  1. Really has been on a heater for quite some time now. You never know. We need to develop or acquire a legitimate RH power bat sometime between now and being a good team one would think. The one we have isn’t going to be getting any consistently better/healthier at this point.
  2. We have no idea who any of these guys are beyond baseball in the glimpses we get. We only imagine we do. I’ll take the guy that wins games as long as they aren’t breaking laws.
  3. So the Twins rightfully should still be on their winless postseason streak.
  4. You have a different interpretation of the word loser than I do.
  5. And the changeup is 83-84. I honestly don’t know how he gets anyone out, but he does generally at an acceptable-ish rate.
  6. But to have a realistic shot at the division, they’d need to win at least 8 of their next 5. And hope Cleveland cools off.
  7. Well, other than that Gibson’s won a pivotal World Series game, and Buxton’s would have potentially won a game in August to bring his team to 6 games under 500. We probably should preface it by calling it a Twins Kirk Gibson moment.
  8. Oh, good. I was afraid Buxton might not be available to watch a day game after having watched a night game.
  9. No. No, it won’t. The season was defined a long time ago. I’d go with before the season started. If anything, this club slightly overachieved. 15 games isn’t going to change anything. Although, I’m sure the Pohlads would love to see more headlines like this. It’s exactly the way they want the masses to look at the club. “Relevant”, “In it”. They’re neither.
  10. 4 games out of the wild card and 4 games from 13th place in a 15-team league. Where would the Twins be in the NL? Probably 13th. Maybe as high as 10th around the time of the deadline?…and we could have avoided the buying for the sake of buying charade. I don’t mind giving up upside prospects in trades if the club warrants it…and the trade has a chance of actually moving the needle. But, it didn’t, and it didn’t.
  11. Southern Cross, CSN (really just SN). Too good to be called yacht rock, but you can’t get any yacht-ier.
  12. Twins have a few 18-19 ish international guys having very very good years. Mostly hitters. They just aren’t necessarily the ones that we would have thought back when they signed. Exhibit 1001 16 years old is a bit absurd. That might change this winter.
  13. And some of you kind but naive folks assumed it would be the obvious and logical choice of Buxton. Since Roden has been up… Roden OPS 647 fWAR 0.0, healthy Buxton OPS 477 fWAR -0.3 not healthy
  14. What the Twins added this year makes it RADICALLY different from last year? I would say not really. And when you sell the guys they sold last year (relievers) you don’t get THAT much top end MLB ready talent. That would have come with trading a Buxton or Ryan at any point in the past 12 months (theoretically in Buxton’s case). Still, a healthy Abel might have moved the needle.
  15. It’s Morris. What are they going to look for? And if you want to continually throw it over the plate at the top of the zone, what will they look for then? I’m pretty sure if the first pitch to France was 99 down and in, he would have missed it by a foot. You can’t hit 99 top of the zone unless you’re looking both fastball AND top of the zone. Tipping certainly wouldn’t help, but I’d be more concerned with demonstrating ability and willingness to throw my go-to pitch to all extremes of the K zone.
  16. Right now Tom is in Zoll’s office…. “DAMMIT JEREMY, I DON’T CARE HOW MUCH SENSE IT MAKES…WE NEED THE POSSIBILITY OF BUXTON PLAYING HOME GAMES IN SEPTEMBER TO HIT THE NUMBER!! TELL SHELTY HE DOESN’T HAVE TO PLAY HIM MORE THAN ONCE A SERIES…BUT HE HAS TO BE ON THE 26 MAN!!!!!!!”
  17. That wouldn’t be replacing Buxton, that would be doing a series of things Buxton hasn’t come within a universe of accomplishing. Just sayin’.
  18. I’d have shut him down a month ago. And I would have been correct.
  19. The promotion is likely to come as a corresponding move to Byron Buxton hitting the IL, You’d think. Still, I’ll believe it when I see it.
  20. Pioneer Press headline from yesterday: Twins Take Wait and See Approach with Buxton You can’t make it up. This organization is so unserious. It’s become a very bad joke. Do they need his permission to shut him down? No. Just do it, and use the remaining schedule to let Jenkins and/or Rodriguez get a taste.
  21. Before anyone goes disparaging the Kernels pitching staff, know this: …they stranded 11 baserunners, and only 18 of the runs were earned.
  22. This. And in doing so, the org continues to drift aimlessly…while the new face of the org makes the same tired and meaningless claims that the club will “compete” for ALC titles…but making the claims more frequently, and emphatically than his brother. Yay.
  23. Buxton has been below replacement level (when available at all) since June 16, which was about two weeks before his first brief stretch of time off. This is completely predictable, even normal, and in a way it’s absurd that we obsess about it at this point. At this point it has to be less of a distraction for his teammates…at least the veterans…than it is for the fans and media. Now it’s become past time to build a team around a new core and fit Buxton around that core as best benefits the team.
  24. Also…if Jenkins IS with the team come Friday for the series against the White Sox they were never serious about winning this year.
  25. Half measures on top of half measures is the blueprint for remaining totally irrelevant…which is what this club is, and has been for a while now, regardless of whether they sneak into the 2026 AL postseason.
