notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 I wonder when the last time someone started their career with back-to-back complete game shutouts was. Albers was not given that opportunity for such a meaningless accomplishment.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Now that you bring it up, yeah, it'd be nice to see a Twins pitcher crap their pants when the Yankees weren't in town. It'd be a nice change of pace.Let's hope the Twins won try to charge an extra 15 bucks for that like they thought about for bp.

Thegrin Verified Member Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 And as was pointed out earlier, the rarity of the accomplishment can't be ignored. More than 4 times as likely to throw a no-hitter than to pitch a CGSO in your debut appearance. and nobody will remember in a month or a year or until some other rookie does something similar. A complete game no-hitter is the standard of excellence and is referred to many times for many reasons. Since this was not a no-hitter, it belongs in the "nice game" category.

He would have remembered...the record books would have also...just because some want to minimize it cause it isn't a popular accomplishment doesn't make it irrelevant.
