If so, no reason to be interested. You are right. by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com(4:57 pm ET) The Mets announced Tuesday they placed starting pitcher Shaun Marcum on waivers for the purpose of his unconditional release. Marcum is out for the season after undergoing surgery for thoracic outlet syndrome. Marcum is being released because of a different pay scale for being with the team as opposed to being on the disabled list, according to ESPN.
Oxtung Verified Member Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 I have no idea the long term outlook after having surgery for thoracic outlet syndrome but if he is expected to make a full recovery I would be very interested in acquiring him for the 2014 season. When healthy he is a #2 starter in this league. I would also guess he is going to get a "show me" type contract that won't be too expensive. Win-Win if you ask me. Of course this all depends on what his prognosis is going forward.

YourHouseIsMyHouse Provisional Member Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 I believe we'd be on the hook for his salary, so no. It's a one year contract and he likely won't be pitching anytime soon.
