Last 14 days:

BA .180 OBP .263 SLG .220 OPS .483

Last 7 days:

BA .200 OBP .250 SLG .280 OPS .530

Pardon me if I have the next part wrong because I'm not much of a stats person but I think I recall some concerns last month whether he could sustain his BABIP which is .372 for the season but only .220 in the last 14 days and .238 in the past .238

When will he turn it around? Can we start some yammering to try to get Joe back on track (it worked so well with Aaron Hicks)? Does he just need those babies to be born? :)

He needs 81 games a year in Fenway!

Having an elite hitting catcher is a huge advantage for the Twins, and his ability to hit for average and get on base at elite levels isn't going to decline quickly. I'd suggest focusing your energy advocating for more useful, and more realistic trades, like Morneau and possibly Perkins.

He's not advocating a trade to Boston. He's simply saying that Mauer will be better if he plays there because he bats around .400 with a ton of doubles. (sorry for the rough estimates there.)

His career BA in Boston is .321. His career BA is .322. Then again, Boston has had some very good pitching over the year so he wouldn't be facing them. Not sure if that gets him to .400 though :-)

His slg% is a good bit higher than his career slg% though along with his OPS (mostly because of the slg%).

Great players struggle sometimes, and in some seasons they can have statistical anomalies (Strikeouts). I understand that Joe had a career high in SO's last year and this year he is on pace to pass that total up substantially. I'm not too concerned - although he's struggling right now - that will end soon. I'd be bummed out if we didn't have him, and overall he's had himself a pretty nice season so far.

He has picked up his BA in the last 7 days (.250) so that span a week-14 days ago must have been really brutal.

It seems to me that Joe traditionally has trouble before the AS Break (this is totally from memory so correct me if I'm wrong -- its a hard stat to look up because he has sometimes gone on a tear after the AS game).

Okay, I'm off to resurrect the Aaron Hicks thread to try to get him back to Monday night's performance instead of last night's. :go:
