Guest USAFChief Guests Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Last time I'm responding to you. I asked if every hit that didn't result in a run scored was meaningless, which you said "30 RBI" in response to.At the end of the day, isn't anything that happens in a ballgame that doesn't result in a run end up "meaningless?"
Beezer07 Provisional Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 At the end of the day, isn't anything that happens in a ballgame that doesn't result in a run end up "meaningless?" Of course it is. But at the end of the day, anything that happens in sports is meaningless because it's sports...unless you won or lost a bet or something.
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Ever had albatross-kangaroo stew? Delicious. / unrelated, but I tried elephant-rabbit stew once. Tasted mostly like elephant I'm going to assume you know that because it didn't taste like rabbit. Or have you eaten elephant before?

Tasted mostly like elephant Are we talking about elephant and rabbit stew or elephant-sized rabbit stew? Huge difference, in my opinion. Literally.
ashbury Verified Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 I'm going to assume you know that because it didn't taste like rabbit. Or have you eaten elephant before? It was actually a joke told by my Economics professor, making a point about... well, all I remember now is elephant-rabbit stew.

Guest USAFChief Guests Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Nonsense. The beer I'm having during this ballgame is quite meaningful. Well, yeah, but I'm going to assume at some point that beer is going to be the cause of a run. to the bathroom.
Beezer07 Provisional Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 More embarrassing for a pitcher: Giving up a HR to Ichiro or (if it ever happens) to Revere?
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 More embarrassing for a pitcher: Giving up a HR to Ichiro or (if it ever happens) to Revere?yes.
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 The bullpen has struck out more batters than the starters. Big deal. There's 8 of them, and only 5 starters. ba-dum-tsh.
Beezer07 Provisional Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 I love the idea of the Futures Game, but isn't it "unfair" to have AAA players going against high-A and AA players? Anyone who is/has watched in the past, is there a noticeable difference in skill?
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 You missed 'em all, Jamey. Shoot another one that way.
ashbury Verified Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Did you remember to enter the drawing to win a chance to pitch an inning this game? Looks like everyone's getting a turn before the break.

Talent is talent. There is usually a reason someone is still at the lower levels but this does give them a chance to raise their game. Similar to a Soph playing varsity baseball, some guys can play at a level with older and more polished players, others can't. Roberts thrived in the AFL last year, when for the most part he was playing agasint MLB ready competition.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Winnah! The ump negated a wonderful play by Dozier, but Perkins had more than enough to retire nearly starless Yanks.
ashbury Verified Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Enjoyable game - let's have about 20 more in a row like this after the break.
Longdistancetwins Verified Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 So happy for Perkins. Keep enjoying your time in NYC!
IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Next thing you'll be telling us the "foul" Mauer double in the playoffs didn't cost the Twins multiple world series titles. I would, but that's still too painful to joke about, IMO.
IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Wouldn't you know - the best game the Twins have played in a couple of weeks (based on all of your comments) and I had to work the entire time. Just got back in.
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Didn't Chief just caution someone else about bringing facts into a game thread? Ban worthy?
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Did Gibson have such control problems in the minors, typically, or is this an off day for him? Not sure about pre-surgery, but he had some issues earlier this season. I chalk a lot of it up to TJ recovery...
ashbury Verified Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Ban worthy? Banning's too good for him. That's why we keep him around. / oh wait, you didn't mean Chief
Eduardo Tait Cedar Rapids Kernels - A+ C On Thursday, the 19-year-old went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI in Cedar Rapids. That gives him nine homers this season. Explore Eduardo Tait News >
