  1. My favorite thing about Santana is that in about 1/4 the number of games, Santana already has triple the RBI's and triple the doubles of Florimon and an OPS about .700 higher.
  2. Joe West is the biggest horses' pitute (or is it pitoot) in all of baseball. I knew he couldn't make it through a series without drawing attention to himself.
  3. The night that Escobar played Left Field and botched the ball to lose the game, it just occurred to me what we should have done. Plouffe actually played a pretty good corner outfield. Gardy should have played Plouffe in the OF and Escobar at 3B. Being short of outfielders, Plouffe should have been moved out there since we had an abundance of infielders. Just a thought. It would have been nice if Plouffe volunteered.
  4. Let's see, I was 10 for the first All-Star game here, 30 for the second, 58 for the 3rd, which means I'll be pushing 90 for the next one. I think I'd still rather watch it on TV than sit in the boonies for $500. It would be a better view.
  5. I guess you should be cured of this by now.
  6. Can we get Brooks Kieschnick to make a comeback? We could then add to both the OF and RP ranks. Plus his lifetime BA is .150 HIGHER than Florimon is batting and the guy had power to boot.
  7. Maybe we're cheating on the 40-man and hoping that the commissioner's office takes pity on us. and allows us to carry 41 guys.
  8. The game has started. The 40-man move HAS to have been made. Any word?
  9. Actually Herrmann is in RF and Kubel in LF, but yes Escobar is in CF. Suzuki and Pinto flip flop - Zuke is DH and Pinto is catching.
  10. Can we please bring up an actual outfielder NOW?
  11. Guess I shouldn't have said anything
  12. I appologize to Burton. He did okay. Just don't press our luck and let him pitch another inning. PS Don't put Duensing in either.
  13. Do we really want to put Burton in now?
  14. You could play Santana instead. Of course that would leave you with no one to pinch hit - Mauer injured, Florimon .109 BA .342 OPS, Herrmann .114 BA .298 OPS. I guess at least Herrmann gives you some versatility on the bench. Leaving Herrmann and Santana on the bench gives you an alleged backup at all positions.
  15. And Ray Scott when on radio he would paint you a picture, very eloquently, and on TV he'd let the picture tell the story. Totally understated.
  16. Best Twins booth ever - Ray Scott & Halsey Hall Most Professional booth - Ted Robinson & Kitty I wish the Twins had brought back Ryan Lefebvre instead of Provus.
  17. His value is to a team that needs a corner/DH type. It's just that the Twins this year already have Willingham/Arcia/Colabello/Kubel/Fuld/Pinto etc. and in the not too distant future you can add Rosario/Hicks (when Buxton moves to CF)/Kepler/Vargas/Harrison/Walker to the logjam. At this point, Parmelee isn't part of our future, but he could have value as a bench piece on a contender that doesn't have the surplus that the Twins do.
  18. Gardy: Okay Cowbell, you've cooled off the last couple of weeks. Do you really need to have mommy at a game to do well? If so, I'm considering a move. I need more flexibility on the team right now. Minnie Minoso is available. He can play all 3 OF spots, 1B, 3B and even SS in a pinch. He's got a lifetime batting average of .300 and an OPS around .850. I'd really like to see him add that eighth decade to his resume. He doesn't need his mommy around (besides I think she died when she was 95, back in the 60's). I like those veterans and at 88 I think he qualifies.
  19. ^ This. Parmelee is a AAAA player. His ceiling is Randy Bush - except he isn't great off the bench as a pinch hitter. His potential is a 12 homer, 40 RBI guy who can play corner outfield and 1B. Those types of players are a dime a dozen. He's having a great stretch at Rochester, but we've seen this before.
  20. Gardy: Let's talk about the bullpen. Andy: I think Burton just needs some tweaking. He'll be back. Gardy: I agree, and he plays a mean game of cribbage. Can we send those upstarts Theilbar and Tonkin down? I'd really like to add Guerrier, and if possible Jesse Crain as well. Oh, I also heard from Juany Rincon, he wants to make a comeback and so does J C Romero. Think we could pry Hawk from the Rockies? Andy: Yeah, there's nothing like a veteran bullpen. I'd feel most comfortable with at least 15 down in the pen.
  21. Most important - no Florimon!! Tonight's one-man bench - Pinto. (Mauer injured, Pedro worthless)
  22. Gardy: "Sammy, we need you to go at least 3 innings. Remember, we only have 16 guys in the bullpen. That makes 21 pitchers and 3 catchers on the team, and Mauersy is still sidelined with his bad back."
  23. So it's now a few days later. Gardy is leading a coaches meeting. Gardy: Andy, you did a great job on the Pelfrey problem. We got the injury past the commissioner's office. Now on to the next problem. Molly and Bruno, I need you to talk to Florimon about his groin issue. Nunzy is all set to go at Rochester. Molly: You got it skip. Molly and Bruno approach Pedro. Bruno: Pedro, we believe that your low average is due to your groin issue and you need to go on the 60-day DL. Pedro: No habla Englais. No comprendo. Bruno glances at Molly who takes the initiative to kick Florimon in the groin. Florimon falls to the ground in pain. Molly: So do you habla 60-day DL? Pedro: Si,si - 60-day DL. Later that afternoon at another coaches meeting. Gardy: Thanks guys, another problem solved. This should get all those guys at Twins Daily off my back for a while. I love my coaches!
  24. Okay, so Santana is now batting almost a full .900 points higher than Florimon.
