Fighting the Negativity: An Experiment for a Harmonic Twins Daily

Last night's game was entertaining as hell to watch. And we won. It is easy to forget sometimes, even when we win a few games, how much fun baseball can be to watch.

Well on my way to buying a Deduno shirsey. Even though his control was worse than it had been the past few weeks, he put together 7 solid innings. And how can you not love the emotion and fire and all sorts of crazy he shows on the mound!?

And the Twins organization definitely deserves credit for signing him and bringing on. So often we all criticize the front office for signing all these AAAA guys but Deduno is a success story.

I want a necklace like his that I can chew on while I work, too. That was pretty funny.

Positive: Terry Ryan is smart and capable of learning from mistakes so, in the aftermath of holding on to his 34-y.o., never-will-be-better left fielder last off-season, he will forget that Perkins is a local boy and aggressively shop his 30-y.o., never-will-be-better reliever.

It's okay TR. You correctly identified Perkins as a viable closer and smartly bought out his first 3 years of free agency making him a fantastic bargain given his current production. Perkins is now a prime asset. As nice as it is to have a shut down closer, its a meaningless extravagance for a team with bottom of the barrel starters and below-average offense. It is time to pick up the phone. The locals will still get 4 Mauer at bats a game to feel good about their hometown.

What does a stuttering Miguel Sano shout as he rounds the bases?

One of my favorite parts about being a Twins fan is our history. We may not have as many WS titles as the Cardinals or the Yankees, but we do have two fantastic World Series victories. 1987 is often looked because of how awesome 1991 was/is, but the storyline of a team that was overlooked but ultimately conquered is incredible.

And 1991. A series that went the distance, with 5 games being decided by 1 run, 4 walk offs, and a 10 inning shutout delivered by Jack Morris in game 7. The morning of that game, Jack Morris ate breakfast with his family and declared that he knew the Twins were going to win that night. IMHO, the greatest World Series of all time.

Sometimes I still like to rewatch that World Series- it still gives me chills. Here's a link to Game 7:

Brings tears to my eyes.

Perhaps that was the morning Jack Morris and crew ate at Perkins in Stillwater and the waitress was a friend of mines daughter. Perkins picked up the tab for the entire table, and Jack left no tip, nada.

And Pelfrey continues to impress.
