  1. I was hopeful early that Ober had made some "corrections" as I saw a couple of 92 mph fastballs rather than the normal 90 for most of the season. But it was few and far between. Looks like guys have just decided that he can't throw a fastball by them and at some point he's going to hang one during the AB and it will get crushed. On another note, can Larnach just spend the offseason working on learning to play first base? Is that too illogical???? Left handed hitter. Slow as ****, but seems to be able to catch everything thrown right at him????
  2. His arm can definitely adjust to long outings....he threw over 110 pitches in the no hitter.... Whether it can stay healthy long-term is the million dollar question.....
  3. If you didn't watch the no-hitter, you should. The stuff is amazing. He sat 94-98 mph the entire game, including 97 on the last pitch (it was like pitch #115ish). He's got a drop dead overhand tight curveball. Slider and change as well. He hasn't thrown a ton of innings/pitches like a lot of college pitchers. My concern is he missed 2 months of this season with a shoulder impingement. That's obviously alarming.
  4. I know it wouldn't have mattered but Rocco's use or lack of use of the steal is frustrating. Buxton gets on first earlier in the game and never attempts to run. In fact, he had about a one step lead. Brings in Keirsey to run in the 8th with Lee hitting. Never attempts to run in the 10 pitch AB until it's a 3-2 count and the catcher knows he's running. He's thrown out. 9th inning, Bader walks. Pagan might have the slowest delivery in the history of baseball. Never moves.
  5. Just sucks….Royce was just starting to get his swing back….just another setback in a long list of setbacks.
  6. FFS…..how is he supposed to do that? Bunt with the bases loaded??? Steal a freaking base with the bases loaded? Oh ****….i bet he forgot to give the signal to get a hit or at least a sacrifice fly!!!! BLAME ROCCO!! He needs to manufacture more runs with the bases loaded and. no outs. SMH
  7. The chart is interesting but has absolutely no bearing on Zebby. For most on that list, it's not even comparing apples to apples???? All shoulder strains on the same chart? Zebby's is surely different than Joe Ryan's last year. What's the history of arm issues with the others on the list (see Brock Stewart). This is Zebby's 1st trip to the IL and his first injury of any kind. I, for one, will try to be optimistic based on that.
  8. How???? Not a Rocco apologist at all, but you got six innings from your starter, and you turn over the game to rested Varland, Jax and Duran. What should he have done?
  9. Crazy watching these college World Series games and seeing guys that are supposed to be 1st round picks (Arnold at FSU and Coastal guy today) throwing 100+ pitches and some 120+ is bizarre. IMO—-if gonna tear your UCL or rotator cuff, it’s gonna happen weather you throw 100 pitches or 80 pitches in a start. SMH
  10. I think we should trade Duran…we have so many big time relievers. SMH
  11. The strike zone for both teams is not the same. Just sayin’
  12. So let’s see if I got this straight: 1. Gausman yells at the umpire on pictures that are clearly balls. Doesn’t usually help the pitcher 2. Toronto manager comes out and it’s clearly arguing with the ump about balls and strikes… Isn’t that an automatic ejection? 3. Gausman hits France, walks Royce and when Clemens is up he gives them a first pitch fastball 10 inches off the outside of the plate for a first strike? Changed that entire at bat. Combined with last night effort, the umps behind the plate are screwing us.
  13. Topic on TD about trade deadline moves and the #1 and #2 moves suggested were 1B and 3B.....the moves the Twins need to make is to find bullpen arms to replace Alcala and Funderburk.......
  14. Who is more un-usable-----Alcala or Funderburk?????
  15. C'mon man.....Festa came into the game with a sub 2 ERA....give him a break.
  16. NOOOOOOOO You search years for a guy that has the stuff and the cajones to close games. The Twins have one and you want to trade him away. Need I remind people of how Grifiin Jax has performed in the closer role? I am so pleased that Rocco has seemingly learned his lesson trying to filp/flop Duran and Jax based on matchups. Duran is the CLOSER. PERIOD. Also, there is absolutely no indication that Louie is ready to close games. A month of good performance does not mean he is ready for that...... Finally, I've made this point in the past and have plenty who disagree with it, but there is a major difference between pitching in the 7th and 8th inning compared to trying to close a game in the 9th. Duran can do it. Let him do it. Pay the man when it's time to pay him.
  17. Leadoff guy and Rooker hit weak ground balls directly at the shortstop and we are in some kind of ridiculous shift. Seems like a regular problem..........
  18. To me, if the challenge system is put in play, you get to keep your challenge as long as your right. If the ump gets 12 pitches wrong, and you successfully challenge each one, good for you.
  19. Are you blind???? There's a little box on TV which represents the strike zone....when the ball touches the line, it's a strike. It was strike 3.
  20. Three blown strike calls by the home plate ump in the inning.....including a missed strike 3 call. Festa should have been out of that inning....
  21. I don't know when the picture of Gonzalez at the front of the article was taken, but he doesn't look obviously out of shape. Maybe it's gotten worse? He's not a physical specimen by any means, but neither was Kirby, Arraez, etc etc.....sometimes the guys that are physical specimens (see Buxton, Royce, etc) are the guys who spend tons of time on the DL with muscle pulls/strains, etc.....
  22. Or just get healthy....... Buxton, Wallner and Keaschel are top 5 in the lineup...most teams can't lose 3/9 of the starting lineup and still expect to put up big numbers. And Bader being hurt doesn't help either. Wallner is healthy enough to be crushing in rainy chill AAA games....why isn't he on this road trip to Florida?
  23. I've never seen a team called for so many balks.........
