Zebby Balazovic? Other than the still-symetrical facial features, he looks just like Jordan out there. Pick your poison…home runs or walks.

Matt Wallner Has Made the Right Adjustment
jkcarew replied to Matthew Trueblood's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I think the lesson to be learned here is not whether Wallner is good or not good per se… but instead, that an article RIDICULING his skills and adjustments would necessarily have resulted in the INVERSE of what he’s done since this favorable article was written. Instead of 7 K’s in his next 9 PA…which is what he’s done…we’d be looking at 7 HR in 9 PA. At least. It’s obvious. Stop writing positive articles about guys’ performances or adjustments immediately prior to a game. On the other hand, ripping a player in this situation never hurts, and usually results in said player instantly going on a tear. I can’t believe I even have to say this. We should all know this by now. Let’s be a little more responsible. -

Rays 7, Twins 1: Rays Run Wild Over Abel and the Twins
jkcarew replied to Steven Trefz's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The Orioles, Royals, and Rays are 5-3 against the Twins. And 5-11 against everyone else. Also, I realize ABS is something new, and so it’s going to be commented on frequently, especially early on. Still, the early ABS fails, and the subsequent strike zone, had zero to do with the trajectory and eventual outcome of this game. The write-up kinda insinuates otherwise. Also interesting…if the Twins had taken it down to the studs this offseason and traded Lopez, Ryan, AND Buxton…and for nothing but minor league prospects…their record right now would be no worse than….3-5. But yes, with less of that false ‘hope’ the masses never grow tired of buying from the Pohlads.- 47 replies

Not much to show for it after the first week. A huge negative run differential, and really bad pitching. Really bad. Pretty non-descript starts for most the ‘prospects’ at the plate and on the mound.

Ranking 2026 Twins Prospects By Best Power Tool
jkcarew replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
ERod…at least so far with the Saints…has pretty obviously been trying to change the approach to curb the K’s. He’s been more aggressive early in the count and taken fewer pitches in the strike zone, and swung at more close pitches with 2 strikes. It will take time…so far, it’s resulted, predictably, with more softer in-play contact and fewer K’s. So the BABiP has suffered, along with fewer walks as well. But he ran into one last night big time. Small sample obviously…but it is very clear, IMO, that he is consciously trying something different which I commend.- 5 replies

Ryan with 77 pitches to get through 4 innings. Really rough. The bullpen says “hold my beer” and uses 95 pitches to get through the next 4. This is a trend with both the Twins and the Saints. There’s no possible way the org has even close to enough arms at these levels and at this rate to get through the season. Lots of waiver wire pick ups/drops and promotions on the horizon, along with college and independent league free agents to replenish the lower levels. Ugly.

While Charlee Soto remains interesting as a prospect, at this point I’ll have to see that the “huge upside” (starter) is still intact before I’m buying back in. I guess it’s a positive that they’re thinking of a A+ restart. I’m hoping for 50+ innings…maybe 4-inning outings when things go well by August or September??

Can’t disagree. 1. The lineup isn’t very good 2. The defense is iffy 3. The baserunning is aggressive…and ineffective 4. The rotation is wildly inefficient 5. The bullpen is a dry keg of gunpowder All of which beg the question…If Mrs Lincoln had already KNOWN GOING INto the play that her husband would be assassinated, would she have enjoyed the performance more.

And our baserunners may not all be fast, but at least they all seem to exhibit really poor judgment and instincts.

Over 50 teams have won the World Series after starting the season with an 0-1 record. I’m not worried. Gotta win Saturday, though.

Acquire in trade, then mothball behind Trevor Larnach. Seems about right. This way, we have quality depth in case Larnach and Outman are both on IL during the playoffs.

Loaded? If I had a dime…I’d have at least 2 dimes…last season TD described the Saints pitching staff the same way heading into the season. They finished 24 games under 500 and gave up the 4th most runs in a 20-team league. Let’s just see who emerges. There does seem to be more possibilities along those lines. If they truly prove to be ‘loaded’ this year, let’s pray they don’t stay loaded for long.

Which came to light, at least to the general fandom, well after his age 21 season. I could have used plenty of other examples. Royce Lewis will turn 27 in a couple of months, and we still don’t know if we’ll be talking about what he is, or what he could have been. And his issues have gone far beyond the ACL’s. The trend is currently not Jenkins friend. I acknowledge there are many instances of guys with multiple issues early, that go on to have extended mostly-healthy careers. But I’m not one to generally characterize frequent injuries as 100% bad-luck that is guaranteed to rectify itself.

The same could have been said about Kiriloff at 21. Sometimes the body just doesn’t cooperate. With today’s medical tech, I’d much rather see a random ALC/MLC than the chronic so-called “minor” stuff Jenkins has been experiencing. But, yes…it’s quite possible 3 years from now this is all in the rear view mirror.
