Twins sign international prospect Angel Ozuna

Apparently he was a big time prospect for the 2027 class and had a large deal already agreed to with the Yankees, but he had lied about his age.

Ouch, three years older than originally thought? So he was 19 and lying about being 16? I can see why his offer from the Twins is so much less.

Yeah, I don't blame the kid. This was certainly planned by an adult.

He claimed to be 16,  I think closer to 2 1/2 years older.  Not that it makes a major difference.  It affected many more kids than just him, and I wouldn't be surprised if its a bigger issue than what was uncovered.  I think there has been lots of history of handlers and parents claiming kids were younger than they really were.  Albert Pujols could be a prime example.  

This seems to be par for the course of the Twins,  saying I think I can get a discount on a player who has good talent.  He very well could amount to nothing.  There are definite question marks on the parents and handlers of this kid,  so the environment may be a bit questionable to say the least,  thats not to say anything about the kids ethics.  

For 500k which is 6.83% of the budget,  I am ok with the gamble.

16 playing with 13 1/2 year olds.

To go on my previous post more information has come out.  They have stated he his a better player than most of his contemporaries.  So this is looking like a value dive,  similarly to Sano, ect with age concerns.

The price drop makes sense because MLB teams pay for projection and at 19 he has less room to grow than a 16 year old
