Red Sox Bullpen takes another hit

Saw on ESPN.com today that Andrew Bailey has a significant injury that may impact his availability for the rest of the season. With Perk being our best trade chip, what is the possibility that we could get Bogaerts back in a trade, understanding it couldn't be a 1 for 1 deal as the Red Sox wouldn't go for that, but what if we threw in an Angel Morales, Max Kepler type (one of our many OF prospects in top 30 prospect list) along with Perkins for Bogaerts. Any chance?

Would be amazing, but I think the probability of that happening is 0%. He's a top 3 prospect in all of baseball. They aren't going to trade him.

I doubt Boston would have any interest in Morales. He has struggled in his promotion to AA and won't be worth protecting.

I suspect that Kepler would have some value given that he's a borderline top 100 prospect as it is (though he will require a spot on the 40 man next year if memory serves me right). The question is do you trade Kepler and Perkins for Bogarts. I might do that, though I think I'd push pretty hard to get them to sell low on Barnes as well. His peripherals are all there.

I'd also think long and hard of a Kepler and Perkins trade for Raunado and Webster. Adding 2 more high upside AA arms would likely solve our near term pitching woes.

EDIT: to echo previous poster, I don't know if Boston is desperate enough to do that. Perhaps their new GM doesn't want to live in Theo's shadow and will let Terry Ryan abuse him... Who knows.

Boston has a lot to offer - Middlebrooks is their recently demoted third baseman who won't take a walk to save his life. Three decent pitching prospects in Ranaudo, Webster and Barnes. BA, in their mid season update, ranked Bogarts #4 (untouchable), Bradley #21 (solid CF to replace Ellsbury), Ranaudo #37 and Garin Cecchini, a really nice third base man, #41.

A package around Ranaudo and, say, Barnes would probably be in line for what we'd want back. (Barnes is a Trevor May type who has really struggled at AA this year while striking out a ton of hitters).

His peripherals are pretty solid. Striking out more than 11/9 IP and walking less than 3.something/9 innings. The big difference is that he's giving up significantly more hits this year. In his previous seasons, he gave up less than 1 hit per inning. Not so much this year. Given that the peripherals are there, I think he can adjust. Not that he's a throw in, but I think he's better than May and would definitely be a buy low guy right now.

That said, I wouldn't want a Perk for Barnes deal. He's the extra guy tossed in, not the centerpiece.

Agreed. Sickels said he's no longer a top 100 guy today but he'd be in the early 100s.

Boston has this big lefty in A+ ball killing it named Henry Owens that made Law's top 50 list. He would be a great player to build a package around.
