Here's my list for pitchers:

Garza - E. Santana - Tanaka - expensive (try to get one)

Josh Johnson - Hughes - Baker - Colby Lewis - low to medium cost (try to sign two of the four to two year deals)

It is so kind of folks to write about the Twins and use "90+ loss season", when they could just as easily use 5 as the factor and say "95+ loss season". 90 is so much kinder than reality.

 

I like Kazmir and Lincecum and Tanaka. I can't see how Garza would play for the Twins by choice with the same management in place as before, nor that the Twins would sign him because the same management is in place as before.

I'm with h2oface - no to Garza. Cannot imagine him ever wanting to play for Anderson again.

 

I am not a big fan of signing Lincecum either. Something is amiss for him. And I think he's going to be really expensive.

Tanaka & Kazmir, that's where I'm hoping the extra effort goes.

That said, I think you were a bit hard on Arcia. His season was a success as far as I'm concerned. He needs to take a step forward, and given his age and minor league track record, I do not doubt him.

 

Also, if the Twins can get any value for Albers, they should trade him. He got off to a great start, and as soon as the book came out on his 85 MPH heater, teams hit him very well. He's a DFA candidate in my opinion and if the has value, I'd trade him.

That is a generous choice of words.

Try 58 hits and 34 runs over 42.2 innings after those first 2 starts.

 

Then again, according to Tim Laudner, only a "knucklehead" would think that he was due for a regression after those first 2 starts, so maybe he just got unlucky.

Arcia was a massive success story this year, given his age.

I don't think people realize how incredibly rare it is for 22 year old hitters to hold their own in their debut season.

I guess Trout and Harper and Machado have spoiled people to think that prospects should immediately be elite level players.

Wouldn't waste a 40 man on Pat Dean. In 455 career IP, 518 Hits and only 277 K's. If someone wants him. They can have him.
