  1. Replace the names you had there with Sano, Buxton, Berrios and Kepler and you have what they fed to us a few years back. I don't trust that this next "wave" will be all that you are thinking they are. Are some of them going to pan out? Yep, they will. Will more of them fail than pan out? Yep. I think it needs to be a measured approach. Dumping anyone that is under team control right now looking forward to 2020 or beyond I think is a mistake. If they think they have a team that will be ready to rock in 2020 or so, they should be looking to build a team that is ready for 1 or 2 of those stud prospects to contribute to. Remember, Buxton and Sano still have plenty of potential and if they come back and do what we were all told they were capable of, this team can be pretty good. You also have a pretty nice starting staff right now with a guy like Romero waiting to do his thing. A guy like Gibson or Pressly can be a part of any team that looks to contend in 2020.
  2. Until he can lay off the junkballs on the outside part of the plate, he won't be able to do much. Everyone has him figured out and he hasn't adjusted. Seems simple, just hold up on anything out that way.
  3. I mean, honestly, does it really matter? As soon as Sano had to get sent down along with Buxton, this season was over. Those 2 held the keys for this season and completely tanked. In fact, they hold the keys to this organization's success or lack there of for the next few years. If they can't make it, this will turn into ANOTHER rebuild. Fun...
  4. That's just it. Those clamoring for Gordon better just get ready. He's a slap hitter at best and likely not a difference maker anyway.
  5. Yep, I don't think it's going to happen. When one thing goes right, the other fails each game. That's the sign of an incosistent, marginal team. If they can finish the season at .500, I guess that would be good. That said, I thought this year would be a step forward. Instead, it's been a step back and now we are worrying that the 2 hyped up "chosen ones" are just that - hype. Let's hope not, if those 2 can't carry us, it's gonna be another pretty long stretch of bad Twins teams.
  6. This kid looks like the real deal. The stuff alone makes him a clear notch above most. He also seems supremely confident, which bodes well also. Him and Berrios at the top if these guys truly keep maturing looks to be a great 1-2 punch. Gonsalves? Sure, he should be fine, but I see him as a #4 type guy. Berrios and Romero have electric pitches/movement, etc. They are both a joy to watch up there.
  7. It's kind of the Twin MO though throughout the years. Sign washed up vets and let them get their head beat in for half a season before making a change. I am always of the belief if you are going to sign FAs, sign high end guys and forget about guys like Lance Lynn. IMO, there are 2-3 guys in our system right now that could do as good or better than he has for the league minimum, with no feelings of "having" to keep them in the rotation because you have a decent wad of money invested in them.
  8. It is just super odd how this team has such a hard time playing against the pinstripes. As has been said, even when they aren't this unbeatable squad, the Twins seem to make them that way. No matter who is on our roster and who is on theirs. I'm not even sure it is psychological what with the different roster makeups. Either way, it gets old to fans! BEAT the Yankees!!
  9. Sano does for sure. Morrison can sit just because he has done nothing.
  10. Send a message to the slugs of the lineup if you are going to do anything. I would tell Morrison to get his **** together, or here is a bus ticket. Sano needs some bench time as well. I hate to break it to him, but until he learns to hit breaking pitches, that is all he will see. He rarely even makes contact with them right now. Buxton coming back will help the defense for sure. At the plate though, he hasn't been good yet this year and it's possible he will make the lineup even worse. Him coming back and producing at the plate would really help this team. As far as the pitching goes? It can't get worse right? Bullpen needs some help. Not sure where it will come from but I can tell you Zack Duke needs to sit for awhile, he likes to give up homeruns. Also curious as to what is going on with Hildenberger, seems like team had trouble picking him up last year???
  11. What is the huge facination with Gordon? Slap hitting, decent at best OB guy who's glove is said to be fringy at short? He's trade bait all day if I am running this organization. Bring him up here and let him fail, now you are looking at a guy who was thought of as a top prospect now being worth little. Leave him down until the trade deadline, then package him up and get us the best reliever and starter out there to help them go on a run.
  12. He's your starting shortstop. Getting into WAR this and WAR that is foolish in this situation. The kid has/had an opportunity to lock down this position for the next few years at least. Besides catcher, THE most important position on the diamond. The Twins are not as good without him as they are with him. That's the bottom line IMO. Heck, he carried this team for a stretch with his bat last year also, remember?
  13. That article is sad. I kinda wish the Twins would at least offer a 3-4 year deal to the guy. I'm of the thought that Gordon is at best a utility guy. He'd be here by now if he were any good. Slap hitter, set for the bottom of the order vs. a guy you can slot in anywhere in the top 4 spots of your lineup. I get the fact that there are some options in our organization, but Dozier is still in his prime. Unless he is truly looking for the 4-6 year deal, I think the Twins should at least be exploring options with him.
  14. This signing is fine if it's paired with another high end guy or trade for a high end guy in the next 2 years. If not, it's just another dumpster dive. I appreciate the FO thinking outside of the box, but at one time or another, I would just like to have a stud gift wrapped and placed under the Christmas tree. Not one that has to be fixed the minute you open it.
  15. This is a meh type move for me. As usual, the Twins dabble in the mid-ranges of Free Agency. My opinion is that if you aren't going to sign true impact FAs, then fill in within your system. I'm of the belief that one stud = 3 marginal types. Not sure why the Twins have never tried this approach. Buy the best available player out there in your position of need, then fill in the other holes from within your organization. A guy like Rodney likely just gets in the way of someone younger than he and costs games in the process. Not sure if anyone remembers the guy, but he is a walk machine and can and will implode at a moments notice. Not impressed. Do we think they are saving money for that big name starter? Possibly, but the track record of the Pohlad's says hell no.
