    Duensing - same as Burton
  2. ScottyB
Let's put Burton in, then we'll win - NOT

So with 2 shortstops and one of them DH'ing, what happens if Escobar gets injured. Do we lose our DH when Santana has to play short. How ironic.
  4. ScottyB
So Herrmann walks. We have a chance to score now, our hitter is Florimon. Oh well inning over.

So was it Thursday or Friday last week that Antony declared that Escobar would be getting the majority of the starts at SS. He has now started 2/6 with Florimon the other 4 (plus one start at 3B for Escobar.) And Santana continues to get splinters. This just shows that Florimon on the bench is a worthless option, can't hit and can't play any position other than SS. Send him down already.

Read: Gardy and Andy took Pelfrey into a back room, showed him some video from the game, and told him he had a groin injury. Pelfrey's response was "No, I'm fine. I'm sure I can work through this." Gardy glanced at Andy who took the initiative to kick Pelfrey in the groin. Pelfrey, on the ground responded, "My groin hurts, you better put me on the DL."

When Arcia is ready to come off DL, I think it would make much more sense to send Florimon down. Santana plays multiple positions and Florimon ONLY shortstop. If he is not starting, he's a waste of a roster spot.

Just a reminder - another bad outing by Burton. Dump this guy now, and you can add Pelfrey to my dump list. And oh yeah, it's time to send down Florimon as well. I give guys long ropes to hang themselves, but didn't Gardy say in ST its time to put up or shut up. Do your job or we'll move on. It's time to move on from these three. I'm done with them.

I agree on the Duensing deal. This would be a good time to sell high, with his ERA at 0.00 after 9 games, cause this sure isn't gonna last. Think about replacing him with Kris Johnson (and maybe give him a spot start).
  10. ScottyB
How much rope does this guy get? Today 26 pitches; 14 strikes, 2BB's; 2 hits; 1 run. Please don't keep him over Tonkin.
  11. ScottyB
Burton has an option next year. My guess is Gardy will slot him back to a 5th or 6th inning option for a while, thereby demoting him, but not releasing him. If he builds back into a decent pitcher, he could be traded and permanently replaced by Tonkin.
  12. ScottyB
Escobar and Burton have no options. If they bring up Nunez, Florimon gets demoted because he can only play shortstop. They tried to see if he could play multiple positions, but he is uncomfortable everywhere but SS. Burton could get DFA'd, which they seem to be more willing to do with players this season. My guess is he won't be. Instead expect Tonkin to be sent down again - but he'll be back soon. Herrmann will probably be sent down, but with Willingham and Arcia coming back (after rehab stints) and Herrmann gone, it will mean fewer at-bats for Pinto. The question becomes - how do you get Willingham, Arcia, Kubel, Pinto and Colabello in the lineup at the same time?
  13. ScottyB
You can't get much lower than Fred Manrique. A glorious name from the past.
  14. ScottyB
Maybe I should have said "Time to Dump Burton". We can afford to eat his salary at this point. He's not a part of the future, and at this point, shouldn't be part of the present.
  15. ScottyB
If the Twins go with the same theme next year, there are several ex-Twins up for free agency. Some of the bigger names include Torii, Cuddy, AJ, Liriano and my choice to actually go after JJ Hardy.
  16. ScottyB
Can we please trade Jared Burton? He's shown nothing since about the middle of last season. When we go to 12 pitchers, Tonkin deserves to stay. If we stay with 13 pitchers, I think there are about 4 or 5 who would be better than Burton, including Guerrier.
  17. ScottyB
But remember Nishi also sucked as a fielder. At least Florimon can play defense. Nishi had no business in a major league uniform.

I've always said that Plouffe was part of the future. I remember what a poor fielder Corey Koskie was and he became an outstanding fielder with practice. Once Sano is ready, don't throw Plouffe out, he becomes a leader for a strong bench. Move him around the infield and outfield and he becomes a strong 10th man who relieves at all positions, but catcher, virtually every day. And I believe he has the makeup and mental strength to play a different position every night.
  19. ScottyB
Seth, you're showing Herrmann as a backup at 3B. He played 1 game there in 2012 at New Britain. I've always felt playing 3B would increase his value, but hadn't heard he was taking reps there. Do you know something we don't?
  20. ScottyB
Maybe we can trade Burton so Tonkin can stay.
  21. ScottyB
How do we feel now - Bonofacio vs Bartlett on the roster? Bonofacio early season stats - 9 GP; .452 BA; 1.024 OPS; 7 SB GP - 5 2B; 6 CF; 1 3B, 1 SS They love him in Chicago - I sure wish we'd gotten him in place of Bartlett.
  22. ScottyB
Twins should have gone for Bonifacio - switch hitter batting .542 with 4 SB already. A much better option on the bench than Bartlett because of speed and versatility. He's already played CF, 2B and SS for the Cubs. He's not an outstanding fielder, but he's adequate. He can also play 3B, corner OF and probably 1B.
  23. ScottyB
I say the Twins should go all-in by adding either Jason Pridie or Jason Tyner for a Jason trifecta.
  24. ScottyB
Didn't Mastroianni just injure his wrist similar to Buxton?
  25. ScottyB
There's a rumor that Gardy's still peeved at Hicks and is planning on an outfield of Willingham, Kubel and Arcia - what defense!
