Mike Berardino is a softy

The only two articles I have read lately by Mike Berardino are both about a Twins aging veteran (Correia and Willingham) wanting to finish out their careers with the Twins.

1) Is this Berardino trying to get established? Why is this news?

2) What are the odds the Twins resign one or both?

3) Would you see this as a positive?

These are spring training types of articles. You need to follow Mike on Twitter and read his Twins Now blog at twincities.com. No one works harder than Mike and gets more information for us fans.

I don't think anyone thinks that the Twins are going to re-sign any of them, certainly not an extension in the spring.

Yeah, Mike's a good reporter. These guys need to write some human interest stuff also. They can't just tweet rumors all day, that's bush league journalism anyway if you ask me. Those kinds of reports also have an accuracy rate of about 20% tops if I was to guess.

I am so glad he was hired by the PP last year. He seems pretty accessible to fans on Twitter, has quite a few blog posts and seemed pretty balanced last season. Face it, beat writers are not going to bite the hand (or the team) that feeds them but he did seem to bring in stats, etc. that would paint the true picture as well as the "softer" stories.

The last post I read by him was his story on the Venezuelan players on the team.

He has also been posting TONS of video on Twitter ... lots of BP.

And here's a link to his most recent post about Alex Meyer (just what we all want to read & see!!!):

Berardino is a really hard worker and he is the class of the Twins' beat writers these days. If Correia and Willingham say stuff, he has to report it. Period. Do not shoot the messenger.

Not at all surprised to see people writing nice things about Mike. IMO he's the best beat reporter, and by far the most accessible to fans.

Don't forget ... he also has to do his part to sell newspapers, hence some human interest stories.

I don't believe we need to file "human interest" in the same bin as "Reality TV." Sometimes humans can be pretty interesting. At least that's what the rumors say.
