  1. I sure hope however ventured this idea didn't drive home. It is a holiday and the cops are everywhere. OTOH, maybe this guy should be ticketed.
  2. Actually I rather like this move as COtwin states. He needed a change of scenery so to speak and hopefully this will work. I still have given up on his ability to start, he's just in a giant funk right now. Also I have to chuckle at those that are so eager to evaluate the Span trade as a failure. I'll give you it doesn't look good today but.... It's like failing the first of many tests in a class but the instructor tells you that you fail the course. The only way to truly evaluate a trade is toward the end of their careers. Even Meyers stays in the pen but becomes another Trevor Hoffman, would that be a failure? I'd rather focus on the here and now than to worry about yesterday, of which I have zero control anymore.
  3. Obviously the Twins think a lot of Max to put him on the 40 man roster last year. My question for Seth or anyone is: how will the Twins handle him the next 2 yrs? There seems to be a lot of talent in the OF here or close. Is Kepler worth hanging onto or packaging for other parts? BTW, I'd love to keep him.
  4. Three innings per would cause Blyleven to have an on-air meltdown.
  5. Two points. First on an earlier post, I'd forgot about the day off today, after reconsidering I'm so what baffled as to the reason for the Stauffer move with Bernier going down. Second, and maybe this is pure hope, but I wonder if the next three to four weeks is an audition for Stauffer, and for that matter Duesing. TR has eaten some salary before, IIRC.. I hope this is the plan - do what you were hired for or leave the building.
  6. I wonder if part of this move has to do with the use of all the pen last nite?
  7. His success comes from throwing BBs from a Daisy.
  8. It's interesting that so far there hasn't been that one individual that has carried this team. It's been a team effort. I'm not sure if there is anyone that has been an all-star player, outside of Perkins and Boyer. I have to give Molitor much credit for that. I like the way he doesn't overthink the game and allows the players to play. Also, how he and Allen handle the pitching staff.
  9. I remember when there was considerable doubt the Plouffe would amount to anything. Sometimes we forget that SS are generally the best athlete below pro-ball. Anyway I'm thrilled to death with his progress and sometimes think of him as a Gaetti (sp?) or Koskie. I do believe his maturity has helped greatly. As far as I'm concerned the only way he is removed from that position is if Sano forces it. Until then I'd stay with Plouffe.
  10. This is likely the same discussion the FO is having right now, but with all the inside information. I'm sure they evaluate, at least weekly, players performance and how they can improve the Twins and the player. That said, IMO, #2 is the best for now, with a short leash on May. There is nothing wrong with sending him back to work on any weaknesses under less pressure situation. Its done all the time and certainly should help his long term development, if there iare areas to improve. Likely all this will sort out in the wash of time.
  11. I'm not into predictions but I felt that this would not be a 90 loss season with a chance of .500 season. I was hoping was improved play and getting our young talents feet wet. So far so good. Too early still to get too excited because their are some holes, but growth will make me happy. Still think we are in the midst of a big turn-around.
  12. FWIW I've not had one problem with ads on my iPad 2. Knock on wood. But I'd be just as annoyed as everyone else.
  13. First, excellent article. Also some good comments with which I agree. Seems like there is a cautious, but hopeful, outlook by many, such as: Exactly. I especially agree with last half of that statement. This very well looks like the beginning of the new Twins. Aren't there yet, but I am seeing progress in the right direction. The first week several of us called for patience. We have since been rewarded with good baseball and excellent results. I am hoping that that we continue to see good baseball as this team transitions into the team that many of us are eagerly awaiting.
  14. It's really hard to know what is the psychic of someone like Meyer, but I do agree that he should get a test at the MLB level. It may not be boredom but it very well could be the need for a new challenge. Often people with good talent need the challenge to find that talent.
  15. Agreeeeeeee!!! Brock, you nailed the difference from this year and the past losing seasons, there IS talent on this team. And more in the wings. Coming into this year I felt 2015 would be the turning point where the talent starts to show up. It's nice to have good choices available when needed on the roster. Mid-summer we should see a different club, if the youngsters keep pushing the issue.
  16. Also to be considered is setting up next year. IF I were the GM and Buxton looked ready to compete at the MLB level, giving him some good experience prior to Sep would/should help him and the team in2016. I have to believe that is part of the equation. .
  17. The roster spot is the easy part. Likely the one he's replacing. The difficult part will be knowing when he's ready for MLB baseball. My heart wants him up quickly - my head says when he's ready to succeed. Still, I believe we'll see him before Sep.
  18. . 4 happy faces for this one John
  19. All I can say is that I'm enjoying the fact that the "team" is playing good ball.
  20. Thanks all for the corrections.
  21. Kwak I agree, with one caveat, Vargas is should be on a short lease. If his ABs don't improve in a week I'd send him to AAA and bring up Pinto. But it is important to let them try to adjust and correct their problems. For guys like Vargas, it's the long term that's important and they should be managed accordingly.
  22. From what I read Ventura has been involved in 3of these and he seems to have a low boiling point. IMO it should stop. It is gotten to be a bit ridiculous. The manager is either promoting this or has lost control of his players. Theirs a difference playing with a chip on your shoulder and shoving it ones face waiting for it to be knocked off. Personally, I can do without the drama in baseball.
  23. Intriguing. Is he right or left handed? The twins had another 7-footer, can't remember his name but was from Australia. Believe he was traded to Oakland. Thanks for your comments and bringing attention to a local boy.
