  1. That is true, but I always root for those guys. Most of the time it's the intangibles for these players to achieve the ML. Trey could very well have those. Here's hoping. I also want to thank you for your articles and insight on players like Trey. I really enjoy coming here to read the contributions of all the posters on the different players. It's like we are in a "fantasy FO" reviewing all the players. It's fun!
  2. The reason Hicks needs to prove himself IS because he has a future here, the other two don't. It's important to get him straightened around, if he can be. Why put him in the same situation as before when he failed, twice. Now if he can't master AAA then we know. I'm sure that by Jun or July he either is here or likely on his way out.
  3. The article Tate's that the young guys out- pitched the others and thus made the team. The rest of the construction seems fairly similar, except we have a closer.
  4. I'm wondering if Gibson isn't the one for a short stint in AAA?
  5. Very interesting family. What's your opinion of Trey's upside? Sounds like a future coach after playing days stop.
  6. Is this the same Mike that wants the young kids up and playing?
  7. Seth, that's exactly what I was thinking as I read this great story. Cam is a guy that we can forget about the age. Here's hoping for his success. It will be fun to follow him.
  8. While we all would like to push Father Time for Buxton's arrival, most are likely to say not yet and so do I. Returning from a year away from most anything sets one back. I hope he can push the envelope, but I'm totally ok waiting. Would like to see him at least in Sep to give him a start for 2016.
  9. Thanks, Seth for another interesting article. Looking forward to the rest.
  10. Yes for good baseball!
  11. I thought the signing of Nolasco and Santana were reasonable moves. However I totally agree, Nick and Mike, that the length seems baffling. One was workable, two constipated.
  12. I think the FO needs to stay the course for a while longer, no matter how awful that might be. We need to see if some can change their direction. And we need to see if the replacements can be at least replacements to be called up. That will take a few more games than just 7. I also believe that Ryan should be willing to cut bait, starting with the bullpen because there good options available there. Losing game 2 at Chicago was really disheartening. I also think that shuffling some of the younger sister down to straighten them out should be done. And finally, it is absolutely imperative that Molitor eliminate the horrible play we've witnessed so far. For example, Santana's boot against KC was inexcusable and led to a huge inning. There many other examples from the whole team. I can tolerate a lot more if they are playing good baseball. Let's see what a couple more weeks brings us. No improvement and I think changes begin or should, at least the obvious ones.
  13. Ditto Rosterman. This season has just started and the mutiny is in full swing. It seems like this ship ran aground before it even pulled away from the pier. The news of Santana and shortly after of Nolasco certainly did not bring a boost to the confidence of this team. Plus they hit two hot teams in the first week. Not an excuse just an honest observation. As I've stated in another post we need to have a little patience here. I do agree, have to believe, that the FO is going through all the scenarios to right the ship. It seems just a bit too simple to off load some of these players and then replace them with those that so far are just mostly promise. Time is one of the most difficult things in life to master. When is it time to change or how long do we wait? It's a difficult balance and different for everyone. I would expect that by the end of April, just 2 more weeks, there will be some changes IF things aren't starting to straighten out by that time. But my guess is that many here will be disappointed because those changes won't be the "right" ones.
  14. We are one week into the season and already we're worried about Buxton, and every one else. Come on, let's give it some time. Buxton lost a whole year, as did Sano. These people are not robots and we need to be a bit more patient before we call 911.
  15. Good grief! It's over. I can't take anymore. Send in the clowns!
  16. I agree, Mike. A reasonable discussion, which ever side of neutral is promoted, usually is a good read. What gets old is the same arguments that are offered up for every situation or position. Things are seldom black and white and discussing the shades of grey seems good for the mind.
  17. Jay, after reading some of the articles yesterday, I almost posted the same sentiments. I really don't mind reading about the criticism by other posters, per se. What troubles me most is the redundacy of the same, tired, old arguments for most issues of concern or moves that are made as of being the result of an incompetent FO; as if we know all the details. I have solved that by putting the negativity nellies on my blocked list of reading and it has made it easier to navigate through some excellent discussion, both pro and con. After my bout with depression I learned to avoid negative people to avoid the pit of despair and to enhance the pleasure of life, even to the point of leaving a job that I really enjoyed.
  18. It's almost funny how so many are getting worked up about the opening day roster. Like it or not, as Nelson stated in his article, there were very good reasons why this roster came about. And reading the comments it is quite obvious those just doesn't like the FO and the decisions or course they have made. But UNTIL that changes expect to see a similar process. BTW, I learned many years ago with Vikings, that life is much, much more than this game. So i gave them up, but still am a fan of the Twins, even in the bad years. My blood pressure is now completely normal. So let's relax a bit and let the season start.
  19. This roster is not all that surprising, IMO. It is also an improvement over LY opening day roster. Yes, CF and the pen have issues, but there are options almost ready to take over. There are many reasons why one is selected and others are not. We also don't know all the info on the individual players to say this one or that one should make it. Herrmann place is a result of Pinto's injury. CF is waiting for a bit more seasoning form players that had short or no seasons last year. For those who think several of the prospect should start the season with Twins should realize that very few rookies make it out of spring traing on most clubs. Exceptions are the truly top end prospects, positions of extreme weakness (see Hicks) or possibly in the pen. It's not the April roster that I am interested in, it's the May, Jun, and Jul roster.
  20. I'm optimistic also, for a much better season and to verify the Twins are turning the corner. Yes there are some holes, like the outfield especially CF, but the stopgaps in place have better alternatives on the way. I believe several of those get their chance this year. A personal observation. It seems there is plenty of optimism here. Some view this year as the beginning of change while others seem to hold theirs in the coming talent. The latter do however have a large level of pessimism that will take too long. I am still somewhat patient. We shall see next fall.
  21. That could happen but someone will need to be removed from the roster.
  22. I totally agree, but the opening day roster is a different story IMO, not that I'll agree with it.
  23. I think Buxton and Sano are in that 90-100% range. IF the Twins are setting up for 2016 and beyond you have to get your studs' feet wet this year. 2016 then becomes a good year of learning and improving for both after they've had an introduction to the Big Leagues TY. Also, the FO has hinted that they'd be up this year.
  24. As of now, I think, Arcia comes north and Rosario starts in AAA. However, Rosario will replace Arcia should Ozzie falter and that could happen by May. As much as they like Rosario, it's hard to imagine them putting him on the opening day roster for his MLB debut, especially considering his AA performance LY. CF is a mess and I havent a clue how this one will be cleaned up. No matter what happens there is going to be much angst about to start the season. My gut tells me that Schafer gets the nod, hicks to AAA, and Herrmann/Nunez/Escobar as the fourth OF. After 6-8 weeks. Things will likely change.
  25. As always, great analysis, Parker. I'm ok with a solid (plus) glove at second, especially with the offense provided. Hopefully he can cut the miscues and then maybe the metrics and eye test and can find commonality.
