Winston Smith Verified Member Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 If you were a contending team would you trust Duensing?
Parker Hageman Site Manager Posted July 31, 2013 Author Posted July 31, 2013 Depends on how a team views relievers and their potential. Duensing has very solid stuff against lefties, strong peripherals versus them. At the same time, he's allowed some hits but not many big hits. In a LOOGY role, he could put up good numbers. The difference is that Duensing is arb-eligible. Makes a difference thinking you may be able to keep him past this year. Of course, he would make a lot at arb, too. Personally, I don't think he goes anywhere.
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Duensing had allowed several runs to score. Inherited runners. A very important but oft not mentioned stat. Duensing is duen. Done. Finished. Please trade him and stop the suffering by Twins' fans. Has he had solid stuff against lefties this year? I remember hearing on a broadcast that lefties were hitting closer to .300 against him this year.
Parker Hageman Site Manager Posted July 31, 2013 Author Posted July 31, 2013 Duensing had allowed several runs to score. Inherited runners. A very important but oft not mentioned stat. True, but this is not necessarily a repeatable skill set.
Kwak Verified Member Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 He's not worth keeping. These guys aren't that rare, if they're aren't productive replace them.
Rosterman Verified Member Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 He is no longer a long-relief/spot starter alternative, especially at whatever price he will demand. The Twins have both Aaron Thompson and Pedro Hernandez who could step into his role for the immediate future. And too bad about Cole DeVries, he might've made Swarzak expendable. But don't see him even getting a September call-up this year, let alone remaining on the 40-man (although I hope he'll stick with the organization for another season).
ScottyB Verified Member Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Ship him off for nothing. Move Diamond to his bullpen slot and bring up Albers.
jun Verified Member Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Ibarra is ready and he is a lefty, Tonkin and Ibarra are both knocking on the door, Duensing should be easily replaced.
jun Verified Member Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Ship him off for nothing. Move Diamond to his bullpen slot and bring up Albers. Diamond should be sent down to AAA. Albers should be called up. Ibarra should take Duensing's spot in the bullpen. Byebye Duensing.

Need 2 40-man slots for both Albers and Ibarra. So trade Duensing and ship Butera to the Cardinals - they need catching help. Two C prospects for the 2 of them would be just fine.

No way in hell should we call up Ibarra.
