  1. 4-5 years is a big "hell no". But given the oddities of the past few years in the free agent market, it's hard to say where he'll end up. I could see him taking a 2-3 year contract as easily as I see him going 4-5 years. I'd be willing to gamble on the 2-3 year deal.
  2. That's exactly why I wouldn't trade him unless the deal was right. There's a better than 50/50 chance his value will go back up and this is his low water mark.
  3. "Would a package of Arcia, who will be out of options next season but still four years from free agency, and a pitching prospect - like Kohl Stewart - be too much to give up for a couple of rentals?" That's way, way, way too much.
  4. I don't understand why people consider letting a FA walk some kind of horrible disaster. In some circumstances, it makes sense to use the player during his prime, get value from him, and walk away. This is especially true if you're a contender and that player helps you to the playoffs multiple times and you have a ready successor in place. I wouldn't make a habit of letting guys walk (try to at least get a comp pick when possible) but in some cases, it makes sense. Is Plouffe that guy? I don't know. That depends on Sano as much as it does Plouffe. Only time will tell.
  5. Exactly this. Once Stauffer imploded, we saw trouble was almost inevitable. That's when more aggressive measures should have been taken.
  6. We rented a motorcycle and rode around a lot. Spent most of the time in the highlands. Wish we had spent more time in Edinburgh. Fantastic city.
  7. No, I think the Astros make the playoffs no matter what happens. With the acquisition of Kazmir, I think they're essentially a lock for a WC berth (I don't see anyone passing the Angels). It'd be nice to pass Houston but I think they're in the playoffs no matter what happens with the Twins. They're a good team that just got better.
  8. One of the weirdest experiences in my life was stopping in a bar in rural Scotland, hearing John Denver come on the jukebox, and then witnessing the entire bar start singing along to the song. Scotland is ****ing weird, man.

  10. Put Boyer in there. Even he can't ruin a five run lead and it might convince management to kick his ass out the door if he comes close to doing it.
  11. Given the options, I may have left Santana in from last night.
  12. "You don't know what result you'll get from Suzuki but you know that you'll get a real, real tough at-bat ever-" *couldn't hear the rest because Brock is pounding his face into the desk violently*
  13. But apparently every opposing pitcher he faces is Delilah. Oh snap. Also, I'm a little drunk.
  14. Don't apologize. It only gives the jackals license to complain about more things.
  15. I... actually agree with every word of this post. Well done on all counts.
  16. God, that Sano kid sucks at beisbol. Trade him.
