  1. Apparently he’s here for the singular purpose of ‘being able’ to DH the catchers.
  2. But against this team? Really hard to give up 4 runs in one inning to this club. What I don’t get is why Rocco went Stewart, Thielbar…instead of Thielbar, Stewart. The first two guys Stewart faced were lefties. Basically, can’t pitch pitch Thielbar against right-handlers except in the very lowest of leverage.
  3. It’s hard to believe you can lose when one of your 12 players played so well.
  4. Can’t be. ‘Cause, I’ve read a dozen articles here that establish him as one of the reasons the Twins will have the best bullpen in baseball.
  5. The only way you can even reach that pitch is by know exactly what the pitch is going to be.
  6. Bailed out by a couple of icky at-bats.
  7. As they say….even a broken Foucault Pendulum is right once a year.
  8. He was my pick to click! I just didn’t want to jinx him…have it written down on a piece of paper next to me, though.
  9. Rocco realized his OBP is 1.000 when pinch running (score one for analytics). Rocco being Rocco…just putting players in spots where they can succeed.
  10. Margot OR Wallner is lunacy. But the rules say you have to play 9.
  11. I mean…I don’t think it matters whether number 5 is Varland or SWR…having said that…one horrendous inning among 8 pitched doesn’t really sell me on SWR….especially on the heels of a very underwhelming 2023. Today was definitely encouraging, I’m sure if he sustains anything in St Paul, he’ll get more chances.
  12. Meh…fwiw, SWR’s first two starts in St. Paul were nothing to write home about, fairly poor, actually. He has plenty he can work on in St Paul. (Not that Varland couldn’t use some time there, as well.)
  13. Detroit’s a very weak team offensively. Still…2 earned runs in 21 innings! Lotta pitchers stepped up today.
  14. SWR better than we could have hoped…now let’s get some runs!
  15. If Buxton’s going to keep pulling that pitch, there really is no hope.
  16. Jim Eisenreich was among the most overall talented CF the Twins ever had. Horrible break for the Twins that he couldn’t play, but ended up having a nice career much later after the Tourette’s was under control.
  17. Riding Jeffers in the two hole against a righty! Might as well. If I’m in the clubhouse I’m making sure Jeffers doesn’t shower or change uniforms. Not even his socks.
  18. I kinda agree with this sentiment…but I’ll give it until deeper into the season. But yes, if it continues, it will start reminding me of the Brusdar Graterol as a starter ruse.
  19. I don’t like it either. But MLB’s way of banning it (in their infinite wisdom) would undoubtedly be by expanding the rosters. Which every team would, more often than not, fill with yet another reliever, which only compounds the low BA and high K theme…and the shorter and shorter ‘max effort every pitch’ starts. So, no thanks
  20. Kind of a vague ‘I wonder what the post-game spread is going to be’ expression. And I can’t find any fault in that tonight.
  21. Yep. Strike outs are an issue for the Twins. But as the Dodgers showed and as Detroit is showing tonight…the bigger problem is what’s happening when we DON’T strike out. And that’s pretty consistently nothing.
  22. Buxton’s going to avoid the golden sombrero the old fashioned way…by grabbing some pine.
