  1. And now Cron is participating, too.
  2. This is the worst baseball game I’ve seen in a long time.
  3. Pineda doing a good job of making sure the Astros are hitting the ball at people very hard.
  4. I’m not ready to get a starter... yet. I’ve been ready to get a reliever going on six months. But yes, this is the year to be aggressive. It’s basically impossible to make a decent trade at this point of the season but roll the dice with some aggressive call-ups, maybe you get lucky.
  5. Even that doesn’t tell the entire story. He had an excellent start to open the season, a kinda bad 4.2 IP start, then a disaster start. So really, he has been okay to great in all starts except one.
  6. They were able to analyze the lack of data and come away with some interesting conclusions about it, I’m sure.
  7. Heh, I remember that crossover event. Not exactly one of my favorites.
  8. Galactus is challenging for sure but I suspect marvel would simply make him giant and purple and we’d all love it.
  9. I've always had an unreasonably hard time with Wilson as Cap because he's just a dude with a shield. But I like Mackie and will certainly give the show a try when it releases.
  10. The end of Phase IV could be Galactus and the Surfer, which would be freakin' amazing.
  11. I loved First Class and Singer’s first two movies were pretty good. I think people tend to overlook FF because their movie treatments have been abysmal. Make a good Doom movie, add some negative zone madness, and just run with it.
  12. Third base shifts don't sent players into the stands. In a shift, the throw is shorter, not longer.
  13. I'm 42 (Douglas Adams, yarrrrr). I was also at the tail end of college when I found the ESPN board. It's kind of bonkers to think about that. I still remember my first post in 1999, wondering why no one attended games in the Metrodome because I was so desperate to see the Twins play a live game at home but could not because I lived in SoCal. Then I taught myself how to code at and decided it would be fun to launch a baseball forum. And that was BYTO, a name I basically chose on a lark.
  14. I honestly don't think Cave's handedness has much of a role in the decision. He's a good outfielder. Buxton is the best outfielder in baseball. Kepler is a capable replacement in center. Those two are cornerstones of the Twins' success in the future. Meanwhile, Rosario is a beast. There simply isn't a lot of room for a guy like Cave in an outfield like that. He doesn't bring anything to the table that isn't already covered by better, more established players with whom the franchise has a lot more investment in seeing succeed.
  15. Indeed. It's kind of amazing, isn't it? I don't know any other communities out there that have posters still arguing with one another after two decades.
  16. Short answer, no. Long answer, no. Much of my family is evangelical Christian. I had little use for most of them before the 2016 election because I thought their platform was trampling personal rights. Since 2016, I've seen them line up straight behind Trump, often with the excuse "God's will is exercised through flawed people" or some such nonsense related to that. It's literally the laziest excuse a moral person could use to support a bad person and any moral standing the Christian Right had before Trump (honestly, I somewhat sympathize with them over abortion) has gone out the window because they are nothing more than opportunistic hypocrites. Those people will not waver because they have sold their own morality for... well, I'm not even sure what they sold it for, but they did.
  17. I mean, this photoshopped image of Krasinski as Mister Fantastic...
  18. Yuck. And for double yuck, I wonder if I’m distantly related to him. My great-grandmother’s name was Piche and we came from Quebec, where the family settled in the 17th century. There’s a good chance I’m very distantly related to that guy.
  19. It’s fair to distrust without evidence; even prudent, I’d say. You don’t have the same trust in Ben that I have. And that’s fair. But realize that this has been a community for a couple of decades now (migrated over three sites). There are posters who trust another’s word without explanation because it has been earned. That doesn’t mean you need to trust it yourself but others will and for good reason.
  20. My hope is that the next phase is Doom being Doom and the ultimate reveal is the Fantastic Four emerging from their 1960s trip to the Negative Zone at the end of phase four (is it four now, can't actually remember). We need a good Fantastic Four movie. And if Marvel bows to fan pressure and casts John Krazinski as Mister Fantastic and Emily Blunt as Susan Storm, my 14 year old self might explode in pure glee. As for the X-Men, I honestly don't care much. We've seen them done very well in film and very badly in film. And, more importantly, their history is so convoluted that it can't really exist in the same universe as anyone else. And the X-Men operate best in a universe that's just silly and ridiculous. Thanks, Claremont. That may come off as snark but seriously, thanks. He wrote a layered universe that was full of intrigue and complexity but basically ruined it for anyone else who wanted to play in it, much less actually merge that mini-universe into something else and keep it coherent.
  21. I have no idea why Hulk and the stairs was funny but it was just ****ing hilarious.
  22. I’ve never seen a film that delivered so many fan nods (like you said, “on your left”) without becoming fan service and overly nostalgic. The Russo brothers are basically magic.
  23. The elevator scene was such a twisting of audience expectations and delivered such a delightful surprise in “Hail Hydra”.
  24. A lot of people have been bashing Hawkeye and I don’t get it. I thought he was good and the final scene with Widow was very good. I agree on Thor. He was a letdown for 2/3rds of the film but thought they pulled it back together for the showdown. I loved Rogers’ ending. It was exactly how I wanted to see the character exit the franchise. I can’t recall the last time I wanted to see a character get a final win more than Evans’ Cap.
