Article on mlbtraderumors discusses that the Giants owner wants to add starting pitching. But he doesn't want a multi year big FA commitment for SP.  So Ryan would appear to be a perfect fit for them.

Eldridge is the kind of young promising piece the Twins should be looking for.  Playing off the Giants vs. the Red Sox (and potentially the Mets and Yankees) should generate a good offer for Ryan if they want to move him.
