  1. I'm hoping to have Connor Prielipp in the pen by mid season and being very good unless his left arm falls off of course!
  2. Does anyone remember who the Jay's top prospects were at the time this deal was made? If Martin and SWR were their #2 and #5 rated prospects, that's probably as good as we were going to get.
  3. Mountcastle is a better hitter than Miranda and he hits home runs, Miranda does not. Better defender also. I'm taking a veteran with a track record and a reasonable contract over hoping for Miranda 's upside which may or may not happen.
  4. Mountcastle & Basallo for Lopez. 15 million savings, first base and catcher solved. 2 everyday players for 1 who plays every 5 days. Don't ask me who pitches game 1 if we make the playoffs!
  5. Mountcastle is very obtainable and better than any of the stiffs listed. 6 million per year is doable by trading Paddock to the O's plus a couple of mid level prospects.
  6. I believe that Boston would trade Duran for Lopez if they miss out on Burnes because they could move Abreu to center and slot Roman Anthony in left. 5 years of Duran in center, moving Buxton to left and Larnach to DH vs. 3 years of Lopez while saving 17 million while painful, is adding a very good right handed bat and extending Buxton's ability to stay on the field.
  7. I had Teel at the top of my wish list. Time to grab Rushing from the Dodgers before he's gone too. Castro and Duran?
  8. TopGunn#22: your trade proposal with Boston is spot on! I have wracked my brain trying to come up with a deal to get Teel, but I do believe the Twins would have to kick in 5 million towards Vasquez's salary or add a prospect (possibly as high up as Raya) to the deal for Boston to say yes. Again, I would do this deal.
  9. I like the idea of Jax converting to a starter because if he succeeds and the Twins can trade Paddock they can keep SWR, Matthews, Festa, and Raya rotating the 5th starter role via the bus from St. Paul and add an extra day off between starts here and there for Jax. Starting pitching is too expensive for a team on a budget!
  10. T&R...if you want Ford included in your deal it will take more than Miranda and Topa. They may do Lewis for Miller straight up but I wouldn't. Lewis, Keaschall, & Raya might get it done for Miller and Ford. I'd do that.
  11. I don't see the Twins dealing Vasquez because I don't believe they are willing to throw in any money to move him. Trading Paddock to a team needing starting pitching depth should net a prospect but i think the Twins keep him and trade Castro to get payroll where they need it to be.
  12. Reid Detmers would be a more worthwhile reclamation project than Sandoval and cheaper.
  13. Larnach straight up isn't going to do it. I think it would take at least Lewis for the fish to even consider this trade. I would set my sights higher and make the Cubs an offer they can't refuse for Steele. Lewis, Julien, and Matthews?
  14. I'm intrigued by Reid Detmers! He can hit 98 with his fastball, he's a lefty, he's a former 1st rounder, and the Angels may feel like they can't count on him in the rotation. Not sure what we would have to give up (Morris?). Let him start with the Saints and if doesn't get it together by mid season as starter depth, move him to the Twins bullpen and tell him to let it rip for a few innings and solve our lefty in the pen vacancy.
  15. A 35 year old lefty with rotator cuff issues? A hard pass on Solano and Canha, no more aging vets. We still need a catcher to replace Vasquez which will require a couple of our top prospects or Duran and a lesser prospect if you want Teel or Rushing.
  16. I think Duran and Castro for Rushing is the best proposal likely to be done. Dodgers need to replace Grateral and Ki'ke Hernandez and we need a catcher, although my priority is to trade prospect capital for Casas and his 40 HR potential because free agent money for Walker isn't going to happen. Yes, I would trade Lopez and Duran for Casas, Teel, and Rafaela. I think Boston will miss out on Crochet and won't pay for the few top free agent pitchers making this deal more likely.
  17. Rafaela would solve the SS & CF backup the Twins need making Castro expendable. How about Festa, Morris, and Duran for Teel and Rafaela?
  18. I agree that it needs to be Teel or no deal with the Bosox. I think O'hoppe is a better option for the Twins. The Angels can get an ace without paying mega free agent prices and the Angels have just the right handed corner outfielder we desperately need in Taylor Ward. So the Twins send Lopez, Wallner, Julien, and Raya to the Angels for O'hoppe, Ward, Anderson, and Detmers. Salaries match up at about 23 million per side. O'hoppe will be expensive in trade capital but immediately improves our catching. Anderson is a drop off in the rotation for a year but a solid starter that could be extended. Emma will move in to RF at some point in 2025, moving Ward to LF and upgrading that position too. If Detmers can finally figure it out at AAA, (he is a 1st round draft pick) we add starter depth or move him to the pen for a much needed left handed option.
  19. Teel is the catching prospect at the top of my wish list but you are correct that it will take more than Duran to get him. If the Bosox want a top prospect to make the deal I would offer either Keaschall or Raya. If they say no, offer Julian. Catching is going to be expensive!
  20. Nobody is giving up their next CyYoung pitching prospect for Lewis until he plays a 150 game season with all star results. Until then, he's not a "franchise" type player you want to believe in. Pardon the pun but leg injuries are the Achilles heel of baseball players (see Buxton).
  21. The Rays won't take on any of his salary because they don't need to. At least 2 teams that have the money to pay him need a 1st baseman ( NY & Houston).
  22. The Twins don't really have a choice. They're not signing a free agent, and nobody is going to give up a good starting catcher or a top catching prospect in a trade unless we give up 1 or 2 of our top prospects or 1 of our top starters and a 3-7 type prospect that another team really wants.
  23. Castro for Rushing saves 6.5 million to aquire Mountcastle for 1st base (for Matthew's or Raya) and nets a top MLB ready catcher, solidifying 2 positions of need. Now I trade Lopez to the Bosox for center fielder Duran and move Buxton to LF and trade Vasquez to the Astros for 5 million cash saving 5 million. Now you have 25 million to spend on pitching if the Pohlads don't pocket it!
