  1. That's what spring training is for....Hope. Whether it's Larnach or your 2026 favorite.
  2. I feel like it's a good use of a 40-man spot. Sorry to see Keirsey get DFA'd But the OF depth made it likely no matter who was added. Would have preferd a trade for Susac from the A's
  3. Good. None tendering Larnach is like hoping someone who hasn't produced yet will. The FO may be selling hope but I'll take a floor over hope on this team.
  4. MLIB contracts with SP invites. I'd signed all three by this morning. MLB contract. I really like Lowe. If he'd be interested in a 2- or 3-year contract say in the 6-8 mil range (per year) with bonuses for things like all-star, gold glove and so on. Still should be cheap enough to be traded if it doesn't work out well. Moreta I'd think there's plenty of room in the pen for a guy like him. Foley not so much. I'd need to hear what our new hitting coach from Detroit had to say. Probably pass
  5. With out anything to go on from the FO or ownership it's kinda hard to say core or out the door. If you're looking at max value, you trade Jeffer and Ryan this winter. Also, Buck if he wants out after those moves. I think Pablo will have as much or more value at the trade deadline. Same for Ober. Keaschall IMO doesn't belong on this list. It's just way too early for him to be considered. Could be our next Polanco or our next Miranda. Another season then he may belong on the list.
  6. Rutschman for Ober? OK...Then flip him to the Phillies/Rangers/(add the team you think) for prospects that line up better for 2027 and beyond. So really, I'd say pass.
  7. Fair enough. I see him as their version of Larnach. League average offence with not great defense. At 2.5x the salary and less control. Except we could use a 1b and another RH bat.
  8. If the goal is to have a shot at the division. Run it back and add a few middle of the road free agents. If the goal is to hang a flag a target field, I don't see it happening, in today's game, without doubling payroll or making bold moves. I lean towards the cash in the chips you have and bloat the farm with high upside prosects 1-3 years away.
  9. Supposedly they we're looking to move him at the deadline and not unlike Castellanos moving his salary would free up money for greater needs. So more a salary dump with a league average OF/DH coming back. They have room for Larnach in their OF. Gasper would be more of a AAA/3rd catcher type thing maybe switch with Julien. I don't expect him to be on the 26 man for them.
  10. Well, I'll go with a we're trying to win games plan for now. With a few trades. Trade 1. Jeffer to the Padres for Adrian Morejon and another A ball player or two. Trade 2. Larnach and Gasper to Phillies for Alec Bohm and an A ball player. Trade 3. Pablo Lopez to the Cubs for Miguel Amaya and Javier Assad. Most the freed up $ I spend in the BP on short term deals. I know the FO doesn't spend there. BUT, they've never had a BP like the one at the end of the 2025 season. Multiyear deals for Willie and Bader. Give me another 20 mil to payroll and I'm replacing Clemens with Kyle Schwarber as my DH. Not exciting but I think this team could be in the mix for the division. If it goes badly lots of BP arms to trade at the deadline and a few position players who could go to make room for the AAA guys. C: Miguel Amaya ($0.80M) 1B: Alec Bohm ($10.25M) 2B: Luke Keaschall ($0.80M) 3B: Royce Lewis ($3.00M) SS: Brooks Lee ($0.80M) LF: Harrison Bader ($13.00M) CF: Byron Buxton ($15.00M) RF: Matt Wallner ($0.80M) DH: Cody Clemens ($1.10M) 4th OF: Alan Roden ($0.80M) Utility: Austin Martin ($0.80M) Utility: Willie Castro ($7.00M) Backup C: Jhonny Pereda ($0.80M) POS: Add Dead Money Here ($0.00M) SP1: Joe Ryan ($5.80M) SP2: Baily Ober ($4.60M) SP3: Simeon Woods Richardson ($0.80M) SP4: Zebby Matthews ($0.80M) SP5: Mick Adel/ Taj Bradly ($0.80M) RP: Justin Topa ($2.00M) RP: Kody Funderburk ($0.80M) RP: Cole Sands ($1.30M) RP: Pierson Ohl ($0.80M) RP: Ryan Helsley ($12.00M) RP: Pete Fairbanks ($9.00M) RP: Adrian Morejon ($5.25M) RP: Javier Assad ($0.80M) POS: Add Dead Money Here ($0.00M) Payroll is 9.36% under budget
  11. We can only guess right now. The FO and ownership are hiding payroll/new investors like a present from Santa. Hoskins makes sense. May... not so much unless he's in the BP. Way to many. Could be, may be, I want them to be starting pitchers that will end up on the 40 man. May just doesn't fit
  12. If he's getting traded. the Mets and Red Sox line up better than the Giants. Without Eldridge, which I believe is not available, there's no trade here that remotely matches what was done at the deadline.
