As of today. I'd say take a look at the last 10 games for the Red Sox and Tigers. They both may be buying by the deadline. Both have + run differentials and expected win totals of 48. For now, I'd remove any of their players from your wish list. Of course I'd like to see Sonny back in a Twins uni. Chapman closing out games for the Twins. Adding Mize would be as good adding Gray. But....

All I know is that if the Twins don't sell the guys not under their control for next year, what are we even doing here?  Have they and anyone who agrees with them deluded themselves that much?

Intellectually, I want them also to trade Joe Ryan and some others, but I do feel the fun of "having a chance."

On the other hand, why would you trade Josh Bell unless you get something really helpful for the future?  It's doubtful that he'd fetch that much, so maybe you don't trade him for that reason.  Jeffers should bring a good prospect, though I'm skeptical the Twins will identify one.

I don't know if this is our official "trading deadline thread" but I wanted to raise an interesting possibility. Word is that the Padres would consider trading Mason Miller, best closer in the business who is arb eligible in 2027 and isn't even a free agent until 2030. They gave up DeVries for him so the return for him now has to be something similar plus, and they need position players in the worst way with an aging and ineffective lineup. How about something like this:

Twins get: Mason Miller

Padres get: their choice of Emanuel Rodriguez, Kaeden Culpepper, or Gabriel Gonzalez, plus their choice of Royce Lewis, Henry Mendez, Brandon Winknour or Marek Houston, but they can't have Culpepper and Houston. If necessary, the Twins also throw in Trevor Larnach, or Matt Wallner and another prospect from the 20-30 range in the rankings.

What does everyone think? Is that enough? Too much?

It really, really sucks that this team that hasn't been .500 since there was snow on the ground is convincing people that they're a "buyer".

I get the sentiment, I really do, but just because you're getting a D and everyone else is getting an F doesn't make you college material.  The classroom next door has actual A students.
