  1. I agree on the pitching side but I'll take that bet all day long on the hitting side. I suspect any one of the Twins or Sox hitters outpace either or both of the Cleveland hitters and I'd actually put 3-4:1 odds on it happening. If you put that many good young hitters in the same equation, at least one or two of them will truly step out and become great. I might even put even odds on no Cleveland hitter being one of the best two hitters in the ALC. And that's no disrespect to Lindor, as he's amazing... but in a single season with a ton of breakout hitters ready to happen, it's easy to get lost in the mix, even without an injury (which is always a factor).
  2. I have no real problem putting the Astros at one, they're a very good lineup. I could list 3-4 teams to put at number one and have no real quibbles with it. Where it gets laughable is that the Yankees are nine and the Twins are 12. They're in the mix of the top five, at minimum, and I'd throw the Dodgers in there with the Astros. That's probably the top four.
  3. More importantly, what does "balance" even mean and why is it important? At least speed can be quantified and is useful, whether it be stolen bases or advancing runners an extra base. "Balance" means nothing, it's just a thing that looks good on a spreadsheet.
  4. I'm not going to re-litigate the Johan trade because that's been done. What truly baffled me that offseason was that I checked out for a couple of months for life stuff (lived in CA at the time) and came back to find both Johan *and* Garza gone. I remember asking "WHO THE HELL IS GOING TO PITCH?" and was proven painfully right over the next few years as the team came oh-so-close but couldn't field a legitimately good team for two more years. Keep Johan, keep Garza, whatever... but trading both in the same offseason was just stupid.
  5. I hate watching one episode at a time so the draw to subscribe is pretty weak for me. All I now know is that I *will* watch it, just in a month or two.
  6. The first episode was so good!
  7. And there's the rub that often takes down these kinds of ratings. Equally weighting all categories rarely leads to accuracy because virtually nothing in life carries balanced weight, especially when you reach five categories.
  8. I suggest you give everyone a couple of tries to see if their writing style is your cup of tea because if you're passing over articles by someone like Trueblood without giving it a click, you're really missing out.
  9. CBS is streaming the first episode of Picard for free on YouTube for a limited time. Love the first episode. It's almost exactly what I wanted to see.
  10. I'm giving it six weeks or so, that way I can subscribe and binge for $7.
  11. I generally agree but the show isn't thematically consistent between seasons and the approach in the first season was vastly superior to the second season. My wife and I really enjoyed the first season.
  12. Gaetti made the Twins HoF? When the hell did that happen and how did I miss it?
  13. If you look at the numbers, Gaetti should get in at the same time as Tovar. The two players were basically worth 25 WAR during their Twins career. And if you compare postseason records, it's hard to argue with Gaetti helping win a championship while hitting for over a .900 OPS in the 87 postseason.
  14. The second season was a huge letdown after the first season, which was all about research and finding the problem, not going in full Rambo and taking out an entire country by himself. The entire point of Jack Ryan is *not* to be a part of the action, as he left that world to be an analyst. That analyst job is literally his character catalyst moment. He cares SO MUCH, which brings him into occasional action, but his actual purpose is to be the smartest person in the room and only take (mild) action after the system fails him.
  15. Some credit should be given to previous front offices for the acquisition of raw talent but given the track record from 2010-2016, it’s hard to envision those front offices turning that group of players into the players they are today. Max Kepler looks a hell of a lot different at 2 WAR than he does 4 WAR.
  16. I mostly agree but I always saw the majority of that duo's weakness coming from Blyleven, not Bremer. Don't get me wrong, I won't stand here and defend Bremer as being great, but he's entirely adequate most of the time.
  17. I've used FF sparingly lately but haven't seen any issues at all under macOS. What kind of crashing are we talking here?
  18. He's a middle of the road, classic baseball announcer. Some are irritated by that, I just shrug it off. I don't find it interesting but it doesn't drive me up the wall, either. Bert bothered me a lot more because not only was he stuck in the 1970s version of the game, he was openly resistant to anything that happened to the game after 1990 or so.
  19. I disagree that they are such different mediums in the specific sense of baseball. Well, maybe to be more accurate, I think radio is harder because more descriptors are necessary to convey a slow, yet specific, game. But sliding from radio to television is something that could easily be done by a quality radio announcer, which Provus very much is.
  20. My last jersey was from 2001 and after being thrown, spilled on, and literally stomped on for nearly 20 years, I noticed it finally went missing this past postseason (I only wear jerseys during postseason games). I consider it a mercy killing. No idea what happened to it, I probably murdered it in a drunken rage after the 2017 WC game. So, jerseys... which one of you wants to suffer my wrath next? Baby blue, I think I choose you.
  21. I don’t think there’s a big split in baseball when it comes to radio and television. It’s such a slow game that with minor adjustments, the two are nearly interchangeable.
  22. I don’t hate Bremer like so many others here but would MUCH rather have Provus.
  23. That would be me, actually. I'm 6'3". I stand up because the moment I have an opportunity to de-preztel myself out of a typical airline seat, I will do so.
  24. It definitely makes sense to give him a shot in the Opening Day rotation, but that's not what the Twins are hinting right now... unless I missed something, they specifically mentioned the bullpen. I'm wholly on board with a transition from rotation to the bullpen to keep his innings down. That makes a lot of sense. The inverse makes a lot less sense given the construction of this roster.
  25. First, this isn't an "article", it's a user-generated post about what the Twins could possibly do this offseason. Second, if you refer to another article or user post as "garbage", you will receive an infraction on this site. If you receive enough infractions, you will be banned from Twins Daily.
