The Dodgers have shown interest in Perkins and they have made it clear they will over pay. Would a package built around Lee excite people? They have several other arms I'm interested in too for extra .

Anyways, back on topic. The Dodgers have shown interest in Perkins and they have made it clear they will over pay. Would a package built around Lee excite people? They have several other arms I'm interested in too for extra .

I am unsure if they would give up Lee but I find a few other arms intriguing as well. What about a package of Magill, Jose Dominguez and Julio Urias? Yimi Garcia is another nice relief prospect if the Twins want more control than Dominguez offers.

Yes. A package around SS Corey Seager would excite me too. I'd prefer he be a year older and destroying A+, but he's 19 and destroying the Midwest league.

I agree wholeheartedly but I would need more back than Seager. Perhaps if they tossed in 2 of the 3 prospects I mentioned earlier. I'm trying to not be a big homer here. Is that too much for Perkins? How about Seager, Dominguez and Rob Rasmussen?

Last year the argument was lose 90 games for a second straight year. After 2010, the reason we didn't go get quality FA was because we didn't need them. There will always, and I mean always, be a way to excuse the team when they don't go and get top quality players in FA. Either we did well and don't need them, so it's totally understandable we didn't go and improve our team, or it's okay we didn't get any quality FAs cause no one wants to come here because apparently, even after winning for over a decade very recently, we've lost two straight seasons so we're 'team non grata' (a play off of the expression persona non grata).

How many ballplayers talk about wanting to win. How many of them talk about it sucks to lose. How big of salary increase would it take to get you to move to California? Losing cuts the pool of available players.

Winning does overcome a negative environment. See Detroit

Because you expect the players to come out and say, 'I want to play where I'll get paid the most!'? That would go over extremely well. This is their job, the way they make a living.

In any event, that wasn't the point. There's ALWAYS a reason to excuse the non-spending was the point. And that's fine, I guess. If getting quality players in all ways possible isn't something you care about the team doing, then it's certainly your prerogative. Defend away, but don't expect everyone to agree with that strategy.

Seagers is actually rated higher than Lee. Law has him ranked all the way at #16. I like Seagers but there is no way he is sticking at SS.

Up until this year, there was no way Sano would stick at 3rd either. I agree Seagers is likely to move, but part of why he's ranked where he's ranked is b/c he hasn't yet.

Not to drag this off topic, but Zach Greinke actually did come out, after signing with the Dodgers, and say he was going wherever the money was highest regardless of the team paying his salary. So the Twins did have a shot there depending on whether you believe the Twins could have outbid the Dodgers.