  13. Seems to me the problem the last 1 1/2 seasons was and still is the hitting*. If he wants to come back. I'd be good with that. (*health is a fair one as well)
  14. 1 year 3-5 mil, why not. A club option with a small buy out, ok sure. 2+ years no ty. There's plenty of low end, play once or twice a week options. Including ones on minor league deals. His positives with the team have some worth. Just not years of it.
  15. I'd ask what....is air speed velocity of an unweighted swallow... {MP the holy grail reference)
  16. IDK maybe it says rebuild. But why not bring in a completely new to managing guy then? Wouldn't that buy some more time? Wouldn't they have traded for more guys further away then? Lots of questions and no answers. We'll find out in soon enough.
  17. Congrats Dereck!! You poor bastard... OK, enough of Stu's angle. I'm sure he'll cover that on Friday. I believe the manager will have an effect the team's record to a certain point. +/- 5 wins? The players will determine that outcome. Ownership's direction and the FO's moves will determine it more than say Bobby Cox, Joe Torre or Derek Shelton can. I'd also add the managing the Pirates is probably not a fair assessment. YET. Give it a few months then maybe it is. We truly don't know yet. Trying to be optimistic. It's a struggle... No tickets bought for next season yet...
  18. The draft isn't what it was then, so those teams don't necessarily fit anymore. The Astro's hit on enough picks to get there. you could also add the Cubs to the Astro's tank to win later. The Orioles didn't take the plunge on spending. Their pitching they drafted either didn't work out or got injured. Add say DeGrom and Verlander to their 101-win 2023 team. Unfortunately, due to the way baseball and revenue works we are cursed to root for a team that will go through these cycles of bad for too long and good for not long enough. This "core" just wasn't good enough to get there and stay. They can stay in the mediocre (75-85 wins) range for a few more years if the FO spends on free agents and a few guys have good to great years. OR, they can punt and try again. Should this FO get another shot at it? Not IMO but they are what we're stuck with...
  19. Well, the title says you're asking for it on this site... I'd add the Brewers as a potential trade partner. If they keep Peralta and want to push it for a title Ryan is a perfect fit. Cheap next year and tradeable after that. Plus, they have big prospects. To me the Red Six don't line up very well. LOTS of great OF....prospects...I see it on BTV lots. Why would the Twins want more OF prospects. Abreu...he a platoon OF. We need more of those??? They Yankees probably would rather get Buxton then Ryan. The Padres don't have any prospects unless you want a young catcher who's looking a lot like the dodger one, we released earlier this season. Mets. OK there a good chance there to find something that works for both teams. Mets, Brewers and Giants. That'd be the ones I think have the will and the players to make it happen. Otherwise wait till the trade deadline.
  20. Kind of depends on how you look at it really. Playing for the Twins. YIKES...Cavarco was a helium pick. Those are 50/50 at best to begin with. Wallner has been a solid pick so far. Not great but not awful. E Rod was a complete unknown, and Jenkins wasn't an option at that time. Cant was a home run if you go by performance when healthy. That last word makes him just one of those guys that who knows what might have been. The rest are trade bait or bubble guys. You can pick it a part till you're blue in the face, but overall, they drafted well. Did they win a pennate because of them? Of course not, but they got a lot of positive from them or the players they got with this draft class
  21. Just my opinion. But McLean is likely not available after what he did. So, if you are seriously looking to trade Ryan to the Mets. What's left? Likely Tong and maybe Sproat for pitchers. The Twins and Mets do match up well for this trade. I did post a trade on BTV but I doubt the Mets would trade Alveraz.
  22. I can't tell you why, but Mendez really has my attention. Amick and Winokur are good prospect as well. He (Mendez) just seems like a small adjustment (more loft) or a different voice is all he needs to take it to the next level. Hoping I'm right about that....
  23. If we go with the tear, it down narrative. I can't see Torii as a good fit. I doubt he's patient enough to deal with what we may see next season. Better off getting someone who's been there before. My pick is Brandon Hyde. I believe he was one of the guys they considered before hiring Rocco.
  24. T.C Bear. If you didn't notice it. He is to blame for this mess we're in. T.C. has negative WAR year after year but yet there he is EVERY year! He finally infected the whole team...That's right T.C. bear is the bad guy.
  25. I agree 100% if Padlo gets traded it's not going to be pretty. BUT WHAT IF??? The Pohlad's say Fav you got up to 140 mil in payroll to work with?? I know crazy talk.... Naylor 3/60 or trade for Alec Burleson Williams (closer) 1 for 12 Kelly (starter)1+1 for 15+ per 2 3-4 mil DP arms Ryan traded to Angels for Neto and Adell Clemens, Martin and Lee bench Just wanted to change to a more positive subject. I realize it's highly unlikely, but a fan can dream.
