes right back to infrastructure. I don't agree with all of Walz' plan, but I actually don't have any problem with his gas tax hike. I like to drive and would prefer that it be on well-kept roads and bridges. I'm not sure a use tax could be applied to something like medical care unless some very careful and unbiased forethought was put into deciding what was a nice-to-have (solo recovery room?). Estate tax or death tax is a tough one for me. I understand where you are coming from, but I really think the person who earned it should decide or at minimum have major input. Obviously, more Bill Gates and Warren Buffets would be better for the world than Donald Trumps and Rupert Murdochs. That's a start.
  15. I believe that if you work and earn something you get the privilege of keeping it or choosing who gets it. It isn't up to some supposed more qualified entity to decide that for you. With that said, it is in everyone's best interest to have a central entity to provide infrastructure. I have no problem paying taxes for that. That includes fixing the complicated healthcare system, but it doesn't need to be free.
  16. Please explain why a post with a satirical poem about President Trump called Trumpty Dumpty is allowed to exist in the Sports Bar, but referring to Congressman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as Occasional Cortex results in a deleted post and warning points. Both posts are poking fun at politicians, but only one is allowed.
  17. Just curious did you get warning points for doing that? It would speak to the leanings of some moderators if you didn't.
  18. I'm not going down the birth lottery hole .... This is always a foul that the have-nots cry.
  19. So slightly adding to the number of "likes" that are often found in statements by this person is not OK, but you click "Like This" on a satirical post called "Trumpty Dumpty". Which rude tripe is allowed and which isn't? Oh wait, it's only the rude tripe that you agree with.
  20. They also have Torreyes available for this situation.
  21. You're missing the point. Of course the budget isn't infinite, but she's capping at almost half the going rate so that the people on the low end get her version of livable after having done nothing to earn it. She isn't going to have the best people at the top, because they will all leave. Sure she might retain a bleeding heart here and there, but the pool is going to be much smaller for her.
  22. I don't need unlimited wealth either to be happy, but I sure as hell don't need the government telling me what the limit is.
  23. Not handing someone $50k at their first job doesn't take away any of those things ... Providing infrastructure is for the people ... Just remember, it's the pursuit of happiness, not just happiness ... Capping income does encroach on the pursuit
  24. Nobody deserves anything. It's up to them to earn it. Capping the high end where people who have actually earned value tend to be, so that the new person with no experience and only hope of earning value can immediately realize a higher quality of life is just promoting entitlement. Live in an efficiency, eat your ramen, do your job well, and you can be the person interviewing for the $150k chief job in a few years. The government is here to provide infrastructure not take care of people.
  25. With Gonzalez, Torreyes and even Schoop available depending on the circumstances, I hope Tyler Austin is also battling Adrianza for a 25 man spot. I hope he gets as long a look as possible, because the man has plus, plus power. It would be almost a no-brainer for Miami, Detroit or KC to pick him up and play him every day, so he isn't sneaking through, IMO.
