  1. Ryan with 77 pitches to get through 4 innings. Really rough. The bullpen says “hold my beer” and uses 95 pitches to get through the next 4. This is a trend with both the Twins and the Saints. There’s no possible way the org has even close to enough arms at these levels and at this rate to get through the season. Lots of waiver wire pick ups/drops and promotions on the horizon, along with college and independent league free agents to replenish the lower levels. Ugly.
  2. While Charlee Soto remains interesting as a prospect, at this point I’ll have to see that the “huge upside” (starter) is still intact before I’m buying back in. I guess it’s a positive that they’re thinking of a A+ restart. I’m hoping for 50+ innings…maybe 4-inning outings when things go well by August or September??
  3. Can’t disagree. 1. The lineup isn’t very good 2. The defense is iffy 3. The baserunning is aggressive…and ineffective 4. The rotation is wildly inefficient 5. The bullpen is a dry keg of gunpowder All of which beg the question…If Mrs Lincoln had already KNOWN GOING INto the play that her husband would be assassinated, would she have enjoyed the performance more.
  4. And our baserunners may not all be fast, but at least they all seem to exhibit really poor judgment and instincts.
  5. No way, Peter! Only a game-and-a-half out of the last Wild Card spot. I’ll be scoreboard watching along with you tonight!
  6. Marshal Bradley having a tough time striking the target.
  7. The most amazing thing about Ryan is how well he’s been pretending that he’s fine with the Twins not having moved him to a team that’s trying during the offseason. I expect to see some cracks in that mask long before the deadline.
  8. Over 50 teams have won the World Series after starting the season with an 0-1 record. I’m not worried. Gotta win Saturday, though.
  9. Acquire in trade, then mothball behind Trevor Larnach. Seems about right. This way, we have quality depth in case Larnach and Outman are both on IL during the playoffs.
  10. Loaded? If I had a dime…I’d have at least 2 dimes…last season TD described the Saints pitching staff the same way heading into the season. They finished 24 games under 500 and gave up the 4th most runs in a 20-team league. Let’s just see who emerges. There does seem to be more possibilities along those lines. If they truly prove to be ‘loaded’ this year, let’s pray they don’t stay loaded for long.
  11. Which came to light, at least to the general fandom, well after his age 21 season. I could have used plenty of other examples. Royce Lewis will turn 27 in a couple of months, and we still don’t know if we’ll be talking about what he is, or what he could have been. And his issues have gone far beyond the ACL’s. The trend is currently not Jenkins friend. I acknowledge there are many instances of guys with multiple issues early, that go on to have extended mostly-healthy careers. But I’m not one to generally characterize frequent injuries as 100% bad-luck that is guaranteed to rectify itself.
  12. The same could have been said about Kiriloff at 21. Sometimes the body just doesn’t cooperate. With today’s medical tech, I’d much rather see a random ALC/MLC than the chronic so-called “minor” stuff Jenkins has been experiencing. But, yes…it’s quite possible 3 years from now this is all in the rear view mirror.
  13. I feel like Marco Raya should be approaching some of the career records for Spring Breakout Game appearances.
  14. Joe really could have used the bump to his career postseason OPS of 641.
  15. I’d rather the worse hitter in the majors be a struggling Twins prospect, honestly. But Kreidler is the safe play to ensure “competitiveness”. Right? sigh.
  16. Both need to get every possible opportunity to fail, and fail repeatedly, at the major league level this year. No excuse for this not to be the case in 2026. Both have the upside to warrant an early-to-immediate long look. If management is unwilling to take advantage of the 2026 situation with early promotion of valued, healthy 24/25 year-old prospects… (also Raya, Prielipp, etc….it’s not like any of these guys are even very “young” at this point)…then there’s truly no hope for this organization.
  17. Every rule has an exception. The exception to this rule is when the 40-man roster only has about 5-7 position players that you hope DO play. That's where this club is....until the prospects are called up, the 25-man is guaranteed to be littered with mediocre (or worse) players that have zero future on an actual competitive major league club. No guarantee with the prospects, but at least they are "interesting" or players most would "want" to see play.
  18. Make the wrong choice here, and the Twins could finish 4th or 5th in the division.
  19. I don’t think doubting or pessimism is the same as “wanting to fail”. There’s a ton of objective evidence that the K’s can and will undo him if he can’t improve fairly significantly in that regard….no matter the power. Is he going to have Sano+ power? He’ll need it at this point. His K rate has been higher than Sano’s at pretty much every level. Even more so when considering Sano was younger at the upper levels. And against Spring Training pitching it’s been much worse yet. Rodriguez’s K rate has been 49% across his spring training PA’s, 43% this year. That’s against major league and 4-A pitchers that are not game planning against him. The walk rate has been below 10%. I do think he’s going to be a high BA BABiP guy, but not 750, as it was this spring. Also, it still seems he’s going to have some positive defensive value. A lot of work to do yet, IMO. Still, not against bringing him up at the slightest sign of improvement…because, why not. I can squint and still see a high ceiling. But the floor still feels subterranean to me.
  20. Based on game availability, there might be a better chance he wins AL RoY in about 2031. Of course, there’s a 50% chance it would be NL RoY by that time.
  21. The argument for begins and ends with “why not”. The argument against is he’s likely to K at about a 50% clip and walk at about 10% (if even that). In other words, he pretty clearly isn’t ready.
  22. Outman is a true CF…Roden is not. Meanwhile Outman has been fine offensively…if we’re just looking at this spring (relative to Roden). About the only thing I see in Roden over Outman is that Roden is a couple years younger than Outman…which, admittedly, isn’t nothing. Rodriguez now has 25 K and 4 BB in 49 career spring training PA (8 and 1 in 17 PA this spring)…along with a 500 BABiP (667 this spring).
